Thanks for the support, as always!

Next months might be a little different, because I want to take part in inktober. I'm not sure how many I'll manage, but for each inktober the $1 tier will get the initial sketch, and the $3 tier will get some process images. I think I'll compile the $1 sketches into the monthly pdf, and I'll probably make a few process posts through the month for the $3 <3

Also! I've been slowly getting further and further past the 'character q&a' goal, ...

You can see I rethought the 3 separate colour schemes after I did the rough colours, and ended up mixing the blues and pinks throughout, since it felt too disjointed!

I never thought I'd need to look up youtube videos on how to pull a pint, but here I am :P. (I couldn't find any reference of behind the bar!)
I put a tiny sequence of Rosemary and Terri in there, because I'm terribly self indulgent ;).
Also, you can see I copied the placement and angles of the crowd loosely, and then worked from that! I generally like to learn things from scratch, but comics often require shortcuts ;).

I have three colour schemes for this scene so far- one with a pink filter, one with a blue filter, and one with a peachier tone, hopefully I can pull it off! I was originally just going to do it all pink, but I prefer the idea of the light changing as though the light in the venue is flashing!

I tried to take a few more shots of the second pic, I hope it sheds a little more light onto my process! I feel like the step between base colours and final is so big sometimes! I basically reduce the opacity of the sketch and draw over the lines I want to keep, before getting rid of the sketch. I generally work from light to dark, outline wise, to make sure I don't go overboard with the darkest lines! (you can see I used dark grey in Rosemary's hair very sparingly, and darker lines on the fa...

Finally finding my footing with goofy expressions! I felt like the more realistic style didn't leave as much room for exaggeration like this. Though I do miss it, and I hope I can find a middle ground when my wrist doesn't need so many breaks! I'm especially sad about the corners I have to cut with backgrounds. Atm I'm spending so much less time on each page so I don't overuse it. It IS getting better though, and I'm so grateful I didn't mess it up for good :S!

September Sketch Poll

This months Nintendo Direct got me excited :3c

I'm not sure how many characters I can do, but I'll definitely get one or more of the trio in!

Rosemary/Terri process

I took a really easy route with the colours here, and took the palette from the comic, using colour adjustments to make it more purple!
i'm also trying to use the flatter style from charity case on a more detailed scale, I tried to keep the palette pretty restricted, and limited blending a lot!

Early access painting

I'm saving this for the silver anthology kickstarter release, so I figured I'd give it to you guys earlier!

The sketch will be in the monthly pdf, and the process will be up shortly for the indie tier <3.

I had to be careful about where I put the speech bubbles on this one! Because I made the panels diagonal, the eye naturally wants to go to the highest panel, and read backwards, so I tried to counteract it with speech bubbles to lead the eye to the next panel. I hope it worked! Sometimes my wacky panelling is a bit Too wacky ;).

Included the rough sketch here! I start by blobbing the shapes and basic expressions down, basically getting a base to do a proper sketch onto! I erase and re-draw sections as I go to make it clearer. 

You can also see that I sometimes disregard background detail/colour when I think it'll distract, and add it in for quiet moments that I want the reader to spend longer on. (though its still pretty basic haha)

As happy as I am with the new style, it did feel quite empty, so I'm experimenting with some grainy textures to give it more energy!

This is also seriously inspired by manga, I love how the characters have like...shorthand forms, and then detailed pretty forms (especially when it's really exaggerated, like in full metal alchemist brotherhood :P) so the last panel is them sorta snapping to pretty mode (especially Marnie, who I draw as a circle with a dumb expression 90% of the time).
