Here's a not so brief log of my recent activity, feel free to skip:
-Plan to get a headstart on traveling to attend a Birthday™ and Thanksgiving™
-Plan a release on both Patreon and Royalroadl before leaving
-Discover that Royalroadl is down on the day of the previously planned release thereby delaying the release
-Lament in my bad luck before realizing that both uploading and writing can be done upon arrival at my travel destinations

Light broke over the fortified camp, revealing numerous corpses of dead soldiers. The forces under Fox’s command had begun digging a mass ve as morning set in. Only after the installation was secure would civilians be allowed to enter.
“So, what do we do with him?” Hawk asked, nudging the quivering General Kent with his boot.
“Mmph!” General Kent made a muffled shout which was quickly stopped as Bear’s towering figure moved to stand over him.
“I say...

When I raised my head, I found myself in the inner court once more with a pair of eyes locked onto me.
“Uh… what the fuck are you doing?” Alexandra asked bluntly.
The demonic rapier had found itself at my feet. With a thought, the penumbra emerged and wrapped its shadowy fingers around the weapon before slowly recoiling back into my body.
“Would you mind?” I asked, gesturing to the canteen on her hip.
“...Sure.” She tossed it over, obviously a littl...

The realization struck me cleanly as we made our way over the extended drawbridge, an admirable construction that remained sturdy beneath the waves of heat that threatened to draw life from us.
Ruins were self-contained spaces, little loops that reset quite often. Unless they went untouched, then, eventually, they’d spill over and release a tide of monsters onto the public. However, the ruin shifts, they began to make more sense to me.
The reason why the Hell Gate was unpr...

Casper met the Hell Knights without reservation. His body moved like a gust of wind, while his blood spear continued to rotate. With the miasmic flame adorning the spear’s tip, it was more than enough to deal with the legion of monsters forming in front of him.
With a step forward, he shifted the momentum of the rotating spear and stabbed a hell knight, piercing straight through its molten body. Two waves of roiling blood spread out from his flank, engulfing several of the helli...

Hot.
A single word could describe the climate into the infamous ruin and it was the most fitting.
The expansive cavern sported lava waterfalls, crooked towers of stone, bat-like creatures flying through the air and just a general air of…– well, hellishness.
Geysers of fire hissed, spewing flames upward while the rivers of molten rock seemed to be unending. The remains of a castle loomed in the distance, a path straight down the middle led right to it. Our other cho...

Matthew groaned as he began to recollect the events of the previous night. A friend of a friend invited him to an outing and he went along. It was a pretty standard get together, but an extremely attractive man accompanied by similarly beautiful men and women invited him back to an “after-party” of sorts.
From there, things went… far different than he expected. As in, vaguely ritualistic, masked orgy, different.
“What was I thinking?” He gingerly...

Disappointment wasn’t quite the word that fit, but it felt close to how I felt now. I knew very well that the penumbra no longer had the same appetite it once did, but never did I imagine that piling all of the artifacts I gathered from my fights with New Era would fail to make it move even slightly. Recalling it was attached to my will, I filled my thoughts with consuming all the artifacts, but that also did nothing.
Even the goblet was useless, well I didn’t give it m...

Firstly, I'm terribly sorry for the delay, but I have good news!
I wanted to attempt to upload 20 chapters in October and then 20 more in November, with a new chapter going up every day. That clearly didn't turn out well, but the chapters meant for October are already written. (Mostly MM and TR, but a few of TWP are being released as well. I'm holding off on GoN until I finish writing one of the first two.)
I have 20 chapters ready to upload right now, but I could...

Standing alone in alleyway nestled between two buildings, a figure with a bag slung over his shoulder toiled away in the shadows. His hands moved, painting a brick wall with some strange substance.
“Hey!” A man wearing several rings shouted at the vandal. “Hey, old man?! Fuck off, would you?”
“Old man?” Casper snapped back, stepping out of the darkness.
“That’s a little rude, I mean sure, it’s a little grey, but still...” He murmured to himse...

