 I'm sorry. I shouldn't contribute to old memes. I always get around to them long, long after they are funny. But after that last sketch, I just had to draw this.

It just amuses me to think that Kiera, who is usually immune to most things because of her ability to bend reality in her favor, was wronged by Riley at some point, in some form. Perhaps nothing might upset her more than something she couldn't control.

So chill out, Kiera, it's just a piercing.

I've never liked the name God Slayers.  I wrote a post on it way before the comic launched.  It was derived from the first draft of the comic, back when the story was VASTLY DIFFERENT from what it's evolved into.  Even then, it was a title that was just... good enough at the time.  Nothing more.  Over time, I find myself trying to distance my comic from it more and more.  I'm not even putting it in the new website header graphic, as a matter of fact.  Probab...

Arguing Again

 I don't know what the twins are arguing about today, but I couldn't help but feel like it's somehow Riley's fault. I mean, she IS a cat, after all.

Just finished drawing the final page of Chapter 3 last night!  Woo!  Next up, you guessed it, Chapter 4!
Anyway, here we see where Max lives!  Is that a scary, heavily armed and armored guard standing there?  Perhaps!  Is that a well-lit building with a relatively clean path outside?  Maybe!  Is that a giant painting of Max on the side of the building there?  Yes.  Yes it is.

Switching to PNG format

I read somewhere that saving as JPG, even as the highest quality JPG, results in some artifact-ation and loss of detail and color, so starting with page 51, I'm going to be switching over to PNG... also saving the images in a slightly higher resolution going forward.

Perhaps one day, that'll make a larger difference for my higher quality scenes, but I'd rather make the change now when it matters less, than make it in the future when the difference will be more jarring for some people. 2020-02-26 21:49:55 +0000 UTC View Post

The amount of detail going into these pages is precisely why I've fallen so far behind already... well... that, and poor time management, but hey, I am trying to improve on multiple fronts!

Max is Adorable!

Kiva meets Donno

 I've had this minicomic in the reserve stack of things to post for awhile now... but there seems like no better time to share it than after Donno had a chance to shine earlier in the chapter!

This is the first time Kiva met Donno, not long after arriving in Kuserra. What followed was no doubt a beautiful and lasting friendship.

This isn't where this story ends, of course. There's between one and three more pages, perhaps, of follow-up, depending on how I want to show...

I am super excited to finally share this one.  I spent so much time drawing that damn car and all the rubble its buried in, and I'm really, really happy with how it all turned out!

Ever since the beginning I've really wanted to show the setting of this comic, show off the extent of the devastation and destruction these characters live amidst.  To show off little things that imply, in subtle ways, the civilization that existed before.

It's that giant semi-blue structure in the middle of the city.  Again, there's a lot to the setting of this comic that I'm struggling to depict in the art alone... but that's why I'm practicing drawing backgrounds more lately...

Emotional Support Max

Alright so I lied... the minicomic I promised you isn't ready yet.  I want to give it a bit more of a treatment than I usually give them, because it's kind of important to the backstory of the characters involved and I want it to look really good.

Instead, here's a sketch that didn't quite make it into Chapter 3.  Kiva's having a rough time, and Max is trying to be supportive of his friend, but he doesn't know quite what to say or what to do aside from just being there for him...

It's good to try and get out of my comfort zone a little bit and draw something different. I was hoping to post a couple of things today actually, but alas, the holidays.  We traveled a lot, spent time with friends and family.  It was a pretty good time.  Except that it didn't advance my agenda of perpetually hiding in my office and doing all the drawing I need to do.  :P

Post Schedule

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately.  At the end of the day, I just want to make comics.  And I want people to enjoy the comics I make.

I've been fulfilling that first criteria but not the second one.  The last page I posted publicly was all the way back in April.  Ever since then I've been making comics, but I haven't really had a good sense of when to start sharing them again.

Now, the fact remains that I am not a fast artist, especially not when drawing...
