What makes good writing can often be subjective. Some people love extra lore, some don’t. Some people love character dives, but others prefer plot more. Because it’s all subjective at the end of the day, so too can be some mistakes of writing and storytelling that annoy people more than others. However, there can be some elements that some of us can collectively agree on.
For me, I am sick to death of stories that start off immediately with the main character saying their name, like...

It's been four years since the apocalypse. Cities across the Midwest and all of North America lie in ruins due to severe climate change and natural disasters. A former juvenile delinquent named Donovan is trying to survive as the weather gets more chaotic. While journeying up north, the Doberman comes across an...interesting trio of black cat brothers. Plus, their rugged survivalist father.
Here's a direct sequel to "Second Chances", in which we focus on Donovan and the Sauvet...

I've always wanted to write a short story about a gay porn star enjoying retirement. If you think this should ...

Another case involving Bram Heathcliff and friends! <3 Once again, it's nice to do more stories involving Goodbye, New Mexico. Hopefully, the Paranormal Hunters Society will find more strange evidence in the coming future and unlock the ghost town's secrets. These connected mysteries will be in a new dossier our group has dubbed 'The Goodbye Files'.
In this story, the group discusses a strange case involving evil twins.

Some of us are big fans of horror, whether it's reading a Stephen King novel or playing a furry visual novel like "Echo" or its prequel "The Smoke Room". It can excite us or make us question our reality, but most of all, it should be able to scare us. With that said, what are some elements of horror stories or movies that you absolutely cannot stand?
Personally, I'm torn between two clichés out there that I can't stand. The first cliché comes down to when a story has filler. This kind...

Some of us have fictional characters we like, some we dislike, others we love, others we despise, but then there are the characters we started off really disliking but grow fond of as a story continues. I can think of quite a few instances of this happening to me whenever I read a book, watched a movie, TV show, anime, etc. Too many choices, really.
If I had to narrow it down though, I'd have to end up choosing Katsuki Bakugo, from the anime "My Hero Academia". This anime started airin...

While browsing through FurAffinity a month ago, I came across this artist named Angelo-Falls, and two drawings they made that depicted a Fox & the Hound AU that not only depicted the main characters as anthros, but with Tod and Vixey in a polyamorous triad with Copper, a hunter. If you wanna see the artwork that inspired this short fanfic, you can see the attached artwork and check out the links below. Angelo-Falls is an extremely talented artist who deserves more attention!

Those who have even an interest for fantasy have plenty reasons to love it. Sometimes it’s the story or characters or the imaginative setting itself that sucks us in.With that said, there are some tropes or cliches of fantasy stories that often annoys us to no end.
Me? There are two Fantasy clichés that I can think off the top of my head that I really cannot care for. The first is when a story is clearly ripping off another more popular one in terms of plot or magic system or even s...

A few years ago, I became part of a furry anthology themed around polyamorous relationships called "Paw-ly Love", edited by Thurston Howl with the beautiful cover + interior illustrations drawn by TheVale.
The story I submitted is titled "Ambrosia and Nectar" and follows the Olympian god Apollo as he reunites with two of his mortal male lovers, named Erastos and Alcaeus, for a trip up to Mount Olympus following a year of sabbatical from each other. While up in the realm of the god...

Taking place in my post-apocalyptic world of "Second Chances", this story focuses on a character who lives in an enclaved city, a settlement erect by the rich and powerful who survived the Collapse. At first, I originally wanted to keep this at around 1,000 words, but I loved the protagonist and the worldbuilding so much, I somehow extended it to be beyond 3k words.

You can include yourself if you want to, LOL.
In all seriousness though, I feel like the most talented of writers don’t get the most attention like they should, both inside the fandom and outside of it. Most of the time, they can fall between the cracks and not receive as many readers as they should for their stories. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found amazing work that were posted years ago but never updated. Or the author continues to post but doesn’t get as much traff...

Having recently gone to Anthrocon for the 4th of July, I had quite a blast! I got to hang out with friends, go to Artist Alley and the Dealers Den, as well as endure 'line con' while getting registered. During which I got the idea to parallel the downsides of a furry convention with the 9 Circles of Hell from "Dante's Inferno". What do you think of what I managed to come up with?

When I was 18 and in my final year of high school, I desperately wanted to go to Midwest Furfest for the first time and experience a furry convention. So when my mom and dad asked me what I wanted to do for my 18th birthday, I asked if they could take me to MFF 2014 in December, which then required me to explain what the furry fandom was and what the convention centered around. Luckily, neither of my folks had heard of the negative stereotypes about furries, so all I needed to do was say that...

Childhood is such a weird thing. On the one hand, it feels so different from adulthood that some of it feels more like a dream than things that actually happened. On the other hand, our memories of childhood shape who we are as people.
If I needed to pick one vivid childhood memory, it would have to be biking around my neighborhood, which stood between the countryside and the suburban blocks near the inner city. I remember spending some summers biking all the way from my house to a mal...
