110 Axle choice - Which would you choose?
After reading about them a bit more, which would you choose? Not as easy a choice as you might think!

2021-04-21 21:07:04 +0000 UTC View PostSo far we've looked at the drivetrain starting from the flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate, onto the BMW gearbox and now we're starting to look at where the power's going to end, the axles. This power isn't too much, but at least 600Nm to begin with.
Axle choice is always an interesting topic when adding more power to old Land Rovers. Arguably the most common and straightforward choice is upgrading the internals of your Rover axles or changing them to a later...
2021-04-21 20:55:56 +0000 UTC View PostThe next vid will come after this Saturday when we reattach the cylinder head to the 90, fingers crossed for no oil leaks. I've got some good footage so far of what we've been up to having spent about 4 hours lapping the new valves in. Everything has been checked over and besides some pitting where the rocker shaft goes, it's a good head! Hopefully we might get a performance increase with the smoothed-out ports too!
As you know the 110 has an interesting gearbox setup and the part...
2021-04-20 18:58:15 +0000 UTC View PostYou might have seen a while back Rich and I were filming the 90's cylinder head for a vid on YouTube. That hasn't happened yet but you guys get to have a look at what's been going on behind the scenes in what must be the longest time a 200tdi head's been off the engine.
A number of mistakes were made along the way (all by me) including:
- Fitting the valve stem seals before the spring washers (that the springs sit on), meaning all the seals had to be pulled o...

Hi guys hope everyone's doing well! The 90 continues getting overhauled and we're on track for getting the 110's gearbox back very soon!
I promise the next vid will be all about the 110, sorry if you find the 90 boring!
Cheers!

One of the first upgrades people do with 606 swaps is fitting a sump from the later OM648-engined Mercedes cars. This is done to give more clearance to the front axle and is definitely worth doing although prices for the sump and different oil pump needed can be very high and they're quite hard to come by.
The bolt pattern in the OM648 sump is different to the standard OM606 sump and most adaptor plates have different holes to accommodate for this. Because we're using a Mercedes b...

Fresh in from Sweden is the new flywheel we're using from Tenaci Motorsports. We already had a flywheel but it wasn't quite suitable for use with the BMW 'box so I decided to go all out on this fancy unit.
There aren't many readily-available options for flywheels for this application but Tenaci stand out as one of the best and are used by Formula Drift driver Fredric Aasbø.
The replaceable centre disc bolts in and we can use our Sachs SRE765 clutch cover. Overall a cool bit...

This week we've stripped the 90's wiring loom out and 'borrowed' the more intact one from the 110. About 20 hours has gone into the electrics and what a change! After being plagued with electrical issues for years it's nice to see the 90 finally getting the TLC it deserves!

Hi guys, thanks for your patience last month. I'm catching back up now and you can expect one vid a week minimum again. Sorry to the people that left this month, we're getting onto the interesting stuff now.
I've just dropped the gearbox and everything needed off at a friend who's going to weld the bellhousings, absolutely stoked! Everything's happening now after about 3 years. It's now or never for Project Sleeper this year!
2021-03-25 18:11:49 +0000 UTC View PostHi guys hope everyone's well and looking forward to this lockdown lifting!
The aim of this page is to bring you one update vid on the 110 and other Club86 antics per week and last month we did just that. This month is a bit different because all my time's being diverted to non-Landrover activities but rest assured I'll be back to it very soon.
Things are going on in the background and we would've had the gearbox done but I'm looking for an older style of Mercedes gearbox to ...

Hi guys hope you're well and keeping busy! Not a lot's happened since the last video update but the new gearbox tool is being made at the moment and I bought some 8mm steel plate to make the gearbox side of it.
I'm deciding at the moment whether to keep the original BMW clutch setup or change to a concentric slave cylinder. It might mean a more solid and powerful pedal feel but they're not without their downsides.
A new galvanised chassis came up for sale on Facebook M...

Thought I'd put something up to explain what's going on at the moment with the gearbox work that's about to happen. Next vid it'll be in the chassis or very close!
Also excuse the lack of tools and poor camera work!
Hi guys hope you're all well and keeping your heads up in lockdown!
You might have seen on Instagram we bought another engine block to use as a jig to adapt the gearbox we're using.
My plan is to get the gearbox work done ASAP then get hold of some Nissan Patrol (Y61) axles. If we can drop the engine and gearbox into the chassis and make some mounts by Easter that'll be a massive step forward, you guys might finally get to see something interesting! 2021-01-26 20:57:35 +0000 UTC View Post
Whilst we only put out 5 videos in 2018 a massive amount has gone on behind the scenes at Club86, the home of the original Farmkhana (Sod off The Grand Tour!!).
Farmkhana was the biggest project we'd been working on in 2017 and by January 2018 it was cruising to 100k views so we made a follow-up Behind The Scenes vid. All our vids are shot and edited by Rich AKA Cave Bear Films so to have a vid go viral was a mega achievement.
