Sketch commission process

Showing some sliiight favouritism here, its a commission for a friend and it's also a ship I like, so I spent a little extra time offering different poses haha! (Kakyoin/Jotaro)

Not a lot of process to show since its such a tiny sketch, but I figured I'd share it anyway!

Hermit & Hiker- Vals house concepts 1

I've still only really got one room and the exterior planned, but I figured this was enough to share! I'm still chipping away at it all, I had an idea of Val's house, and then made as close as I could get in the sims, and I'm working from that because my brain isn't great at fitting rooms together! It's strange how places sometimes just appear in your head, I've never been anywhere like this house, but it was so solid in my mind already while I was writing.

Commission process

This was good fun! It's really nice to work from such a good reference picture (concept art from a game), it makes the finished character feel so much more real and 3D.

I should have another two CC pages out later this week, a sketch commission, and with any luck a concept art dump for the hermit and hiker, so stay tuned! (also the monthly sketchbooks, at the start of next month :))

I realised it seemed a little ungrounded, to have Marnie lead down a staircase that hadn't yet been shown in the room because of the angles I'd used. I tried to zoom out and show a little of Alex at the desk, to try and give it more of a place, but I still wish I had noticed beforehand! I think I'll include a panel shortly of a customer at the desk with Alex, and the stairs and curtain from the other side :P

Val & Fliss Process

I've missed patterns! I pretty much copied a simplified version of an existing pattern and changed the colours around, but it''s so satisfying to make something look so much more detailed with minimal effort.

I'm so sad to have lost the movement in the sketch though, I feel like it has more flow and emotion to it!

You can see I actually lost the sketch for this one! Thankfully I used part of it as an update post, and sent a bad photo of my screen to my partner so I was able to cobble together something! There's nothing more crushing than having to re-do a page from scratch. (it's only happened to me twice but Ouch)

you can see I stuck pretty closely to the main shapes of the references, but changed the palette quite a bit! I wanted it to match the interior of the shop, so it's not so jarring when it gets to the next page :P

Chapter 5 Concepts

I'm really hoping the contrast of the green and orange works well in the comic itself! I seem to have a good habit of setting scene colours and then changing them when it gets down to it :S. I feel like the deep green, gold, and black are colours I see as Juliens signature colours, and I never really get to use them!

I'm quite sad that I can't spend much time on details here, I know that when I go to paint it in my comic style, it'll all be lost anyway! But hopefully my next more line f...

Pokemon Gymsona Process

I realised towards the end that I should have coordinated my characters colours with the pokemon they use, a missed opportunity! 

I did however, use elements of the pokemon to design the clothes and shapes- 

-the hat from hatterene
-the tassels like grimmsnarls teeth, the coat like its fur, the fringe shape too!
-The electric symbol in the fringe is from toxel.
-The wrap/hair idea comes from frosmoths big chest poof.

The $3+ tier has some development work for next chapter coming shortly, and a process of a pokemon gymsona, so hold tight :)!
