Not a LOT in this one but again, it's comic con week so been a little busy. Just a couple extra girl sketches to tide us over. I did try giving that character from SAFE, Agent Rook, a new design for her hair. But I wasn't feelin the short hair style for her...

Ghostober Set 01 - 05

Thuse begins spooky season. It's been a minute since I've done any kind of challenge. And I'll admit this may not be the best time for one as life is gonna be busy for the next week or so. But so it goes. It's cool to have a creative challenge. The challenge this time is to draw a ghost almost every day of this month.

This kinda thing lets me flex my muscles a bit. I mean I could certainly just draw 30 cute ghost girls. But the real fun is getting creative. There are more than a few way...

This was actually a bit of a commission, the commissioner liked the original black and white sketch enough that they funded a full color version. I plan to offer that service as well, for sketches that people would like to guarantee get a completed version. Otherwise, it's usually up to my whim.

This was a fun one, I like to think I've gotten pretty okay at drawing snake hair and that's a surprisingly valuable skill for an illustrator.

So hey, it's the end of the month, and I wanted to thank all my patrons again. It's been a bit of a trying month, and I know many have it harder than I. But still, I couldn't keep doing this without your support. To that end, let me fill you in on some plans for now.

September Sketch Pile

Just a number of unfinished sketches this month and one pose study session. A couple notable ones at the end there. I was drawing Marcille, Fone Bone, and Psyduck again. I've been enjoying the idea of putting them into some kinda crossover series of drawings. It's just a weird crossover that makes a lot of sense to me. They're a heck of an adventuring party!

Hey folks, this was kinda a short-notice, quick commission. I was happy to revisit this with an old commissioner who wanted a sequel to an old drawing of Suzie and Colette as sci-fi maid girls. I'll be trying to do more of these soon. I'll keep you all posted, and patrons will be the first to see the new simplified commission sheet.

I have been asked to draw a "starro pic" more than a few times and for some reason I decided now was the time. Just seemed fun to do and I was getting comfortable with shading weird things. I just hope Cass' brain is intact after this. The heroes that get free of Starro are fine afterwards, right?

On the menu

I just wanted to paint some food again. Something about it as an exercise, especially drawing food "freehand" without a direct reference is very soothing. I like trying to match colors to real life while also exaggerating certain colors to evoke the memory or the sensation of the food rather than the literal picture of it. Maybe if this whole pinup thing doesn't work out, I can find work sketching beautiful food.

Last weekend I had the pleasure to visit a Star Trek show/convention in New Jersey. I was only there for a short time but I got to see some people like Kira, Dax and other Dax in person. But I went ahead and got a signature from Gabrielle Ruiz who voiced T'Lyn on Lower Decks. Turns out the team loved that fanart I did ages ago so I had to go and do another one.

I rather like how the blue came out here.

This was kinda one of my favorite sketches last month and I'd been meaning to give it a good color pass. I'm still not quite done with it, but I have to say I love how the mossasaur looks!

Look at My Heroes Go

I've mentioned this before, but I like drawing Froppy because it's essentially a license to draw exaggerated poses. And then I figured, well that extend to the rest of the My Hero cast too. I threw in a Mirko and an Ochako for good measure. And I'm thinking I should probably draw Mirko more often. I mean... seems like that's someone coded for me to draw.

That sure was a Baldur's Gate

So, last weekend was the last session of Baldur's Gate 3 with my friend Brellom. You've probably all heard of this game; some of you have probably beaten it! But we took about a year and a half to beat our co-op game because we wanted to do as much as we could without skipping ahead past each other.

I think that made it one of the most unique game experiences I've ever had, playing it across such a long period of time and with a friend the whole way thro...

Okay, so it was my pal Wossarem's birthday the other day and well, their OC Aer looks a good deal like Ashley. So... frugal artist that I am... it really wasn't a LOT of work to turn the Ashley sketch into an Aer pic for a kinky birthday piece. Woss seemed to like it!
