00:29 The move that we made last week, how we're getting setup, and a little link to a very quick video tour of the flat
Link to the video tour: https://youtu.be/nzyi4sntZvE (still processing at the time I'm publishing this, should be ready by the time you listen, or when you're done listening :) )
15:42 The teaching job that I'll start Friday next week, how I'm going to have to move fast to create the course, and how I'll handle this on top of the channel
I hope you'll enjoy listening to this one, sorry for the post spam today :D
Have a great week!

Yeah, fortunately, I managed to reach 400Mbps with the mesh router network, which is more than enough!

2024-08-28 09:22:20 +0000 UTCWhat worked for me in terms of WiFi was Ubiquity Long Range, but I do not have fiber, so my top speed is around 80 Mb/s... probably too low for you π

2024-08-27 13:03:45 +0000 UTCYeah, it wasn't that, then, it was more of a soft, mouse desktop mat, carpet-like roll of stuff glued on top of wood flooring :D

2024-08-27 12:46:42 +0000 UTCHaha well, I don't feel old, I just feel that I did the "let's carry heavy stuff a lot" enough :D

2024-08-27 12:45:25 +0000 UTCWe will definitely start a small garden and grow a few things, yeah!

2024-08-27 09:53:57 +0000 UTCHey Nick, pretty sweet flat, good to see that the move went well. The terrace is really big, you really have a lot of space outside, do you have any plans on starting a small garden next year? About your problem with the wifi, I had okay speeds with a powerline adapter, around 100Mbits/s for both uploads and downloads on a 1Gbit/s optical fiber connection, latency was fine at around 3-5ms I think and the connection was stable enough. The model I used was a Devolo Magic 2, I don't know how it compares to a mesh network or if it's enough for your needs, just don't expect the speeds advertised by the vendor be it for a mesh network or a powerline adapter ;)

2024-08-26 15:38:32 +0000 UTC"Nearing my 40s" as if you're getting old, lol. I don't want to hear that π

2024-08-26 14:49:46 +0000 UTCSo the name for Linoleum in English is Linoleum - it was a brand name, not an actual word, so it's the same everywhere. However, if your floor cracked then it was probably laminate flooring, which is a cheap type of flooring made from plywood and a single paper-thin sheet of solid wood OR a printed photo of wood on top. (Linoleum is a soft plastic made from various oils so it's very hard to crack.)

2024-08-26 13:27:26 +0000 UTCI will be interested to actually see your layout to get a better sense of your wifi connection issues. For myself, i had an issue where my computer room was behind a brick wall and fairly far away. I went with a TP-Link AX1800 WiFi Extender Internet Booster (RE605X) - WiFi 6 Range Extender which allowed me to bring fairly decent speeds to my room. The caveat is, of course, whether or not you have a wifi 6 router (which I did). I have not noticed any issue however our workloads may be different.

2024-08-26 12:47:17 +0000 UTCCongratulations on the move and on the teaching job! Good luck. Didn't know you were working out with kettlebell, great stuff. Also, cat figure on the floor is the best part.
