That's a completely valid view. I love Linux, and to me, it's th lowest friction system for everything I do on a computer, but my approach has always been to use what works!

The Linux Experiment

I use a MacBook for work where I admin a bunch of Linux servers, I develop little indie games on a Windows box at home, and my couch gaming is on a steam deck. I'd love to see the strengths of KDE 6 or some refined Gnome 3+ across all my screens, but I am at the point in my geek life where I use the underlying platform that creates the least amount of ongoing friction for the task at hand instead of insisting on using a Linux desktop everywhere I go. I don't know if Linux desktop will ever be that platform of least ongoing friction while they chase and experiment on the edge while still honoring older platforms (Wayland and X11 as an example).
