Alright, time for a long overdue post catching up on a number of secondary things. This one is going to end up more negative than positive, so skip the bottom section if you don't want that.
Cognosticon Retrospective
I'm not sure how to feel about this year's new work as Cognosticon. Or rather, I know exactly how I feel and I'm trying to decide how much weight to place on those feel...

Unusual time for a weekly update, but it's been an unusual week. Going to quick let people know what has been going on, plus bring up a couple issues in case people have anything to say. My week has been scattered among various things...
TLS 0.75.5: New public build. Don't like to do this, but I also don't like to leave the main build with any issues that inconvenience players.

I try not to put out multiple public builds, but there are a handful of bugs in the current one that I don't want to be left out for everyone to play. New builds here:
https://the-last-sovereign.blogspot.com/2024/09/tls-0755-public-update.html
If you haven't noticed anything, don't worry about it. A couple quests are unbugged, a few LUK issues have been better...

After some odd sets, we finally have a normal balanced set again!
First we have Simon and the rescued Erosians, which is a nice opportunity to see some new character designs. Then we have a yuri scene between Orilise and Altina, where I quite enjoy the variants Annikath managed. Finally we have Robin's transformed affection scene, which is simple and cuddly. ^-^
These will be included in the next TLS build, whenever that is. Meanwhile, Annikath is splitting her time between the n...

I've had a fairly good run of making the first public release the final release until the next major update... but this might be an exception. There are sadly some bugs in the current public version; nothing major, but they do cause problems in certain cases. Combining that with potential updates to the dialogue script and images themselves, and I think I may need to do another build.
This is all somewhat inconvenient. Does it substantially delay the next update with the optional dungeo...

Alright, while people have been positive about the new elements of this release, it's been quiet overall. Probably going public on Friday, barring some new disaster. I reserve the right to change balance in the future, but this is what we're going with for now unless I get more feedback.
When things are quiet, I'm always still working. In this case, I'm making great progress on optional dungeon and final harem member stuff. We are on track for a shorter than average turnaround betw...

I'm opening up this build to $1 backers! I think it has been pretty reasonably polished by this point, but maybe a broader base of players will give broader feedback so everything can be properly balanced. Thank you all for your support. ^-^

I didn't send a notification, but I have uploaded 0.75.2 in the previous post. So far the update has all been about cleanup, random junk, and softlocks. I have tried to tackle everything as best I can, and verified a lot of it myself, so hopefully this build has removed the main issues. Thank you to everyone testing the game throughout.
That said, I hope that we can eventually shift to qualitative issues and...

UPDATE II: Version .2 hopes to have fixed all softlocks throughout Stineford and Withered Mountain maps. It's the only link below.
UPDATE: The new .1 version attempts to cover all reported issues so far. Please use that if you haven't. No RTP version because I am already up much later than intended.
Here we go, this update both is and is not a big deal. On one hand, due to the new dialogue system and all the new combat elements, it's the largest change to the ...

I wanted to put out a TLS update on Friday, and maybe I could have pushed to do it, but it would have been exhausting and I decided to take you guys up on not pushing quite as hard.
Stineford was already done, but have some more screenshots in lieu of more abstract work. No more map remaking for a long while at least. -_-
Should be this coming Friday, though. It won't have the major new content like the optional dungeon, but I still think this is a non-trivial release because it i...

Thanks for the huge response to the last post - glad to know people care about the game. ^-^ No action will be taken on the combat system immediately, not least because I'm spread very thin, but you will eventually hear more about the battle busts as TLS moves toward completion.
Meanwhile, today's post is dedicated to another one of my old objectives that I have finally completed: improving the first impression of the game. Generally speaking, graphics are more important than writing or...

Big TLS news to talk about today, but first some quick business. Posting this update a day early both to gather info and to hopefully kickstart my work. This week I posted another art preview, in this case Shard Sipping. This was the biggest and most complex scene we've done, in terms of art!
Now, it's time to talk about the combat system in TLS. The next update will have a bunch of additions...

We have a new set! It is... just one scene, because we went crazy with this one. >.>
There's an eternal conundrum of how much editing to do to have the illustrations match the written text, because I often have the characters move around a lot. I am generally inclined to aim for a satisfying parallel but not to go too far, because it takes forever and general players will just complain that the game isn't animated regardless. T-T But occasionally we decide to go for it with a big ...

Having one of those weeks where I'm being really productive and don't want to take time off to write a post. Apologies if I've been slow getting back to people on messages.
The big flashy features I think everyone will like are still WIP, so it's not time to talk about those yet. Work on Stineford continues, blah. Everything else is just proceeding.
At some point I will have to talk about overall schedule related to last week, but I'm feeling much better, mainly because I'm surrou...

I am tired and grouchy at the moment, but let's see if I can't turn things around. Instead, let me talk about all the things that have been finished over the past while.
Before today's roadmap update, we have another lovely piece of fanart. ^-^ Argo actually approached me with this idea months ago, but I asked him to hold off until I posted the final battle. It would have been in bad taste to make a ME3 joke if people didn't like the final battle of TLS, after all. Fortunately, players have been overall positive, so hopefully this gets a chuckle. I'm passionate about this sort of game, so I certainly tried to bring everything to the sort of conclusion I find ...

That overview of the coming updates is still on its way, but there's no time for that, there's progress to discuss! This week's post will cover various updates, ranging from standard to exciting to a request for assistance from any resident coders.
The next update will be the last optional dungeon, which will also be the last real combat in the game (the epilogue is more story than challenge). I figured this is also a good time to reconsider various details about combat, rather than bef...

So, the final battle is out publicly, and while there are a couple things I've changed on my end, for the most part it's going fine. I probably won't make another build unless I run into more issues that would actually interfere with players getting to experience the whole update.
I have a partially written post getting into much greater detail about the remaining updates, because there are all sorts of additions and changes planned aside from the obvious content. But various obnoxious ...

UPDATE
Alright, one last mid-week update. I would love very much if this was flawless and I can make this the public version, but I would love even more if any remaining bugs were reported before the big release. Not sure if there are still people with time and interest to play again, but here you go, if you want.

Another step forward in the final battle, but it gets harder to come up with introductory things to say with each iteration. >_>
TLS 0.74.3
- Various serious but obscure bugs caught not by players, but by Fulminato, Grim8P, and other data miners.
- Two more save points added.
- Numerous musical enhancements thanks to Lamsey.
- No major behind-the-scenes rebalancing yet, just fixes and improvements.
- Additions and polish.

Phew, okay, TLS 0.74.2 is out. There's still a lot more work to do, but things seem stable and are moving in the right direction.
I don't want to overstress the finality of the final battle and minimize the importance of the remaining updates (perhaps I'll write about that sometime), but I am feeling a sense of relief. The final battle ties up a lot of loose ends and concludes many parts of the story, both of characters and of variables. If I get hit with a bus tomorrow, T...

So the final battle update is out. Had to do one hotfix for some players, but otherwise it seems pretty stable. I'm overall happy, but also very tired.
But no rest for Sierra: I need to do at least some promotion. I have made a Reddit post, so please take a look if you want some final battle facts:

UPDATE
New bugfix build out to deal with a specific error blocking some players, plus assorted other content.
TLS 0.74.1
- Primarily a hotfix to remove a fatal bug when your final variables are too uneven.
- Minor bugfixing and polishing, but this is not the fully revised build.
- Additional tweaks to Rachnera's control scripts.
- The base library is now complete. One shelf will fill retroactively, one will fill if you talk to Grynyth in the base, an...
