Veylus: sketches (v.12)

I think now I have my new favorite page~

So, I been thinking that matrix cities are pretty much scattered all across the Assa system, and as I remember, Veylus is a food hub, i.e it provides farm lands, clean (almost, except salts) water and a ton of edible stuff for the system and beyond.

Also, those pillars/peaks/mushrooms are actually a living organisms, they form a crust out of atmospheric salts (planet's average humidity is 75%-100%) which protects them from parasites a...

Veylus: sketches (v.11)

Well, not everything turns out great, yet still it's a great experience~

Also, I have more awesome news to share! Studio lights and tripod are on its way! Most likely they will arrive on this Friday, and my new table will arrive by Monday or Tuesday, so by that time I'll try to figure out how to make a script and actually record a footage and put all that together, because there are only two sketch pages left in this sketchbook and it will be finally finished after four years of dipping...

Veylus: done!

Added steps as well~

Veylus: wip

I just like how it looks~

And I want to preserve one part of a previous page, so the watercolors won't bleed to the other side and spoil it (totally not cheating!)

Veylus: sketches (v.10)

Hey guys, I have good news, only three sketch pages left!

And also, here is Veylus, a 6th planet of the Assa system~

Tladas: sketches (v.9)

Been experimenting with different scenes.

The last one is a first concept of Grirdasses' spaceships (ones who began Age of the Down)

View Post

Tladas: sketches (v.8)

Been experimenting with colors for sunsets/sunrises.

Also, I love how the first frame turned out. The Matrix City looks like it belongs there~

Tladas: sketches (v.7)

Learning from my mistakes color-wise~

Also, surprise-surprise, there are day and night! And everything in-between, that I still haven't laid my hands on.

Some notes: It's so exciting to see how a barren world (in terms of previous execution) comes to life. All those shadows, reflections, are simple fundamentals at its core. Cones, spheres, cubes. It's really important to invest your time in them, and now I see why - the difference is huge, what else could be bette...

Tladas: sketches (v.6)

Inserting a cold beauty~

Just to remind you: Tladas is a 5th planet of the Assa system, where Sitan is the 4th planet.

Despite its icy look, Tladas is a pretty welcoming world. It has only a few apex predators and the other ones are "herbivores", - animals that feed themselves mostly on those crystal-like formations and lesser plants, but not the red flowers, they are toxic to the native species.

There are sources of liquid water scattered all across the surface and undergro...

Sitan: sketches (v.15)

Here are more sketches of Sitan. For the first and the last one I used photo references, - they are really great in terms of expanding visual library and solidifying understanding of perspective.

And... we have a bunch of other planets to work on. I might add a few characters too, yet I would like to keep it landscapes-only till the end, four pages left.

Test time!

Hey guys, I've finally decided to get started with making a video content!

I'm quite glad that win 10 has a default video redactor and a voice recorder, so I've been able to mix both video and audio footage together~

Right now I'm still not sure if I want to make voice-overs or go live with it, but I think we'll see when the sketchbook will be finished, till then, what are your thoughts about that whole thing?

Sitan: sketches

So... Lately I've been investing some of my free time into improving my understanding of perspective, color and, of course, landscapes as an actual thing. I wish I've done it much earlier, because it feels really nice to be able to make not just a characters to pop up, but the world where they all live visible to all of you as well.

Also, I've made a small comparison with year and a half time difference~

Matrix City: inside of a rings: part 3

Here are some ideas on how to expand the three basic living floors and turn the whole thing into a real metropolis, with flying vehicles all around and such other stuff (well, the last part is yet a WIP)

Still not sure where it's all going, looks like I'm just a bit overly obsessed by this part of a city right now.

Matrix City: inside of a rings: part 2

Ugh, why do they keep on changing Patreon's UI, now it looks so unbalanced on creator's page (everything is shifted to the right, at least on the PC version) and so much uncomfortable to look at. UPD: never mind, it's fine now

Nevertheless here is yet another page with sivalaary and bits of a matrix city's insides.

This sketchbook is pretty small (6x4 in), so they look really rough, yet still I find them pretty appealing in some way. And what do you think...

Matrix city: SketchUp testing

I heard about SketchUp quite a while ago, yet only now decided to test it out.

Can't say that I like or dislike it, but now I'm curious about installing Blender on my main pc too (I remember those days spent with the Unity engine on my laptop and all those islands, weird maps and flying arms, honestly, it was fun to do)

Also, I've found a few old screenshots, unfortunately I didn't found ones with the sunny island, but oh welp, here they are:

Sha: exploration of the ruins

Hey-hey guys, we have our first Patreon sketch painting reward!

It's been an exciting experience to take myself out of a comfort zone and explore both illustration and storytelling, and I definitely like how it turned out~

Sha, the character, belongs to ShinoYiruma

Also, there been made changes to our goals, so check them up! I bet you'd like...

Matrix City: inside of a rings

Here is a first take on a living quarters~

Looks pretty rough, yet I like how the water channel mirrors the glass ceiling above it.

And slowly, but surely, we're creeping to architecture. Well, better later, than never, I guess.

Sivalaary: doodles

Seven pages after mindless doodling I got a hold of what I really would like to draw more~

Looks like even subconsciously I'm attached to the project, for other random stuff is less satisfying for me than these rough sketches (and I'm quite happy about it, don't get me wrong)

Back to: the middle one is actually a matrix city, and those light rings are supposed to be made of something close to a glass, and underneath are living quarters, schools, shops, restaurants...

Sitan: sketches

And finished. I decided not to go hard on this page, because from the other side it has a few nice works that I enjoy and this paper doesn't tolerates water that well.

Also, I've been curious to try out some gouache (I had a few old bottles laying around), and yup, It looks kinda messy, yet still it was fun to play with it.

*nope because colors aren't usual to Sitan

Rah and his friends

I had an idea of Rah having two dog-like friends for quite some time now (actually, started this sketch just after Vega's last illustration and half-finished only today)

So, the main idea is that these two were found and saved by Rah and his suspicious ability to bend Acmirazidium's will to do his bidding (blame GOT and early morning for my speech), thus not only his own spaceship behaves in a weird way, but he can return lost limbs and some organs to a living beings (Vega's arm and so...

Sneak peek 2!

Hell, yes, I want to tease you even more!

Also, finally the whole race got themselves a finished hands, not vague and sketchy ones.

And also I had given myself a two days off (on a permanent basis) to fully fool around. If some of my customers are so kind not to answer on the weekends, why should I work then? (rhetorical, yet I'm also a human that needs rest (unfortunately, not a machine) )

Damn, it feels so good (still my hand hurts because I've spent the whole day on this ...

Photoshop experiment

It's been a week since I've touched something for the project, and honestly, I can't. For the last three months I've took a lot on my shoulders, there were days when I worked one day for one client, second for another and third for the last one and then all over again without weekends, and even now I still have a contract to finish, and even then I've worked on the world as hard as I could, and now it looks that I've yet failed.

I do have ideas, don't think I don't, I just can't bring t...
