Chapter 84- Branching Pathways

It is still the same day where I am, so I'm still on my chapter a day streak. (Technically) Seeing the view count yesterday on RR made me realise that this time was better for posting. Anyway, we'll see going forward what specific hour I should release chapters. Nothings set in stone yet.

Arthur Ward Level 71

Unallocated stat points: 49

Strength- 120(100) [1.2*]

Vitality- 700(500)[1.4* or 2.8*]

Chapter 83- Built like A Tank

I delayed the release of this chapter by a few hours because I've been releasing the others at around 3 am in the morning. My sleep schedule is currently fucked, so I decided to do the smart thing and wait until the morning to post at a more reasonable time. Chapters henceforth will be released around this time. (within 3 hours of it either before or after) Or I might go for twelve hours later, whatever that time is for you. . It just depends on how active RR is at this time compared to then ...

Chapter 82- The Stars align

It had now been exactly twenty-four hours since Arthur's participation in the battle against Shade and he had now fully recovered from the injuries he’d suffered during that fight. With him were the spoils he'd gained, the promised monster core that the government had rewarded him and most importantly, the Dragon core he needed to fix up his soul.

Sadly, he wasn't quite ready to use it yet as Ayesha had told him. She'd been annoyingly vague with the details, saying that he needed to l...

Chapter 81- Tying Loose Ends

Okay everyone. It's been a while since I posted, but I've been working on getting your mass release ready. If things go well, which they should, I'll be releasing every day for the next twelve days at least.

That'll hopefully make up for a lot of what I've missed. In other news, I've completed terraria, or made the Zenith if you want to get technical, which is practically the same thing. I made five different worlds and beat the Plantera sixteen times for the seedler to finally drop. An...

Chapter 80- Purify

Authors Note: I am very sorry for not posting on the weekend as was my plan. I've started working on another piece of writing that's been taking up some of my time. It's not a piece of fiction, so I doubt I'll ever end up sharing it here. and I don't think you'd be interested.

It's something I plan to eventually publish and so I'm putting a lot more planning into it than I initially did for Etherious. That's not to say that I'll slow down with my story, though. I was only delayed this o...

Chapter 79- Waking Up To Reality

The entire room now smelt incredible, almost like the entirety of nature was condensed into a single fragrant ascent that now suffused every breath he took. This is the stuff Buddhists are talking about when they describe nirvana; Arthur wondered in amazement as he inhaled as deeply as he could.

There were three items in the box in front of him, lying on a bed of velvety-looking fabric. Two of them Arthur immediately recognised, the monster core instantly obvious from all the p...

Chapter 78- Trade

When General Bradley saw the young healer’s eyes go wide with surprise at the sight of the liquid, he knew that Arthur had recognised it. He didn’t blame the kid, though. He'd also been shocked when he found out what the liquid could do when it was presented to the Mercantile organisation after their scientists had gone crazy over it.

A 'perfect catalyst' or something of the sort. The technical jargon was far too complex for him to commit to memory. What he did recall was its absurd...

Chapter 77- A Talk Of The Future

I almost forgot to post this but I remembered just before going to sleep. I promised a chapter today, so that's what you're going to get.

~Natasha Samuels~

When Natasha first heard of the great ‘threat’ that put the entirety of planet Earth in jeopardy, she was sceptical, to say the least. In the end, she had decided to come to the meeting since she was still on American soil, and it was probably better if she had an idea of what the old fools were planni...

Chapter 76- A Harrowing Experience

Walking into that room made Bryan question every decision he had ever made in his life. He must have gone wrong somewhere, or he never would have ended up in a situation like this. Being under the collective scrutiny of dozens of individuals that controlled the flow of Earth made Bryan feel like he was an exotic creature that was being examined. He’d take fighting another Shade any day over being here in person. Okay, maybe I won't go that far.

Bryan quickly observed everyone...

Chapter 75- Experimental Mutagen

Announcement: This chapter is the last one that will be written with my current device. I'm finally upgrading. By the time you're reading this, the old Chromebook will likely have been sold (I won't miss it) and my new laptop will be on the way. It's scheduled to arrive sometime next Thursday. The exams I'm currently sitting will also be over by then, so you can see chapters returning to their usual 2-a-week schedule soon (Probably the week following). Maybe you'll even get some bonuses to ca...

Chapter 74- Frog in a Well

The tier-two system upgrade had brought with it a host of extra features that Arthur was pleased with. Considering its primary purpose was removing the bindings that prevented him from using unstructured magic, anything else was just the cherry on top.

Already, he'd found out a boatload of new information on titles and now he was about to check out his own presented in a more detailed format.

Tier 1 Titles [These are the weakest of titles, barely scratching the surface of ...

Chapter 73- On the Nature of Titles

Sorry for the infrequent posting guys. I know I said I'd be moving to a Thurs/Sat schedule, but the device I'm typing on is going through a lot of issues. I use a very old Chromebook to type and I can barely run google dox on it. Grammerly kept on crashing and I had to restart the device multiple times to get it to work. That being said, I'm currently on the journey to save up for a new laptop, but until then, chapter releases will slow down to probably once a week and may be shorter than usu...

Chapter 72- Tier Two System Access

Host Arthur Ward has broken one of the primary tenants of system law. Prepare to face the consequences.

