Youtube dubbing & working with the macbook Pro - Patroncast S03E31
Added 2023-07-31 15:08:41 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
I hope you're all doing well, here is your weekly episode of the patroncast!
In this one, I talk about:
- 00:53 Youtube adding AI powered dubbing to videos, and my feelings on that
- 07:51: The channel, some numbers, and some more details about working on the macbook pro as an exercise in frustration, mixed with some pretty damn awesome stuff (basically: awesome hardware, horrible software)
I hope you'll enjoy listening to this one!
Have a great week,
Nick

Yeah, the hardware is great, but it's held back by mediocre software. I'll also give Asahi a good shot and see where they're at ad if the laptop is usable with it!

I've been using a Mac for over a year and a half now as part of my job, and even as a techie person who's super good at searching for stuff, this is unintuitive as hell. On the other hand, this device is powerful. I can feel it. As someone who doesn't have that much money and whose two other laptops at home are pretty old and bad, this is something else. The software is bad, but the M1 Pro hardware is genuinely great. My plan is that once I'm leaving this company to buy the laptop using my employee discount, wipe it clean, and install Asahi, which would hopefully work smoothly by that point.

2023-08-06 09:34:49 +0000 UTCre: translation AI, didn't YouTube already have ways to upload multiple audio tracks for the same video? I've seen multiple videos with audio-described track for blind people, and I know TheoJoe experimented with having multi-language tracks for his videos
