The foil covering was something that evolved the more pages I drew. At first, I figured it's all reflective and there's a light source bouncing around so I went light on the inks. Later on, I felt it just looked better with some more blacks in there. Luckily it's not hard to touch pages up digitally. But anywho, it's purpose here is not to hide heat but to disguise the pattern of it.

I used a different setting for saving the sped up video so hopefully it will be better quality but Youtube is needing more time to process. So if you're checking on this in the morning it might need more time or still be potato quality. Maybe some day I will develop the foresight to upload videos the night before.

First double spread in a good while, and I think this is the first I've done traditionally in almost a decade! Wasn't too bad, I had fun with the layout. I separated the pages once I got that central alien inked and I was pleased that it took minimal cleanup to stitch it back together digitally. I had thought to myself, of COURSE I would put the detailed hatching down the center line.

The inking on this took soooooooo long for all the texture detail, but it was weirdly soothing, getting in and hatching all the grodyness. I had to take a different approach and ink & fill area by area instead of doing a full inking pass followed by a filling pass.
I've also kept this page stuck to the wall as reference for future pages and it bothers me endlessly that it will always be crooked - either the panel is because of the angle I drew it at, o...

I keep being at odds with myself because I want to show physical strain, being hindered by the weight of one's own body, but this is an environment with variable gravity. That's still a big belly tho, so, give and take.
Maybe she should have tried a gravity-assisted birth...
