A while back I said I was thinking of making a tutorial on robots, but wasn't quite sure how to proceed, so I just started doodling up a bunch of little mechanical details and greebles while jotting down notes on another page to try and work out exactly how I go about designing robots. I mainly want to focus on how to think about robots rather than simply how to draw them.

Another drawing of the Shrine Gate Demon from before in a more battle-like pose. Don't know what I'll do with this thing, but I have ideas.
I have to say, I don't care for the sketchbook I drew this in, and will probably stop using it. I don't know exactly what sort of paper it uses, but it's got a thick, rough texture that I don't care for, pencil lines smudge too easily on it, and scanning always results in the picture looking blotchy.

After reading up on Japanese Yokai, I came up with a demon of my own design based on the Gashadokuro, a giant man-eating skeleton, and Torii, the traditional gateways that mark the pathway to sacred places. Perhaps it posses a gate that has been neglected for too long, or mimics them to lead people astray?
Either way, I prefer the one without eyes.
