Hovel (19x16, 200px)

Hi folks!

Continuing the recent trend of maps to help fill the empty space in Barovia, this week we have a lovely little hovel in the forest. You could either have this serve as the home of one of Curse of Strahd's many NPCs, or invent an encounter of your own - perhaps the party stumble upon this empty hovel and find the fire and candles still lit, but there's no sight or sound of a living soul to be had.

I took a little inspiration for the layout of this one from a random shack in The Witcher 3 - I'm hoping to delve back into the game at some point to see what other locations can provide a little inspiration for future maps. There's just so much I love about the world of the game, it's just a shame I haven't gotten back to it in several months since I started my first PC playthrough.

I'm hoping to get back to working on larger maps for set locations in Barovia again soon - I'm attending a wedding this weekend, but after that, it should be easier to get back into the swing of things. Sorry for the delay and the chaos - it's been a strange time.

Also, we're currently one Patron away from hitting 100 - how wild is that? Thank you all so much for all of your support in this - it really means the world.

My maps are made with assets from Forgotten Adventures and AoA (bolstered with assets of my own making here and there), and they come with grid/gridless, day/night, edited/unedited, and light/lightless variants, plus JPEGs, WebPs with transparent backgrounds, or UVTT (DD2VTT) files for Foundry VTT.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm reluctant to add doors on the half-grid for that exact reason - you can get around it, but it can be a little inconvenient. Unfortunately, Dungeondraft doesn't always handle doors up against walls very well, so I sometimes have to go off the grid to avoid making a mess of things. I think I've found a solution so I can avoid that in future, though!

Hey hey! Just downloaded this map and pulled it into Foundry. I did notice that you've got a couple doors on the 1/2 grid, instead of the full grid. This means tokens don't line up evenly with the door, and if I want them to be able to go through the door, they'll either have to try to move at an angle or I have to make the door 2 grids wide instead of one. Just something to watch out for when added doorways - but just my 2 cents! :D
