I want to call special attention to that roof in the middle of this shot with the chair and the drying rack, because it took me way longer than it deserved for when it's ultimately just an invisible, blurry mess of pixels after being scaled down. I've tried to include a number of things in this image to make Kuserra feel like a place that people live in.
This page is coming along nicely though and I am learning a LOT about how I can use my skills to get a little bit faster at draw...

Figured I'd wrap up the year with a little bit of art comparison. The Maxes on top are from ~January-March 2020. The Max on bottom is from much closer to the end of the year.

Chapter 5 was supposed to continue for a few more pages yet, but, thinking on it a bit more, it's already starting to get a little too long and that last page was a great place to end the chapter on. My backgrounds suck! That's a given. They take me forever and they never look very good when I'm done. I think often (and not fondly) of Page 13, which took me a month to draw, painstakingly trying to add each individual rock. So this week I announced that my higher tier patrons will have the ability to provide character concepts for a background character that will live in Kuserra and can sometimes appear in sketches or have cameos in the background. I realized as I was trying to work harder on making my backgrounds look... halfway decent... that there's going to be a lot of slots for background characters that can be really anyone, and I've been wanting to find more ways to thank my patrons for their support.

This sketch got cut from the page I'm currently working on, but before I decided to go another direction with the panel, I did get it almost to the point where I was about ready to do the final linework. Seemed a shame not to share it -- I'm really happy with how he looks lately.
