Here's a tiny drawing that I had started in between the other work that coming soon~

Assault Idol

Now I think that I had never mentioned Idols' weapons, and well... they use sound as a weapon. To be more clear, they are the ultrasonic weapons themselves. Hollow parts and strings make for a good vessel for the vibrations to be formed within.

Also, their leg structure prevents them from accidental movements, so the sound beams (long range) are focused, and, if needed, sound blasts (short range) are withstand.

The other thing that I wanted to mention is that they don't feel almos...

Idol: painted

And done! Now I know that this paper doesn't tolerates water that much, so no waterbrushes, yet regular brushes and a small amounts of water are fine. I've covered this one pretty thick with gouache, and to be true, I do like the result, it definitely has a potential. Of course it's still warping slightly, yet I'm fine with it. And scans are coming soon too~

I think I'll first scan it (so I'll be able to color it digitally if traditional part fails xD), and then try watercolors and gouache on top.

Well, watercolor undersketch and pen line are quite nice on this paper too. Now I'm definitely set up on buying a bigger size in the future (this one is 12x12 cm)~

I was thinking that their true name will be first revealed to Rah, and much-much later, after everything is finished, to everyone else. Still the details are a bit vague, yet we definitely have a direction now~

Hey guys, still hadn't finished the resonators (had to drain one of my aquariums, rip poor thing), yet I had started a new sketchbook! I know that lately I've started quite a lot of them, bu-u-ut I wanted to find a really nice one to stick with, so here we have it. This one is from Sakura, I believe it's a series of art supplies from Royal Talens (correct me if I'm wrong), and quite honestly it feels like golden middle between quality and price. Actually, Fabriano's paper works fine with pens, so the purchase wasn't that unfortunate as I thought after testing watercolors and gouache. Still I decided not to experiment and for colors went in digital, so coming soon~

Vega, lore and Resonators

So, I was intentionally delaying lore behind Vega, because I wanted to put it more or less into the one post.

First and foremost, her importance is tremendous, because she is the Key to ending the war between Grirdasses and races of the Arnainskiy Cross. Yes, the lore been adjusted a little bit, so the Idols not by themselves been put into slumber, but by her order. Vega's hand

A few more sketches, but in a new sketchbook. Somewhat disappointed in Fabriano's torchon paper, it keeps on absorbing gouache thus I could not make a bright highlights at all. Sometimes I feel like cheap thin paper works much better rather than any thick and expencive one, even if it bleeds through I still have a bunch of nice pieces made on 60 g/m2 and I had no problems with adding gouache on top of them.

I quite like her joints, they have a wide range of movement, yet I still have to get used to them, so more doodles are coming soon~

Hmm, it actually looks not bad from afar... but yes, I'm done with it. 

That was quite something, the colors were drastically changed like five or so times, and ended up pretty far from what I had initially planned for it, yet still I hope that you like the result! <3

Finally I've been able to upload the photo, had some issues with the app for the whole evening.

Back to: This one is a test sketch mostly, maybe I'll finish it, maybe not, might be colored in a half-stage somewhere. Also, the previous illustration will be ready within one or two days! Finally, I hope. Had a lot of brainstorming going on in figuring out how I want to paint it, still not sure, but it definitely having some progress.

VEGA: final destination

Vega, the brightest star that humans who had found her knew of. Something that would remind them of a home and clear skies no more. 

Among the foreign stars drifted her dome, a vault of metal, and stone. A thing that would be harvested and left for good, if not a signal would be picked through. A machine? A living being? VEGA: rework v.1.1

Finally I can share some stuff with you guys! It's been a long and painful week after visiting the dentist, yet I can finally fully function, and speaking of functioning, meet the new Vega!

I wasn't too keen on having her as a human character, and after I dig deeper into Rah's travels I got an idea of she being some sort of an AI from a distant world/place, an artifact maybe? It's still a work in progress, and you can actually see the changes that she went through from being a human and...

It was an unusual task altering mechanical character into something that you might expect to see from me, and I'm absolutely in love with the result~

Stuff behind the scenes

Wanted to share these pieces with you~

On the photo is an actual thumbnail, and the digital sketch was my first attempt to make all the line and colors in photoshop, yet after I started it if felt somewhat wrong, and I put aside the whole illustration for a week, until I started it on the paper. For some reason I find traditional sketching more satisfying and rewarding in some way. Maybe it's just my excuse for not practicing more often with digital lines... who knows.

Also, gouache is my true savior, I absolutely love the result; still I kept it pretty sketchy, yet now I can better feel the paints and I'm quite excited about it, and hope you as well! <3
