8/16 Process Video
Added 2024-06-11 17:40:29 +0000 UTCIt’s been a while since I posted one of these. I’m gonna try and get back in the habit going forward. If the colors look weird it’s because I use Clip Studio Paint (which doesn’t allow you to work in CKMY) so I have to choose my colors with CKMY printing in mind. Enjoy!

I struggled with the same thought process, my chief worry being that my characters wouldn’t evolve visually over time as my art skills improved. Turns out that wasn’t a problem either. Even while working with templates you’ll still make the same happy mistakes that cause character designs to change over time. Plus you’re always free to sit down and actively revisit the designs at any time

It makes complete sense - why was I trying get over the hurdle of my own making worried about "cheating" when you're literally using reference of your own character - the things we tell ourselves! Thanks again Tauhid for sharing the whole process.

It always felt a bit like cheating. But a dirty secret about being an artist is, chances are, pretty much any artist whose work inspires you is doing something that you’d call “cheating”. Whatever helps you get the work done to a level of quality you’re happy with is fine. Just make art.
