Sketch- Redesigning Orcs

One thing I've always admired is re-imaginings of long-established fantasy races and creatures, especially ones whose image has been "set in stone" by pop culture, like dragons or dwarves. So I tried to dabble in it myself using orcs.

In case you can't read my handwriting, here's a transcript of the notes I took while brainstorming:

Sketch- Tempest Bound

A scrapped idea I had for Inkvember #25, still featuring Tempest Shadow but without armor and bound with magic bolts (though it seems that's not going to be enough to keep her still). It looked nice, but I had already drawn quite a few "pinup-y" pictures for Inkvember by then and had wanted to keep a balance of content, so I went with the current picture.

Might finish this in the future- who knows?

New Year, New Rewards!

Well, I said I was going to open commissions in January, and now I have! And with an added bonus for all my Patrons: all Patreon rewards have increased discounts on commissions! The new tiers are as follows:

$1 = 10%

$10 = 15% 

$20 = 20% 

$30 = 35% 

$50 = 50% 

And of course, all patrons have unlimited commission slots, as well as priority over non-patron commis...

The Serving Six: Royal Sisters Cafe

Nightmare Wendy

So last night, after being woken up by my cat knocking over my trash can, I drifted in and out of sleep for about two hours. At some point I had a nightmare where the Wendy's restaurant had a brand-new mascot: a horrible humanoid thing with noodly limbs tipped with hard, hollow plastic hands and feet. Its head was also hollow and plastic, shaped like the Wendy's mascot but with solid black eyes.

And it was in my room.

Got a brand-new Moleskine journal!

Never had one before, but I've heard they're a quality travel notebook/sketchbook. I was skeptical at first because it came wrapped in plastic, so I couldn't get a feel of the paper until I actually bought it. But I really like it so far! It fits my jacket pocket well and is sturdily built.

Patreon, Pledges, and Prices

As you may have already seen via the Patreon newsletter or the many, many people posting about it on Patreon and other sites, Patreon is now charging an additional fee for patrons with each pledge on top of taking a percentage of your pledge (2.9%+$0.35), meaning you pay a little more than what you've actually pledged, with $1 patrons paying $1.37 instead.

Taking a Break from Commissions

With the holidays coming up, I decided to take a break from taking commissions this December to focus on some of my own art that I've been neglecting, especially the Serving Six series. So yeah, until sometime in January, I won't be taking any new commissions.

Don't worry if you're still waiting for a commission- I will finish those as soon as I can.
