Okay, you all made me feel things yesterday and today with your incredibly gracious reply to my post regarding forgetting to publish the final week of the Nehemiah podcast here on Patreon. Thank you. Seriously. That means a lot.
Also, here's the final week of the Nehemiah podcast. I hope you enjoyed it (or will enjoy it when you get there).
Thank you again.

I made a mistake in mid-August when I decided to add the week of history-of-what-happened-between-the-testaments to the Nehemiah series. I remembered to record, edit, and publish all of that, but I forgot to click the button on Patreon that makes it so that I get paid for that week of work. Oops!
There's a way to fix it that isn't too complicated, and I wanted to run it by you to see what you think.
The way this is set up, I make 52 weeks of TMBH podcast every year, and each Monday I cl...

Yes, you read that right. It seems like it would be a lot easier historically for there not to be a Christianity, yet there is, and it's huge. Why? How did it catch on? How did it survive early turmoil? How does Galatians fit into all that?
That and more, this week on................the Ten Minute Bible Hour Podcast.
[This post only works if you read it aloud and dramatically]

...it turns controlling and weird?
That might sound like an outlier experience at first, but I bet if you really think about it, that's a situation that happens more often in life than you'd think.
It happened to the people in the Galatian churches, and they had to make some decisions as to what to do about it.
Also, it feels great to be off and running on Galatians. Thanks for being here for this and for making it happen.

I think this is super-well put-together and should be helpful for visualizing the period in time we've been looking at in Ezra/Nehemiah/Esther.
Giant thanks to Dr. Monson for being willing to share it.
Also, giant thanks to you for making this whole series on this era of the Bible happen.

You were right and I was wrong. I needed five more episodes than promised to round this thing out.
You know me so well.
Here's the remaining Nehemiah schedule:
Themes and big picture stuff for the next four days.
Special archaeology episode on Friday where we'll get a sense of what's left of Nehemiah's wall.
Then next week it's all historical epilogue, and connecting Nehemiah right up to Galatians.

There's a lot of tension left in these last two weeks. Nehemiah left for a minute and everything fell apart. Now he's going to try one last time to set it up to work for the long haul.
Galatians is right around the corner.

Nehemiah left for a while and then everything turned bad. Now he's back and he's taking matters into his own hands, literally.
Lots of tension this week.

That's the big remaining question of Nehemiah. Everything since chapter 8 has been great, and there's only one chapter left after this week, so is it okay to be cautiously optimistic that the Old Testament will end with a breaking of the cycle of failure? We're fixing to find out.

We start the last chapter of the book this week. After that, we've got some interesting aftermathing, and then we're on to season five which is Galatians.
Rad!

This week starts with a moment of appreciation for what happened behind the scenes to get to an agreement on the terms of the renewed covenant in Nehemiah 10. Let us pause and consider what it would take to get an entire community to agree on LITERALLY ANYTHING today, and then let us appreciate all the more the great achievement of the people in 444 BC in Jerusalem.
Well done ladies and gentlemen. Well done.

First, I'm very sorry for the short notice. As you may have heard on the podcast, I'm in Connecticut doing a wedding this week, and I have a bit of extra time tonight before I fly out so I thought I would see if anyone in the area wanted to get together with Camilla and I to hang out for a bit and get some ice cream.
If you feel like stopping by to say hi, we are going to be at Salem Valley Farms Ice Cream in Salem, Connecticut at 7:30 pm (tonight, June 28th, 2024). They only take cash, so...

I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do, and I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I know the feedback means a ton to Jeff as well; so comments welcome (even if you want to make fun of us a little :).
Thanks for supporting this weird corner of the Internet.

We spent last week listening to the descendants of Abraham recounting their time in the Lost Woods, but this week we finally are ready to emerge (at least for the moment).
But most of all..........Did you hear that RATT homage today? Are you kidding me Jeffrey?!!

....we're quickly on the down hill to the end of this book. Wow! That went fast. Galatians is on deck, but we've still got big payoffs here including the mass-repentance event of Nehemiah 9.
Did you catch the Nehemiah sticker in the last post?

Not for you and me, I have work this week. I mean for the ancient Jews in September of 444 BC who rediscover the meaning of the Feast of Booths.
The payoffs are coming in faster and faster as we get to the home stretch of Nehemiah and our year-long deep-dive into the Persian era of the Bible.
Finally, I want to apologize for an inadvertent noise that appeared at the end of episode 105 last week. I was shocked and disappointed, and Jeff and I are taking steps toward discussing wh...

This and other questions abound this week as we continue to look at one of the most influential religious meetings in the history of the planet.
After chapter eight, Nehemiah will fly past us and I'm both sad to see the end of the road for our time in biblical Persia, but I'm also very excited to jump ahead five hundred years to the time of the beginning of the church in the New Testament.

It's pretty funny looking too, because this new YouTube channel that has all of the entire podcast on it has a grand total of like 30 views. I put all 1400ish episodes on there so that the program would be available to everyone who uses YouTube music as it is in the process of replacing Google Podcasts. Even if you don't plan on listening to it over there, I'd still welcome a subscription if you'd be willing in order to help get it off the ground. If not, no sweat.
Also, it's assembly ...

Whelp, that didn't go well. We had the nicest time as a family packing up all the envelopes and smiling and laughing and spending meaningful time together (and I'm happy for that), but apparently we were having such a nice time together that we didn't put the Matthew stickers in a bunch of the envelopes we mailed to you. Lol, my bad.
I'm fixing to send out another round to fix that mistake, and if you got one of the duds with no sticker in it, it'd be a great help if you could click th...

There's a thing that happened on September 27th, 444 BC that changed the world and it happens to be the culminating event of the whole Ezra/Nehemiah story arc.
