Shooting trip to Leipzig

Yesterday I was in Leipzig to shoot with Skarlya at ISO60 Studio. It was my first time shooting there and I was a bit skeptical about the light in dark November. Luckily there are 4 big windows in the studio and - what is even more important - the heater did its job! So there were perfect conditions for a shooting. 

The studio resides in an old school building. I love the atmosphere in this studio and booking, organization and shooting went perfectly.

Shooting with Irina always means you end up with a bunch of pictures, too many for just one normal editorial. So here's the first chapter of a shooting I did in a nice private loft in Duesseldorf, Germany back in autumn 2022.

Winter season

Days are getting short and the indoor season starts again - There are still some ideas for shooting trips on my list for autumn/winter 2023. In November I'll go to Leipzig for a shooting. Shooting at Bau113 - Speyer, Germany

This shooting location was on my screen for quite some time. Last Friday, I had the opportunity to shoot there with @witchy_pixie. 

The location is part of an old industry area with a lot of small companies. As you can see on the first picture, it's an old building, difficult to heat in case of bad weather but with a lot of these old industrial type windows.

Beginning of this week I travelled to Duesseldorf for a shooting with Emilie Payet (@emilie_payet_artist) . This model has been on my wish list since long time and I was really happy to have the opportunity shooting with her. 

The shooting location was Soho studio, part of Loftstudio 14c in Neuss (close to Duesseldorf).

Back in July I went to Etretat, Normandie for a shooting trip with Irina Lozovaya (@airineel_2). As she has her home base close to Cologne we met in Paris to go by car to Etretat, a 2.5 hours trip.

I wanted to take the opportunity for a shooting in Paris and booked the shooting location shown on the pictures above.

In general it's difficult to find a good location for available light shootings. Sometimes it turns out that the location is way smaller or much less light than expecte...

Upcoming trip to Sicily - preparations (2)

I also bought this poker set - not sure that I will need it but if there is an opportunity to have more than just one model in front of the camera, it will help to create a situation, where you don't need to guide the models what to do and how to pose. Playing cards makes it easier, as the models will understand what they are supposed to do during the shooting, you will get some movement and hopefully a nice shooting atmosphere. Upcoming trip to Sicily - preparations (1)

Next Monday I will leave for a shooting trip to Sicily. It's a shooting event, which means there will be other photographers shooting with the same model at the same location. Therefore, it's important to think a bit about how to make one's own pictures more unique.

Of course, the own photographic style, the way of retouching, etc. will cause pictures being different. But the wardrobe of the model is necessarily limited and sometimes it would be good to add some pieces to the outfit to ...

Kate

I like models, who start acting by themselves, without much guidance by the photographer. Especially, if it results in some weird poses or activity - maybe this is the reason why I enjoyed the shooting with Kate Ri so much. We tried to meet again for quite a while but our both schedules didn't match ... but finally we made it and had a wonderful shooting in Frankfurt.

Upcoming trip to Sicily

Next week (4-8 September) I will join Sacha Leyendecker on his shooting event in Sicily. It will be 9 shootings, 2 hours each, with 4 wonderful models. The shooting scheme is 1-on-1, which means there is always just one photographer working with one model at the same time. I already know 3 of the 4 models from earlier shootings and therefore I'm able to prepare a bit - thinking about shooting idea, outfits, hair & make up, etc. 

I have been at the same location in 2018 and 2019...
