Chimney sweeps.
Edit: holy hell the chimney sweep history is dark. The spaces were so tight they actually did the work naked. They often got stuck and died. Usually between 4-10 years old. If they were hesitant their masters would light fires (supposedly where to light a fire under someone’s feet came from). Numerous deformations to joints from the work. Eye problems from rubbing eyes with soot. Lung problems. It was the first reported occupational cancer (chimney sweeps’ carcinoma or soot wart, cancer of the scrotum).
And not surprisingly it only ended in England after numerous deaths but still continued in America.
Anyways, what I’m saying is cartoons lied to me and that child labor wasn’t an amusing existence.