The first thing Arthur noticed was how different the system notification looked from the standard blue message he had gotten used to. It was still blue but the message seemed stronger? Arthur wasn't sure if that was the best way to describe it. It seemed more real like it now existed on a closer plane of reality instead of the former ephemerality it held.

Chapter 71- Post Fight

~Bryan~

Bryan felt his heart clench in anguish when he saw his subordinate die before his very eyes, her life cut short by the abomination known as Shade. He felt rage grip him and he prepared himself to use his last dregs of ether to strike at the crazed ghoul one last time before his inevitable death.

As he prepared himself to cast his final spell though, he felt something change in the air around him. His ears popped as he felt the air around him suddenly become denser. Bryan g...

Selena Williams was dead and it was all Arthur's fault.

There was no doubt about it. Perhaps at higher levels, such injuries weren't as fatal, but a freshly classed individual would not survive having their heart d...

Chapter 69- Eleven Steps

The past few minutes had been the most intense moments of Arthur's life. After the fourth time, Arthur had stopped counting how many limbs he’d had to regrow, the injuries his team had suffered at the hands of Shade quickly exhausting the healing affinity ether he had managed to store inside them. After all, eight hundred points of health would only take you so far when you suffered a debilitating wound every other minute.

Still, each injury had been returned in kind, well- at lea...

Chapter 68- Outclassed

I'm sorry for not posting last week. A few days after finally planning a schedule, I couldn't stick with it for a few days. Sadly, I suffered from food poisoning. Maybe it's shit luck, a terrible immune system, or maybe one of you gave my cheeseburger an evil eye, because a mere day after eating it I was bedridden and sick. The burger that delayed your chapter for half an hour stopped you from receiving many. It was insidious. I'm not better yet, but I can hopefully get to writing again.

Chapter 67- Shade

Sorry. The chapter should have been released half an hour ago but I ordered a cheeseburger.

Arthur hadn’t been able to get a single wink of sleep all night, his mind continuously drifting back to the offer Ayesha had given him and the answer he’d replied with. He wasn’t sure if he had made the right choice and indecision gripped him as he mentally evaluated how his decision would affect him, for perhaps the hundredth time.

He came to the conclusion, once again, th...

Chapter 66- Miss Murker II

Announcement- First of all, I'd like to apologise for the slow release of chapters as well as for not informing you all of my planned schedule. This will now be changing and I will release chapters every week on Thursdays and Saturdays. Anything else will be extra but you'll be getting a minimum of 2 chapters a week.

I have also started a kofi page where all the benefits of my Patreon are also available at a slightly discounted price. This is because of Patreon fees taking such a large ...

Chapter 65- Miss Murker

Arthur looked out of the window as the scenery whizzed by. He was sitting in an armoured vehicle with Bryan on the seat beside him. They were currently on their way to meet the Murker siblings, the special duo Bryan had told him he worked for just a few hours ago.

Arthur also suspected that this was where Alyssia's predictions would come to fruition. The existence of the superior core she'd detected with her aura, all the coincidences that surrounded his employment as a special healer, ...

It was time to get this show on the road.

With the fact that he had already regenerated so much of his reserves after the healing operation, he was practically full, though he couldn't really disclose that piece of information to anyone.

He wasn't quite ready to explain his absurd ether supplies to the government yet, especially after the most recent stunt they had pulled with Artemo, irrespective of the fact that it apparently wasn't a pre...

~Alyssia Sil’Vorken~

Alyssia looked at the humans arrayed before her and saw the telltale signs of terror in the trembling of their feet. She could smell their fear, a sweet, cloying scent that lingered in her nose far longer than it should have. Everyone was frozen in place as if the moment was somehow suspended in motion, only Arthur unaffected by the power of her domineering aura, the fraction of it she was bringing to bear, though she could see that even he was slightly distressed...

Arthur’s prodigious ether reserves were completely full and he’d managed to grow his (uncommon) Regeneration skill to level 3, which was certainly the highest anyone on Earth had managed to level any skill. People simply didn't possess the necessary ether reserves to power level a skill beyond the initial ten levels of system assistance and evolve them and the few that did ...

Professor Jhonson watched the young healer in front of him with keen eyes as he finally left the room. Arthur looked over the latest skill he had gained as well as his first-ever achievement. From what he'd learned in the Serako assembly, they were rewards that the system handed out as an impetus for people to do certain things. They could be gained for a variety of reasons, from killing a particularly aggravating being to making inroads in ether usage. It looked like he'd managed to gain his first one.

He'd been a little hesitant to learn the translation skill from Alyssia. It would tak...

Arthur was out of his depth. What was supposed to be a quick meeting in which his abilities would be assessed had somehow become a shady deal of sorts. And what was this about him dying?

Arthur stood dumbfounded, as he looked down at the beautiful Alverin woman kneeling before him. As a level 153 individual from a dimension exempt from the shackles of the system, Arthur knew that this woman had reached this level of power using unstructured magic.

It meant that she was far, far deadlier than any ordinary level 150 individual would have any right to be, in turn meaning that she could probably kick his ass very easily. It was for those very reasons that Arthur simply coul...

~Alyssia Sil’Vorken~

Looking down at her pale green skin, Alyssia sighed wearily. Considered a sign of noble birth in her homeland, it had led to her ostracisation in this strange new world she’d found herself in. Everything seemed so wrong about her current residence. From the weird metallic substance that the walls were all made out of, to the harsh white light illuminating everything that irritated her eyes so much.

It just all seemed so fake, a perversion of the natural wo...
