I made a mistake in mid-August when I decided to add the week of history-of-what-happened-between-the-testaments to the Nehemiah series. I remembered to record, edit, and publish all of that, but I forgot to click the button on Patreon that makes it so that I get paid for that week of work. Oops!

That might sound like an outlier experience at first, but I bet if you really think about it, that's a situation that happens more often in life than you'd think.
It happened to the people in the Galatian churches, and they had to make some decisions as to what to do about it.

I think this is super-well put-together and should be helpful for visualizing the period in time we've been looking at in Ezra/Nehemiah/Esther.

Also, giant thanks to you for making this whole series on this era of the Bible happen.
You were right and I was wrong. I needed five more episodes than promised to round this thing out.

Here's the remaining Nehemiah schedule:
Themes and big picture stuff for the next four days.
Special archaeology episode on Friday where we'll get a sense of what's left of Nehemiah's wall.
Then next week it's all historical epilogue, and connecting Nehemiah right up to Galatians.
There's a lot of tension left in these last two weeks. Nehemiah left for a minute and everything fell apart. Now he's going to try one last time to set it up to work for the long haul.
Galatians is right around the corner.
Nehemiah left for a while and then everything turned bad. Now he's back and he's taking matters into his own hands, literally.
Lots of tension this week.
That's the big remaining question of Nehemiah. Everything since chapter 8 has been great, and there's only one chapter left after this week, so is it okay to be cautiously optimistic that the Old Testament will end with a breaking of the cycle of failure? We're fixing to find out.

We start the last chapter of the book this week. After that, we've got some interesting aftermathing, and then we're on to season five which is Galatians.

This week starts with a moment of appreciation for what happened behind the scenes to get to an agreement on the terms of the renewed covenant in Nehemiah 10. Let us pause and consider what it would take to get an entire community to agree on LITERALLY ANYTHING today, and then let us appreciate all the more the great achievement of the people in 444 BC in Jerusalem.

....we're quickly on the down hill to the end of this book. Wow! That went fast. Galatians is on deck, but we've still got big payoffs here including the mass-repentance event of Nehemiah 9.
Did you catch the Nehemiah sticker in the last post?
Not for you and me, I have work this week. I mean for the ancient Jews in September of 444 BC who rediscover the meaning of the Feast of Booths.
The payoffs are coming in faster and faster as we get to the home stretch of Nehemiah and our year-long deep-dive into the Persian era of the Bible.

This and other questions abound this week as we continue to look at one of the most influential religious meetings in the history of the planet.
After chapter eight, Nehemiah will fly past us and I'm both sad to see the end of the road for our time in biblical Persia, but I'm also very excited to jump ahead five hundred years to the time of the beginning of the church in the New Testament.
It's pretty funny looking too, because this new YouTube channel that has all of the entire podcast on it has a grand total of like 30 views. I put all 1400ish episodes on there so that the program would be available to everyone who uses YouTube music as it is in the process of replacing Google Podcasts. Even if you don't plan on listening to it over there, I'd still welcome a subscription if you'd be willing in order to help get it off the ground. If not, no sweat.

Whelp, that didn't go well.
