Late and a lot of people already suggested this, but definitely check out chainsaw man. Probably one of the best written new gens and with the movie coming out quite soon it will probably draw in a lot more views.

2025-10-17 02:39:10 +0000 UTCI agree with most of the stuff mentioned already. I wanted to give you some other recs that i think would fit your style. The Promised Neverland S1 - 12 EP (Don't watch season 2, there is no season 2) Erased - 12 EP Tengoku Daimakyou (Heavenly Delusion) - 13 EP ( 1 season so far, no news on when/if the rest will get adapted) Also some longer stuff : Dead Dead Demon's Dededededestruction - 18 EP ( A personal favorite, very underrated imo and barely any reactions to it online. Watch episode 0 between 16 and 17) Oshi No Ko - 24 EP ( 2 seasons of 11 and 13 ep, first episode is also 1h20, with season 3 coming January 2026) Anyway, thanks for all the great reacts , keep it up :)

2025-10-15 22:34:21 +0000 UTCAll have been mentioned already but my top choice would be Ping Pong the Animation tho i would love Vivy or Odd Taxi aswell. I would also like to mention that Vivy was written by the Re:Zero author in case that might further your interest!

2025-10-13 11:48:52 +0000 UTCPing Pong the animation is 11 episodes and is one of the best sports anime ever. Very unique.

2025-10-13 08:20:04 +0000 UTCNot sure if you've seen it, but I just remembered Fate/Zero. It’s written by Gen Urobuchi, the same writer behind Madoka Magica. If you liked Madoka, you'll probably love this one too

2025-10-13 05:03:40 +0000 UTCGirls Last Tour would be my top suggestion. Especially after doing a few long heavy shows. Its a only 12 episodes, and if you want to try something different the manga ending is only a few chapters past the anime and gives really good closer on the serries.

2025-10-13 04:56:22 +0000 UTCEver watched Steins;Gate? It is 25 episodes, but still

2025-10-13 04:53:30 +0000 UTCI think everything here has already been mentioned, but I'll go ahead and double up on them. Of the shows below, this is the only series that isn't short, but you'd probably have a fun time diving into Penguindrum (24 episodes) and it would be great to see your analysis. It could also be a good entry point to possibly watching other Ikuhara shows later down the line (Utena [which is much longer, but also a great option], or Sarazanmai & YuriKuma [both shorter, but better watched at some point after Utena or Penguindrum imo]). For other series that were written by NisioisiN (Monogatari author), you could try out Katanagatari (12 episodes, fully adapted) or Kubikiri Cycle (8 episodes, but only covers the 1st Zaregoto Series novel as a standalone mystery). Chainsaw Man (12 episodes) is somewhat recent, and it's a great series even if there's only 1 season so far. Most of the manga is yet to be adapted, but a sequel movie covering the next arc is currently airing in theatres. In November, you could be on the lookout for a series adapting a bunch of short one-shots by Fujimoto (Chainsaw Man author). I believe it'll literally be called "Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26" . Odd Taxi (13 episodes) is a short mystery series with some great dialogue and twists. Haven't seen it myself yet, but Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song (13 episodes) could be interesting, and it's a finished anime original series that was co-written by ReZero's author. Serial Experiments Lain (13 episodes) is also a classic if you haven't seen it yet. Oh! You could also look into some of Satoshi Kon's works, he's done some great psychological horror/mystery stories. Perfect Blue and Paprika are both standalone movies, and Paranoia Agent is 13 episodes.

2025-10-13 04:16:14 +0000 UTCI love the FLCL suggestion if you haven’t watched yet (and it is really short). Think Bocchi is a great one too.

2025-10-13 02:50:32 +0000 UTCThis was also made by the same author of Monogatari

2025-10-13 02:11:29 +0000 UTCThis anime is totally Shaft-like and reminds me of Monogatari: Kubikiri/The Beheading Cycle.

2025-10-13 01:44:08 +0000 UTCI have faith that I can get through nearly anything, Arcane s2 was unique in the way it made me feel honestly

2025-10-13 00:52:47 +0000 UTCPeople suggested a lot of longer shows here, but bocchi the rock and vivy are both short and really good. vivy is a finished story though, unlike bocchi, so you won't have to wait for more seasons. but bocchi is really fun and potentially more stuff to talk about ig. oh and someone mentioned utena, I think it would be really fun if you haven't seen it. it's an older show but i think it's a must watch, it's longer but i wanted to mention it still.. ppl are mentioning mushoku tensei, but honestly I feel like it can be another arcane situation for you. it's also way longer, it has like 50 episodes already + more seasons in production

2025-10-13 00:46:26 +0000 UTCI agree, Revue would be great and I find that the show would fit well in the channel
Gama
2025-10-13 00:43:21 +0000 UTCA bit longer than 12 episodes so maybe save for later, but I think Penguindrum or Utena would make for great reactions. Ikuhara shows are pretty unique, and I think they would make for some great discussions. Another really good one that is more recent is Orb: on the movements of the earth, but it’s also 25 episodes. Some shorter shows I think you might like are Katanagatari, Ping Pong the animation, or Devilman Crybaby. These are all around 12 episodes, and ping pong and Devilman are directed by Masaaki Yuasa, who also directed The Tatami Galaxy so I highly recommend them if you enjoyed that show. Katanagatari is written by Nisio Isin who wrote Monogatari, and it is just as good imo. Very well written and really witty dialogue just like Monogatari. Those are all a little older though, so if you’re looking for a more recent shorter show, I think you would like The Summer Hikaru Died.

