Brush test

Been experimenting more in Photoshop with different brushes. I'm still more used to SAI but I think I'm slowly making improvements. So far it's just been simple portraits so that I can get the hang of how the brushes work, but in the future I hope to do more varied work involving cities and different landscapes :)

HD file of this will be part of October rewads :)

I don't prefer one over the other, but I do think that each has their own strength and weaknesses. I think if I use the program more, I'll be better prepared to use the right program for certain aspects of a painting or obtaining a certain style for a painting. And it's great to have the options to switch between programs and styles. More options is always better.

I'm so sorry to hear that you went through similar pains. I hope things are better for you now. It is hard but we should be never ashamed of speaking the truth. I wish you the very best no matter where you are in life.

Yuumei, I just wanted to say that your latest inktober post (11, cruel) really resonated with me. I remember when you first mentioned the knife incident on your deviantart 8, 9 years ago or so- I was so awestruck to realize that it was okay to talk about abuse, that hating your parents or being afraid of them didn't mean you were a bad person. It really meant a lot to realize that, and I wanted to thank you for talking about that kind of stuff. I know how hard it can be.

So would you say overall that you'd prefer Photoshop for painting? I used SAI for years simply because I don't like how much bloat Photoshop has to it's programs. But Photoshop brushes DO look awfully nice.
