I sat on this WIP post a bit longer because I didn't want to entirely give away that the thing was out, but yeah. I'm marking this as WIP/alt because I was a dummy and did half the backgrounds in blue before remembering they should be in red. Danger color.

Looking back at last month's pages, I wish I had shown all six limbs of the alien while Fayes was glaring at it in the pod... but all six were shown very clearly during the first scene so I don't feel TOO bad. Also on this page I tried noodling around with the brush to get a like, menacing background texture. I'll have to play with it more.

This was a page where I knew how I wanted to start and end it but wasn't as sure on the middle. Solution: start near the end and work in reverse. I also did have more observation log dialogue planned at first but I loved how that stink face in the first panel turned out and decided to let it speak for itself.
Heads up! The next few pages (25-28) will not have process videos because they were drawn when I didn't have a working computer.

I wondered why the recording for inks was so long, then I remembered that first panel took FOREVER. One detail that kinda got hidden away due to size is that the temperature is set to 17ºC - a little on the cool side.

Second page in, I think I got a knack for the hair again, aaaaannnd she's gone, pushed out the door.
Normally when I try for complicated reflections I rely on layer styles but I was determined to ink them in by hand. I think the last panel especially was hard to think through because of the reflection being right on top of our evil starfish pal's arm. I can't remember how much I ended up editing digitally.

Pages 20 and 21 were drawn about a month apart and I feel like I completely forgot how I drew the crazy hair in that time. I even had page 20 sitting on my table for easy reference and I still feel like I couldn't get the same feeling the hair had. I want to say that drawing it smaller added difficulty but I don't know.
Side note, not sure how good reference even does me because I keep that original drawing of Erin & Fayes on my table so I can keep their facial structures cons...

Holy heck you guys, the new computer is so much faster at video editing. I compiled the videos for 20-22 in less time than it took for my old computer to import the recordings of a single page. I guess that's the difference almost a decade of technology makes!
I looooved inking that hair, it was very relaxing to get into the brush work. But it took like a solid half hour to ink and I had a feeling that might not be as easy to keep up on later pages where she appears in multiple...

Panspermia will continue to update on schedule! I managed to wrangle the files so I can post from mobile. No new page today because of the double update last week, but page 21 is already scheduled to be posted on the 21st. However, the process videos will have to wait until the end of the month when I have a new computer.
part of the reason for the double update is so I'd need to worry less about spoilers with WIPs. Now I'm free to post some juicier WIPS and you folks can get a clearer picture about what the new lady's figure is like~

I had another recording hiccup here, this time with the inks. It stopped recording after 20 minutes, no idea why, but I've since switched to doing recordings in smaller intervals.

I'm still on the hunt for something I can use to add whites traditionally. Before I used white ink, here I used acrylic paint. The paint looks fine in the video but both it and the ink dried looking kinda ugly. But they scanned okay so it's not really a problem except to the perfectionist in me.
This is a page I was really looking forward to and loved drawing it but I did not expect it to take 20 pages to reach! Panspermia is definitely going to be longer than I expected.<...
