I'll be doing a study from reference on Thursday the 16th at 2pm CET (use this converter to find out what time that is in your area). I'll be streaming the process into the community art room! It would be awesome if you ...

I am enjoying this workflow of cleaning up my messy sketches in photoshop so much that I did it again! (Check out my previous sketch using the same workflow here.) This one changed a lot during the process, I think almost nothing is left from the original sketch except the idea :’) I’m really happy with it though! Can’t wait to add some color ~

Here it is: this month’s tutorial! It’s actually more of a lecture, since it doesn’t demonstrate any drawing techniques. It’s about artistic growth and it lays out a roadmap for artistic improvement. Thanks to Brandi for suggesting this one in the discord server!
This tutorial breaks down artistic improvement into 5 main stages. For each stage, I talk about which exercises you can do to improve in that area. At the end (40:11 minutes in), I talk about how you can troubleshoot yo...

It's a new month, and so it's time for a new challenge ✨ This month we will be making skintone studies together! Use the reference images provided to make studies that focus on the skin tones. Try to go beyond flat color or expected color schemes, and find the interesting variations within the skin tones that you see in the reference!

The year progress is already at 8%! Can you believe it? Here's how this month went for me:
SLOW START TO THE YEAR
I was super pumped to start the new year and start working on my goals right away, but I ended up coming down with the flu and I spent the first week of the year on the couch with a box of tissues! It took me a little while to recover and catch up with ...

I also made a resource video (kind of like a mini-tutorial) about my process for creating the master study which will be posted up in a few minutes! As always, let me know if you have any questions after watching this ~

It’s the end of the month, which means time for me to participate in the monthly challenge for flame members! This month we made a master study together. I chose to do a master study of Carmen, the Duchess of Montmorency by Franz Xaver Winterhalter! The idea was to not just copy the original artwork, but also try to pick an area of focus beforehand to create our own interpretation. I wanted to capture the warm glow and creamy color treatment of the original! It was actually a lot h...

Last month I mentioned that I wanted to do at least one loose sketch session every month where I explore some ideas and try to channel my imagination a bit more. This is what came out of that session for this month! I am actually finalizing two of these sketches into more detailed paintings right now (the girl in the chair and the space suit one). Hope you like these!

Hey lovely patrons! I wanted to make a little announcement to let you know that I'll be attending Playgrounds festival this year. If all goes according to plan, I'll be at both Eindhoven and Berlin. I'm currently in the early stages of putting my artist talk together, so I didn't want to announce it on my socials yet, but I wanted to give you all an early heads up in case you were thinking of going! I’m obsessed with my cats so I had to make some fan art. When I’m with them, I'm constantly hovering around them and marvelling at their cuteness. When I’m not with them, I look at pictures of them or draw them. My life is just cats now :')

Hey lovely patrons! I thought it would be fun to launch a DTIYS challenge just for my patrons to kickstart the year! Some of you might recognize this girl ~ I originally drew her in 2010 for this painting:

But I always preferred one of the earlier WIP versions, which felt more chunky and playful than the final:

Here it is: this month’s tutorial! It’s on environment essentials. I already have two environment tutorials, but this one is specifically designed for those of you who don’t know where to start and find environments intimidating. It breaks the process down into the most basic steps, and talks about which aspects you should primarily focus on so you don’t get lost in all of the details!
Here’s the reference image I used in case you’d like to try the same process:
