I need to work on some story pages, just to keep some good content going here—- I feel the pages of my stories are the meat and potatoes of my Patreon page… all the rest are extras, and though necessary these bits and pieces of getting issue 1 together aren’t what you are here for and need to be at least mixed in with some narrative work.

Stray Bullet back page ads Sneak Peek!

One thing I am doing for the book is a page of ads. I love fake ads in other books, so I gotta do it myself!

I have 13 to cram into the page, and only 1 is for a real thing (Tannis, William O. Tyler and I’s publishing house). This ad here for Doug’s cam service was the first I came up with, and the first I have finished to show to y’all as the preview image!

Garak Tattoo design

Here’s something I finished last night, a drawing for a tattoo I did today. Always happy to tattoo Star Trek characters, especially my favorites like Andrew Robinson’s played-as-queer Cardassian, Garak, the tailor and definitely not a spy on Deep Space Nine.

I’m busy working on some website stuff (for viewing my comix) and a splash page to end Fire in the Rain, so nothing to show for a preview panel this week. So here’s a doodle I did back in ‘16, I think it was a backer drawing for the Hard to Swallow Collected Volume Kickstarter. I colored it a few years later. Would this make a good shirt?

January Sticker - Pisser!

I am actually a little surprised that this one overwhelmingly won the poll. It’s the drawing of that lot that I put the least effort into, but maybe the most emotion.

Symposium (archive)

Still finishing up page 27 of FITR so here’s an archive post to hopefully hold you over! My stride has been sorely interrupted by the holidays, getting caught up in playing some video games a little too much, and getting sick from my booster shot (I got pretty sick from the 2nd Moderna shot, too).

So this is an unused tattoo design, meant to be a band around a thigh. I had certainly heard of symposia before, but had no idea until being asked to design this just what the original meani...

Stag Party - archive

Not the first thing I did for gay magazine illustrations, but the first one I did with a Wacom… digital pen. Not a Cintiq, which is a digital pen where you draw on the screen, but the one where it’s just a pen on a big hard mousepad. It was as a learning curve, so much better than just using a mouse, but so much worse that actually drawing on the screen. Nowadays I just use an iPad.

Anyway, this was for Unzipped, who I illustrated many articles and fiction...

I came across this while digging through some old artwork on a backup drive, an unused logo for a friend. I do believe I was inspired by Kirby’s OMAC when drawing that mohawk.

Yellow is the Warmest Color Kickstarter update

Hey all, the Kickstarter for the anthology didn’t make its goal, which means anyone who backed it will not be charged. Thanks for your support in any case. This was a tough ask—- a very niche subject, and a high goal that would pay each artist fairly. These were probably the main factors in not reaching the goal, though there are certainly others.

The editors are working on plan B to get the book made and I’ll definitely pass on news as I learn it.

Happy birthday, Nichelle Nichols

Yesterday was Nichelle’s 89th birthday and I had been wanting to draw her lately, so here we are. She’s also been getting some notice because of her conservatorship… she’s been in decline in mental acuity for some years now, and her son and her ex are trying to take control of her estate. Her friends say she’s perfectly capable… it’s a sad story of elder abuse. This lovely lady certainly deserves better.

James requested Feral in a Gi, and I was happy to oblige. I tried doing this in a mixed medium style, paint on top of inks, digitally of course.

James is a long long time internet friend and I am happy to have him on board as a patron. I know we were friends on myspace, and possibly even before that (iambme maybe).

Hey all!

Running a little behind on finishing page 26, what with LAComicCon last weekend, the day job, and getting to go to a film premiere yesterday up in Hollywood. So here’s a second preview panel! Finished page is imminent!

Yokai Flash page 1/ flash suggestions from patrons please

So the Yokai designs were for a first sheet of Yokai flash, flash sheets tend to be 11”x14”. I intend on doing more flash sheets, another Yokai one, and others of themes yet to be determined. So, to make this all more interesting to my patrons, I want to synergize them with what I do otherwise on my Patreon.
