Vote on February's topics!
Added 2023-01-20 15:00:00 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Here is that time of the month again, where YOU vote on a few things that I'll cover on the channel!
As for the topics that I'll definitely make:
- The usual Linux News videos (4 in February, every Saturday), accompanied by their podcast counterpart
- A video dedicated to the trusted old NAS: what it is, what it can do, and why it would be a good addition to most user's homes, even the least technically inclined. It will show Synology hardware, as they sent me some stuff to look at for that video
- One hardware review video, either for a System76 laptop, or for a Tuxedo one, depending on who ships their review unit the fastest!
- elementary OS 7 review (hopefully): I was expecting it to land in January, but nope, so I'm saving a spot in here for it.
- KDE Plasma 5.27:: it will release on the 14th, and it's the last in the KDE 5 series, so it's well worth its own video
And now, what you can vote on!
- Windows vs Linux: performance test. This one was planned a while ago, but Windows refused to install. Now I managed to do it, so it's back on the menu! The goal is to look at gaming performance, read and write speeds, geekbench, thermals, battery life, browser benchmarks, and everything in between, to see which OS is more optimized. Will be done on the Tuxedo Stellaris 15.
- The internet as we know it is dying: should have been published this month, but didn't make it in time. It's a look at how the open internet is clearly being killed by a thousand small cuts, from the centralization of big tech companies, to their algorithm, to countries censoring parts of it, all the way to the alternative internet China has built.
- The current issues with AI tools: Basically a summary of what's happening in that sphere, the legal problems, the ethical ones, and my opinions on it. I've been talking about it in the patroncast, but this is an opportunity to better research the topic and formulate something more coherent.
- Best Nextcloud applications I use everyday: a look at all the excellent apps I use on my Nextcloud server every day to run this channel, and some desktop clients as well.
- Android and ChromeOS: are they Linux successes? This one nearly won twice in a row, so I'm offering it again, just in case!
So, vote for the ones you really want to see, and I'll pick the 3 that have the most votes!
In the meantime, stay tuned for the Linux news video, and podcast on Saturday, and have a nice weekend!
Nick
