Late last night, while playing Helldivers 2 and simultaneously programming the Dirtywave M8, I had an idea about the Techno Template for the Octatrack. What if I swapped the master track for a Static/Flex track (aka sample playback) with various noise samples for different riser effects? I love the Syntakt; it has essentially replaced my Digitone. The Digitone is a fantastic synthesizer, perfect at what it does (FM + Subtractive synthesis), but it doesn't scratch the same itch as the Syntakt, with its 12 tracks + FX track and analog synth engines. It's weird but I like weird, so.. I guess I like it?
Here are some positives: The REV/DEL sounds great, and it's fun to generate patterns. The synth engines are pretty awesome, especially when used through the REV/DEL. The master sound profiles are really cool, and I am very happy to see this feature. It's still a machine with a quirky workflow, but it's certainly the only instrument of its kind.
