A message (and new video this Saturday)
Added 2024-05-16 22:22:27 +0000 UTCYou probably know I have a freelance job as a 'sound guy'. Thanks to your support I dare to be more 'selective' to what jobs I accept. Spending time on creating with total freedom is a true privilege that very few people have.
I started the Patreon to 'chase a newborn dream'. And combined with YouTube, Bandcamp and even a bit of music streaming I indeed make a small monthly income with creating, even though I've spend quite a lot of that on things for the videos.
Still my 'real' income comes from my freelance job. This makes it feel like I'm asking something I do not really need. And I can not get rid of the 'obligation pressure' even though I've been told by you, the Patrons, I shouldn't worry about that.
On the other hand I still dream of 'total freedom' and a place with all the space to realize any idea that comes up... And complex 'sound guy jobs' can demotivate me. From that perspective I should actually promote my Patreon much more, and interrupt the videos by lying about crap I've never used... 😉
But one always needs dreams. Every dream job just becomes work in the end. Working in a sound studio once was my dream job. Now I hate it and much prefer location sound. "Let dreams be dreams". I just came up with that 😅
So while I try to make up my mind, your support is obviously always deeply appreciated.

2024-05-23 20:53:01 +0000 UTCI love your content very much. It's truly unique and always a delight. I am trying to move away from YouTube premium and instead use that same money to support the few creators I like on Patreon. Perhaps offering a way to watch your videos ad free through the Patreon (Vimeo upload?) could draw more. I hope you find a balance that works for you 👍

2024-05-23 13:54:13 +0000 UTCOf the few other creators whom I support on patreon this can be a common thread of concern. I definitely echo the sentiments above that I am supporting you because I truly believe you are one of the most unique video makers on the platform. ever since I was recommended segmented segments like many others, I was hooked and have watched every single video several times over (including your older ones). I would support even if the quantity of videos reduced simply due to the adherent quality that your videos have.

2024-05-18 17:49:01 +0000 UTCI'd send you this money even if you decided to produce 1 video per year. Your videos with no 3rd party b-roll footage and original music are a beacon of light in these dark times.

2024-05-17 09:04:35 +0000 UTCSomething to consider: Patreon offers memberships that are "per video". Would that decrease your pressure to produce by not "taking" money when you're not publishing something? Otoh, it might increase pressure in another way by more strongly linking your income to productivity.

2024-05-17 07:32:19 +0000 UTCI joined your Patreon because of the videos that you’re already creating, not because of wanting more or expecting something special. We know what we’re signing up for on Patreon. I can see how a creator might feel a heightened sense of obligation when opening up a donation platform, so keep in mind that we’re all happily here of our own free will 😉 Thank you for sharing “you” with the world 🌎

2024-05-16 23:11:59 +0000 UTCDear Posy, I guess others have said this, but I’ll repeat: I send you this tiny bit of money for love of your artistry, and I want to see whatever you choose to create. No pressure. We need art (to see and to do) – not to survive, but to enjoy life.
