Jiji's Family

I'm finally back from visiting the in-laws in Sweden! There were so many whimsical and unique buildings in Stockholm, I must have taken hundreds of photos. One in particular is of this historic little house at Terrassen 16, which used to be much longer but now only 1/5 of it remains, like a leftover slice of bread.

I used this photo I took as the reference for my painting.

Due to my hand pain, I normally use 3D models for architectural backgrounds, but I really wanted to draw this one from scratch.

The process was very meditative. I really miss the old days when I could just let my mind go blank as I fill in the details without worrying about how much time I have left in my hand use for the day.

It took 2 days of drawing on and off to rest my hand before finishing the base background. I added some extra flowers because they make me happy :)

Then I sketched in Kiki and Jiji's family because they 1000000% would live in a cute tiny house like this.You can download the 30 second timelapse in the attachment. The longer timelapse, as well as the HD image without watermark will be DMed on September 5th :)
