unfa - Stop Killing Games (Move)
Enjoy a fresh drum&bass single from me. As always made with 100% free and open-source software under Linux.
Comes with an important message about Stop Killing Games, which is a consumer movement to challenge the legality of the practice in which game publishers destroy games they have already sold to their customers.

I made some libre software!
It's unusual, but I've created a free/libre productivity tool for PC users.
HyperTimer was created to help defeat time blindness.
I built it using Godot game engine, as that's an integrated and powerful software development platform I ma very familiar with.
The timer is open-source and you're free to modify it to your heart's content.
I am probably going to be slow implementing new features and fixes. I got it to "work well enough", and then moved on to use it and do other...
I've created an open-source productivity tool with Godot game engine
Long time no posts!
I figured since I've ended my audio-educational project, I should start bringing all the other things I do for the FOSS community!
So here's something I started just before Christmas 2023 and got to a stable release just a few days ago.
If you don't want to watch the video, here's the Codeberg git page for the project.
Latest release is 0.2.3.

Personal update 2023-10-25
In this laid back video I talk a bit about what's going on in the back-end, what I'm working on and what are my plans, hopes etc. This was mostly made for my supporters, but also for everyone who's concerned with how I'm doing :) Also - PeerTube only this time!
Take care!
I've been busy!

Hey!
I'd like to thank everyone who has kept their support through the time of silence.
I've been better for a while long enough that it lets me believe that's not going away so easily.
I have not posted here, and kinda of forgotten about the Patreon blog, but I wanted to update you all on what I've been doing.

Vocal resynthesis with the LPC.lv2 plug-in
LPC.lv2 is a unique open-source speech resynthesis plug-in. It can produce very cool robotic effects pitched to MIDI input, but also mangle audio in interesting and unique ways. Just put a limiter after it because it can misbehave with certain settings!
Get the plug-in here:

December's livestream had us test Surge XT modules in Cardinal!
I've decided to finally update the livestreams "branding" to include John (JTB) in it, as he's become a regular co-host of these streams, which I think is wonderful :)
Th 2nd part of the stream with the music submissions is here:

Enjoy!
Exploring CHOW BYOD [half-broken video]
This one has been in the making for a couple good months.
I've recorded the outdoor footage and then a few months passed before I was able to do the rest.
Unfortunately I have tried to make this video in 1440p resolution since I've gotten such a display not long ago.
The problem I faced was that my framerate seemed inadequate unless I used GPU encoding. In my quick test it seemed fine.
But when I recorded the entire thing I've realized that the last half an hour is som...
October's livestream was a two-parter
Part 1 where me and JTB remix a track by MyLoFy:

Part2 where we play and comment on viewer-submitted music:

Paul Davis live interview 2022-10-02
This was a big undertaking and it took a lot of backstage work, but we've made it and I am very happy with how this babe out :)
Enjoy!
Follow-up to my Virtual Playing Orchestra video
This video was released a day early on PeerTube:
https://peertube.kx.studio/w/9HCkcystQrv2yLBSSA7z9T
I've intended to make this video much sooner, but maybe the delay was a good thing, as it has let me take my time thinking about what I have learned after publishing the first video.
The original video is now unlisted on YouTube, but you can still watch it - the link is in the follow...
Introduction to Libre Audio production!
You can also watch on PeerTube:

This one has been in the making since February.
But it's finally done!
Marc from KHU has invited me to give a presentation to his students, introducing them to the libre audio production concepts and toolset.
This video is a better-looking recording of the event (nothing was cut out), sit it's...
August's stream was full of Fire!
Surge XT 1.1 release has brought some new awesome features, as well as return of my favorite Royal Surge skin (though it has to be downloaded separately).
There's also a new multiband distortion plug-in around called Fire!
In this stream me and JohnTheBard have explored the new sounds and I've haphazardly tried to put together a piece of music by the end of that exploration (didn't work out so well).
The stream went quite a lot overtime - I guess time flies when you're no...
July's livestream was full of errors!
We've decided to see how is Zrythm, since it went from Alpha to Beta some time ago.
It's... usable :D
Studio upgrades!
I've replaced one of my 1080p monitors with a 1440p one - Samsung Oddysee G5.
It's 27" and gives me much more space to work on!
Another small upgrade is better lighting!

June's Livestream was Cardinal
JohnTheBard has joined me as co-host in another monthly livestream, and we've dived into Cardinal, the open-source modular plug-in based on VCV Rack 2.
We've managed to make... a kick drum.
And a bass.
But I think we've covered a lot of very useful tips for Cardinal, learned about a bunch of useful modules and tricks.
Enjoy!
Airwindows DeBess - the best de-esser there is!
I put DeBess on every single vocal track.
Unless it's nothing but "aaahs" and "ooohs" and have no sibilants. But every it of spoken word needs it.
I've heard commercial music releases with painful sibilants, and DeBess would have fixed that!
PS: Can you find all the secrets in this video? :)

unfatarians - Secrets EP has been released, and because of that, I've invited some guests to talk about how that all went down.
I hope you'll enjoy :)
unfa community's EP is finished!
If you've been hanging out in the community chat you'll know that the unfa community has been invited to partake in the Server vs Server IVth edition charity event.
After 5 weeks of hard work, we've submitted the EP titled "Secrets" and we're preparing to do a final public video release on my channel with a video/visualiser.
For now - you can list...
April's livestream was off the hook!
Covering new LSP 1.2.0 release and working on tracks for the Server vs Server charity event that my community has been invited to partake in.
I think we may have gotten some fresh local memes from this...
March's livestream was full of control voltage!
Atypically - we've made some dark ambient music!

It was brought to my attention, that the popular free library of orchestral sampled instruments has some licensing issues. I've taken a good look. And I could't believe what I saw.
This is bad news, but it's necessary so we don't violate copyright of the authors of samples used by VPO.
The video covers this whole issue in detail, hopefully making it clear what's wrong and why does it matter.
Until these licensing issues an be resolved, I recommend everybody: DO NOT USE VI...
