Tutorials/Guides

Hey everyone!  Presently I'm working on the latest comic chapter (some of which I'll share with you all shortly) but for my future reference, I thought I ought to ask what sorts of tutorials you might be interested in seeing.  

If you have an opinion, feel free to pick more than one. I'll just use this to gauge relative interest.  (Also, thanks in advance for your input!)

Wrinkles

I've had a number of requests over the past while for a guide to drawing clothing wrinkles, and I finally got around to it. It's an expansive topic and I probably only brushed the surface in a lot of areas, but I do hope it's at least useful enough to be worthy of the time it takes to load the image...>_>

If viewing a problem, I'll break this into separate images.

I will also upload a higher resolution downloadable PDF for all $2+ patrons shortly!

Gallery Feature

Testing out this new gallery post option that allows for multiple images. Been waiting for a long time for this functionality.  Hopefully it's nice and user friendly on everyone else's end too.

Some art I've done over the past while for the Wild West Cat Fanciers group. I've been proud to be able to work with them, not only because they're good people and because Kat's fun to draw, but because they are very excellent to their felines and go out of their way to promote shelter adoptions at their shows too.

Anyway,  it's not directly related to Lackadaisy, but I thought some of you might enjoy seeing some of the artwork here.

The audio cuts out a bit in places. I do apologize for that. This was a first attempt at a Discord-based voice chat and there are some kinks to iron out. Next time, I'll use the 'push to speak' method to try to mitigate that issue.  That aside, I think it went well. Speaking for myself at least, I had a great time! Thank you to everyone who came to ask questions or just to listen!

Rougarou

From a request for a Serafine-style werewolf. It turned out a bit creepier than intended, but I suppose Serafine wouldn't have it any other way. At least she brought her own boar's head for the barbecue. (That's what BYOB means, right?)

Gowns and galas aren't really her scene, but maybe for one evening...

From a request for Elsa looking somewhat more lighthearted than usual in a new dress. Got a bit carried away with it.

Stylized Characters PSD

The downloadable attachment here is a PSD file broken down into silhouette, line, color, shadow, detail and texture layers.

Feel free to muck around with it, recolor the line art, or clip individual characters out, photoshop them into compromising situations and extort them for blackmail moneys.

"Stylized" Character Collection

Well, I finally added color to the whole heap.  I don't know if 'stylized' is the proper word here, though - these are perhaps just more 'simplified' than anything. I'm left feeling like I should have pursued bolder, more exaggerated shapes with these. Nevertheless, it was a good exercise for an artist who tends to lose sight of overall form in the process of over-rendering and chasing after details. I'll try again someday for something more daring.

I've been fighting with the colors on this for hours now. They're not quite right, but May is ending, so I had better set it down for the moment. This is the first part of the next chapter, which I'll attempt to wrap up fully in June. This will remain a Patron only preview in the meantime, though.
I've got some extra artwork to share this weekend as well!

Attempted Stylizing

Meanwhile, here's something else I've had in progress for a while (I've shared the top four in the past).
In art, sometimes the most difficult thing is trying to override your usual habits - rendering, detailing, and texturing everything to death, uh, for instance.  Here I'm instead trying to distill the characters down to fewer lines to rely more on overall shape, and to push those shapes somewhere a bit bolder. The prompt for the especially creepy second to last image was "if Rocky was the murderer". I guess we'll just pretend this is an AU in which he wouldn't immediately fall off the railing into a spiky shrubbery.

This took longer than my projection because I added the next update to it as well. This way, it's much longer than it would have been had I posted it last week, and it wraps up this segment. When it came down to it, I couldn't really justify spreading this bit out across multiple updates.  On to another chapter and different characters next time.

Hey guys,

Just posting to say the comic update will be along mid-week for Patrons.

I've had bronchitis for a not insignificant chunk of March, and though I'm just about back at 100%, I just didn't have the stamina I needed to drag this thing across the finish line this weekend like I had wanted to.

Body Pillow

A patron had asked for a sketch of Mordecai, body pillow style, for her birthday. (Mordecai brought his usual enthusiasm to bear.  Also, his electric iron.)
Well, it turns out she actually went and had a body pillow made out of it.
