Filing this under "WIP" because there's probably still some minor touch-ups I might want to do.  Still kinda playing with this paper texture I'm trying to add to it to make it look a little noisier.    But anyway, sketches!  Looks like Natani and Keith topped the poll, then the FutaKat and Flora pic, and then Seff and Jen.  I may have to math that last one out to be double-sure, but the others are clear enough winners.

May 2022 Bronze Poll

Since I'm still going to put most of my effort into trying to squeeze page 2 of the comic into this month, this month's poll is only to determine which of the thumbnails will be expanded into full sketches.  I'm not sure how many winners we'll have - that'll largely depend on how well (or how poorly) progress on the comic is going.  But as before, I'll start with whatever gets the most votes, and work my way down.

Just six this month, though they're all a bit more polished than my thumbnails usually are, due to their resolution.  The Natani/Keith gym sketch is one of those that I just never was very happy with how it came out; in trying to provide a good 'view' of the action and getting stuck with how Natani was sitting on the equipment, Keith's positioning never made sense.  He essentially had to be kneeling on an unseen box and everything was just awkward and bleh.  Maybe this is too f...

First two requests for this month and I went a bit off the script for them.  The first was a double request for Futakat and Flora doggystyle - but I thought that it could be spiced up with some portal shenanigans.  The second was a double request for fem Sythe and Scarlet with beach shenanigans, but, eh... didn't really have a lot of ideas for the two of them that activated my almonds.  But I had some interesting thoughts for Scarlet and her unnamed bar hookup.

After a bit of experimenting I think I've got the shading techniques down that I want to use for the rest of the comic.  We'll see.  I'd really like to keep things consistent, so I hope I've set things up correctly such that this method will still look good on the later pages.  Also, reveal of the title of the comic, "Sunny Side Up."

Basically ready for shading.  I might do something to spice the towels up a little bit, try to make them more interesting than just plain white, but yeah.  Style-wise, thinking I'll keep the black frame, maybe crop it a bit tighter, and include page numbers, title, etc on the frame.

May 2022 Requests

Well, we haven't seen this copypasta in a couple months.  As explained last post, we'll try to get some requests going this month - I'm not sure how many we will do, because I still want to make progress on the comic, but I'm also kinda over the hill that I felt was preventing me from getting to the inking/coloring/finishing stage on these pages.  I think we'll do the batch of thumbnails and polls for sketches, but I'm not 100% sure, I didn't think too hard about it and we'll just s...

Inks complete on page 1, was able to start flat coloring last night.  I think I'll be able to start shading, but I don't think I'll be able to finish before the end of the month.  Which is mildly disappointing, but the page is also close enough to finished that I don't care if I miss the end of month deadline by a couple days.  It's real, tangible progress on getting this comic complete.

Definitely needed a warmup before I tackle the changes I need to do to the sketch for page 1.  Did get the background sketched/lined over, still some more details to add (like nametags on the lockers and maybe an OSHA work safety poster in the background).  Gamergirl Laura getting plowed on stream sounded like fun, so I picked that up and did something with it.

All the 3d shots in their proper places.  There are some changes that I ended up having to make, like on page 1 panel 1.  I had originally drawn Makwa thigh up there, but to fix the perspective I had to scale Makwa up and move her a little.  So no full frontal on the opening panel.  There are some others where I may make corrections, or I might just say, "whatever" and roll with the sketch - like page 1 panel 2, Makwa is wrapping the towel around herself.  The shower ...

Sorry guys, I really dropped the ball on posting any WIPs this month.  I haven't been idle, just... Alright, this sketch is done.  Next up is the Ivy/Flora/Trace one.  The original request was weighted a bit towards human Trace, but do you guys think I should go with tiger Trace instead?  It's not a huge change either way, since I tried to keep things reasonable without going for a full 3 character pic.

February 2022 Bronze Sketch Poll

Alright, 8 thumbnail sketches.  Adding to the previous listed requests, we've got a POV of Kimber for Fuji Mori, and Russel and Liyu for BluePhantom90.  Their request technically asked for Liyu in tiger bodypaint, but I thought a kigurumi would be cuter, and may make a bit more sense visually/be better able to tell who the character is supposed to be.  Polls will be coming up in a few minutes.

The second sketch from January.  I've picked and thought through 6 of the 8 thumbnails, started sketching them tonight.  I've got some ideas on what to do for 7 and 8, but I'm not 100% set on them.  Looking to try and get those all ready by Tuesday, and get the poll up and running then.

February 2022 Requests

February is the shortest month of the year, and having the comic as a complication makes me a little less certain about how this is all going to shake out, but what I would like to try and do is a set of requests using the thumbs and poll method, a poll to finish a sketch (used as another test bed for comic coloring), and in interim periods I work on a few of the rougher areas in the comic, take all the 3d ref screenshots/renders I need for the backgrounds, generally make it ready for inking,...

And that's all 8 pages, with the major sketching done.  There's still a few things here and there that I'll want to touch up, and backgrounds to do, but I always feel like all this sketching is what takes me the longest, so I feel like it's all downhill from here.  Maybe that's optimistic, but my goal was to get the rest of the pages sketched this month, so I'm gonna call this a win.

Page 7 is sketched.  Ended up throwing out the original thumbnail, just felt like the pose was too similar to the central panel of page 6, felt too repetitive even if it was a natural pose for them to end up in for mandatory cuddles.  Poll winners are the snow basitin & snow wolf, and the ripeness check, but I haven't done the math for third place yet.
