Castle Ravenloft Lower Dungeon - Dungeons & Catacombs (100x70, 160px)

It's done. It's finally done.

So... many... variants...

Castle Ravenloft's Dungeons and Catacombs concludes my second ever Complete Curse of Strahd Map Pack. I mean, technically it's not 100% complete, but I've done all the combat-ready battle maps from the adventure and some extra! I'll be tackling some missed spots in Berez soon, as well as some random encounters and community supplements, but if anybody has any ideas for what comes next, I'd love to hear them!

I'm also hoping to dip my toes into creating original encounters and maps to go with them soon, but don't tell anyone.

This one took a while because it's just such a large area (which is also why there are so many files - sorry!), but I also really wanted to do it justice, as it has so much potential to terrify your players, and because this is the last map in a project that has taken me some time to complete. There's a lot of detail here, and a couple of assets I had to create myself. I also decided to provide the Raising the Stakes variant from Lunch Break Heroes, as it always bugged me that the Brides just sort of... hang out in the dirt by Strahd's crypt. Is it creepy? Sure, but not in a good way.

The Raising the Stakes variants of the maps, modelled after  the supplement of the same name by  Lunch Break Heroes, features tombs for each of Strahd's consorts, and they are as follows:

18 - Ludmilla
19 - Anastrasya
36 - Volenta
40 - Escher

I've also included a layer for Crypts 14, 31, and 35, because I can definitely see a use for those in your game.

For those of you who like to have a lot of control over your maps, I've also made variants without the golems in the Brazier Room, and without many of the most significant magic items. I've provided WebP tokens for the golems, plus WebP files for most of the items in the area that players might want to pick up (so you can include the item as a tile that you can remove once players grab it, if you'd like - I've also included opened and closed versions of King Katsky's glider, because obviously this map wasn't demanding enough).
Note Regarding UVTT/DD2VTT File:

Like the Main Floor map, the UVTT file was too big to upload to Patreon, so to use the DD2VTT file, you'll need to import it as normal, and then change the background image to one of the JPEGs or WebP files, depending on your preference.

Thank you all so much for joining me so far - I'm almost sad to be moving beyond the official maps, but mostly I'm just excited for the freedom I'll have going forward. Stick around and we'll see where we go next!

-----

My maps are made primarily with assets from Forgotten Adventures and AoA (bolstered with assets of my own making here and there), and they come with grid/gridless, day/night, and light/lightless variants, plus JPEGs or UVTTs and transparent layers (PNGs or WebP, map depending) for Foundry VTT.

Thank you so much! And yes, it is. :)

Ahh it's beautiful!! Quick question - is the white marble room to the north Sergei's tomb? Just want to make sure I'm marking it up correctly.

I'll take a look, Sven - it would certainly be a cool addition to the build, so I'll do what I can!

I have a smalll feature request: would it be much of a bother to create a tile that shows the Trap in K81/K82 as triggered? I built an automatic trap using Monk's active tiles and would love to change the visible floor for my players as well. I edited a Tile myself using some other parts of the map, but a direct export from Dungeondraft might look better :D

I wish you luck, and I hope the game goes well! :)

I used XNViews Batch convert to Webp with 75 or 80 as quality and I cannot make out a difference to the originals with much smaller file sizes (some went down by 80%+) I am sure if you go pixel by pixel you might spot something. And yea but as I will have a game tonight I will have another look at levels after that.

Sven Schlaepfer

I really do recommend learning how to use Levels - it's a pretty fantastic addition to Foundry. Though, I know someone who's building Ravenloft using Levels, and apparently it can take quite a while to load in - if you want to build the whole thing on one scene, you might actually need to compress the files a little bit. Though, the person I'm referring to compressed them to something like 30% their original size and it seemed like the maps were still perfectly fine for regular use! I've been meaning to go over the old maps and re-export them to more manageable and consistent formats, but I'm a tad concerned about the fact that the Forgotten Adventures packs I was using then aren't compatible with the ones I currently use - I'll have to give it a shot sometime soon and see how well it works!

I might have to learn on how to use the levels plugin for Foundry now. With all the transparent layers you built :). Also I batch converted the older maps into WEBP much more manageable filesize

Thank you so much, Andy! I was pretty happy with the catacombs, honestly - though I don't know how I missed just how many of the names there are terrible puns until I started working on them for this one... The last one is perhaps the most troubling -'Tatsaul Eris'.

Vincent - Aonbarr Cartography

I really enjoyed seeing the details within each catacomb! Another great map!

Andy D'Amato

Thank you for signing up, Sven - it really means a lot! :)

I am so glad I found your post on Reddit - I will be your patron at least for a while and might have to redo all my maps in FVTT :D

Sven Schlaepfer

Absolutely - I really want to tackle the community content, as there's a lot of really great material in there! I'm going to finish up some of the core areas first, though - the Arasek Stockyard, Ulrich Manor, places like that I just never got to during this run because I felt I'd spent too long working on those areas!

Vincent - Aonbarr Cartography

Oh man, what if you did the maps for Interactive Tome of Strahd, and for St. Andrals Orphanage? Are those on your list?

Drodinn

Thank you, Drodinn! Thanks for making the suggestion - I had been thinking about doing something about the fact the Brides don't have any quarters in the castle, and I'd forgotten Raising the Stakes addresses the issue. So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Vincent - Aonbarr Cartography

You are amazing! Thanks for including the Raising the Stakes changes I asked for! My party heads to Ravenloft for the dinner this coming Sunday, and I'm so excited to have all of your maps for it!

Drodinn

Thank you, Alvin - I hope they like the maps and I hope you have fun getting them there! :)

Great work! Excited for my players to reach Ravenloft someday far far in the future.
