So the perspective on that first panel is not the best thing I've drawn...

Like I mentioned back in page 5, Walter having JUST moved in to the apartment serves two purposes: first, it gives him an excuse to not have had time to study, and second, it gives ME an excuse to not have to waste time drawing elaborate backgrounds (and I still managed to fuck it up). After having to draw a squat rack from like 20 different angles, these next pages are such a breeze to do.

So, this should explain Walter's brief unnecessary interaction with the cat lady back in page 5. Hope it takes a little bit of the sting out of having to wait all those weeks before we got to the good stuff, taking my time setting stuff up like this lets me have small pay-offs like this later on.

The whole page is a dumb little joke but I think it's necessary as a little handwave moment for people thinking too hard about the consequences of a professor fucking his student, between this ...

I'm running into a bit of a problem with these drawpolls, in the sense that I have a lot of ideas for BMZ strips but they kind of hinge on me going back to the weekly schedule, and that's going to have to wait a while until Outclassed is finished.

Good thing is, I do have some stuff planned for some of the side characters...

Hoo boy this fucking page.

So as you can see from the rough sketch to the work in progress to the final version, I kept tweaking the dialogue because the more I thought about this scenario (and I have had plenty of time to think about it, the rough sketch was done in April 2021), the more uncomfortable the situation looked as depicted on that first draft.

So I figured I should make as many tweaks as necessary to convey that, yeah, Walter is 100% into this, just, you know, not in p...

Got commissions finished a little later in the month this time because Minotaur Hotel 0.6.0 took up a lot of my time in the past weeks, but thankfully I got them all done on time. Here they are!

So something I started doing when drawing the lineart for pages starting with this one is adding a little fat fold on the back of Suarez's neck. I think it's cute.

Compared to the rough sketch I drew Walter leaning into it a little more, dude's totally into it.

One thing I briefly considered was to have Suarez make an observation about Walter's rainbow wristband as a confirmation that he's into dudes and therefore making the assumption that his student is looking at his bulge ever...

Drawpoll reward 15 - Young Boomer (1/2)

I have a busy month ahead of me, so I decided to get the month's drawpoll reward done right away. You guys overwhelmingly voted to see young Boomer and I'm happy to oblige (though I had some killer ideas for adult Zoomer).

The one thing I'm not happy with this page is that I didn't really plan the angles very well to illustrate the motion (I broke the rule of 180 , even) so that could have been better but I wanted the central panel to be the largest and get the most attention and that didn't leave a lot of room for the rest, so I focused on facial expression for the second to last one.

But oh well at the end of the day I get to start drawing Suarez shirtless from this page on and that's what matters

Ok so this is the big apology post for making it 12 pages into a smut comic without any lewd stuff, now that we're finally here. Even stories like these, I think, benefit from traditional storytelling techniques like build up and pay off, a three act structure or giving the protagonist a character arc.

Point is, now that I've spent 12 pages setting stuff up, it's time to start paying it off.

Not much to say about this page in particular other than I didn't know what weight to put ...

I wondered if I should have put more thought bubbles here to explain Walter's thought process, but I think it works better if it's ambiguous whether he wants the professor to go away and hopes he'll get bored and leave, or if he's considering taking up the offer, and if so, if it's to legitimately listen to the advice and improve his squat form, or just to have direct physical contact with him.

I guess we'll see in the next page.

A little insight on making this comic: as you can see, I swapped their positions in the first panel from the rough sketch to the finished version because it was breaking the 180 rule.

For those not on the know, it's a film rule: you should not swap the position of characters on the screen between shots when switching to a new angle. Naturally this applies to comics too, but with the additional complication that you have to coordinate the reading order with, for example, which character ...

When I said I wanted to do this comic to practice more exaggerated poses this page has a couple examples of the kind of stuff I wanted to get better at, especially the third panel.

Also fuck yes, we finally got to the point where the story gets more interesting.