2025-10-12 22:52:50 +0000 UTCControversial one: Oregairu. Lots of people hate it because of how annoying the characters can get. But the themes are amazing and it probably has the most "realistic" characters I know of.

2025-10-12 22:52:05 +0000 UTCHibike Euphonium and or Violet Evergarden, for the KyoAni love.

2025-10-12 22:50:50 +0000 UTCZaregoto series (Kubikiri Cycle) or Katanagatari if you want more Monogatari. Same author. You'd love it.

2025-10-12 22:49:32 +0000 UTCI agree with MT. But for the wrong reasons. He would absolutely be a hate watcher. And I'm all for it.

2025-10-12 22:49:08 +0000 UTCAs for something more recent, I'd recommend Chainsaw Man. It's popular + it's great = you should watch it.

2025-10-12 22:47:49 +0000 UTCEven though it isn't a short show (22 episodes), I'll put Hyouka here. It's a fun slice-of-life/mystery show with some great characters and I'd love to see you react to it!

2025-10-12 22:37:04 +0000 UTCNot sure what qualifies as recent but here are some really good single-cour shows that you haven't reacted to. I won't go into too much detail about them to not hint/spoil. Ping Pong the Animation (2014, Psychological, Drama) It's a very unconventional show from the art style to the storytelling. A masterclass in character writing. Chainsaw Man (2022, Action/Horror, Drama) A chaotic but also surprisingly humane story, centered around fear. It's a really high quality adaptation. Each episode has its own ED. Odd Taxi (2021, Mystery, Thriller) Let's just say it has a very unique vibe and it was refreshing watching this back when it came out. Also there is absolutely no way you'll figure out some of the biggest twists. ZOM 100 (2023, Action, Comedy/Drama) It's a about celebrating joy in life and freedom of truly living, even under the crushing weight of modern society. Link Click (2021, Drama, Thriller) - (Although this has 2x12 eps right now.) Chinese ONA, which has a clever story mechanic that I've not seen implemented like this anywhere else yet, but can't say more. --------------------------- I know you're specifically not asking for longer shows, but I couldn't resist: Would love to see you react to 3-gatsu no Lion. It's an absolute masterpiece of a character drama about depression and healing. (It's also my favorite anime.) Adapted by Shaft and has 2x22 episodes right now.

2025-10-12 22:30:11 +0000 UTCGirls's Last Tour, a show about two girls traveling post-apocalypse. Gets quite philosophical and I think there would be quite a lot you could add to the series with your analysis.

2025-10-12 22:24:24 +0000 UTCIt's kinda random, but I suggest Kaiji. It's a show about gambling, full of mind games and psychological drama. It's 24 episodes across 2 seasons, but it's really entertaining in terms of reactions

2025-10-12 22:13:02 +0000 UTCWhat all have you watched? Got a MAL or something? Not Recent but recommend based on your style of show so far: Katanagatari - 12 episodes 44 minutes each, same author as Mono but entirely different story. Haruhi - 24 episodes + Probably the best movie in anime this one is the most like “idk how you’d like this” imo. It’s somewhat time-gated and more “fun” than thought provoking while still having some very nice characters/character moments. Serial Experiments Lain - 12 episodes Shinseki Yori - 25 episodes Within the last 5 years: Mushoku Tensei? Doesn’t fit your length criteria but it’s ongoing and quite good. 2 seasons 24 episodes each with OVAs. 3rd season coming in April. OddTaxi- 12 episodes mystery series. Don’t let the animals fool you. Ranking of Kings - 23 episodes.. Spice and Wolf - new re-make series just recently aired and they’re planning on continuing. 24 episodes so far DanDaDan - 24 episodes so far, one of my fav shonens of late Bocchi - 12 eps season 2 coming eventually

2025-10-12 22:08:17 +0000 UTCNoo, I was going to suggest Takopi! Did you watch Sora yori mo tooi bashou? (A place further than the universe) It could be an option. Also Durarara (not new, but I won't stop suggesting it!) If you want something more recent... Hmm, I don't think this one would help the algorythmn, but you can watch "If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student". If you prefer domething lighter after watching so many dense and deep series, I can suggest Isekai Oji-san