The Endless Penumbra has developed the ‘Tempered’ attribute.
The ‘Tempered’ attribute will cause the following to occur:
-Weapons or relics manifested by you will undergo a ‘tempering’ process which allows them to gain increased power and durability.
-The Penumbra is now limited in what it can consume, once it reaches its maximum capacity, it will refuse to eat ...

I chipperly ate away at a pile of junk food while Alexandra tapped her foot not too far away. Oliver was free of the Drachen Arch’s control, but his condition was unstable. The arch helped preserve the physical condition of those who were in it, in addition to both Oliver and me having gifts that bolstered vitality. The problem occurred when Oliver was released, as his body no longer had the benefit of having his life force preserved.
Although he had been freed, Alexandra seemed...

Somewhere in Great Britain.
An old man sauntered forward, pushing open the rusted door of a chamber, keeping a solemn frown as the metal hinges groaned.
As light entered the room, a dust-covered, circular, table was revealed. Inscribed in its surface was a fading mural of knights. At the head of each seat, there were nameplates that had long since eroded under the influence of time.
“So you received my call?” A man spoke from within the shadows, ...

I had achieved another milestone in my 'ascent' to the peak, rather than it being an observable achievement, it was better described as gaining enlightenment.
Before separating my lifeblood, I read all sorts of documents that pertained to the soul itself. It was only now could I say I finally began to understand some of the metaphysical concepts behind it. It was a good foundation for learning the Art of Mortality, but I didn’t get sidetracked and veer off. I would...

Penelope looked upward to the twilight sky her face carrying the same melancholy as it always had. The promised day Casper had arranged had come and gone, leaving her to face rejection as he failed to call for her.
Penelope didn’t take it to heart, or, she tried not to. She couldn’t help but think her years of relative isolation caused her to be desperate when facing the idea of respite. The hope she held of spending a few moments away from her duty was high, but when it didn’t co...

Black crows with red-tipped feathers descended from the sky before a human-figured was revealed. His body was covered in plates of ivory that protruded from his skin, covering each individual muscle like a protective shell. The bone mask protecting his face revealed a set of familiar eyes.
“Casper,” I said, nodding my head toward him in greeting.
I– no, he– remained silent, taking stock of the situation.
“Which one of us is real?” He aske...

I was met with scenes of my previous fights, nearly all of them and I couldn’t help but frown, especially when I witnessed myself wielding blood, I could see where I grew and gained experience, sure, but there was no discipline, maybe? No, I guess Oliver would say control. Something I agreed with as I thought the very same before.
I wasn’t certain, but I think the proving grounds made it easier to assess myself. I could see small inconsistencies in using the...

Oliver Hallworth, I looked at him once more. His soul was… odd. Activating my Spirit Vision showed a soul that continued to blink, alternating between a blinding radiance and a dim flicker. Since I had never seen a soul as indecisive and strange as his, I had trouble placing it.
Alexandra had recounted me with a story of how he ended up trapped in the “Drachen Arch.”
Alexandra and Oliver met, or– were drawn together by their dragon-related gifts which ar...

It's a little late to say, but I'm a bit under the weather at the moment. It seems to be nothing more than a common cold, the fact that it is incurable still surprises me to this day.
I've attempted to convince myself that I'd be perfectly fine to write the next day, but I've told myself that for the past few days and instead of putting off any longer, I just wanted to update you all on the situation.
The good news is, at the time of posting this, I'm feeling much better tha...

Gaining insight into the element of air was no small thing. I didn’t just gain a sense of power, but rather, a feeling that was almost indescribable.
Air represented freedom, it was an expansive force of nature that, when given direction, could become immensely destructive. The nature of a gaseous substance was to expand, not restricted to any mold or form. I took that knowledge to be significant in any progress I sought to make from here on out.
I leaped forward, e...

Brodir entered a tent under the watchful gazes of the tribe members. Fear and caution fell over them as they eyed him, but he didn’t pay any attention to them.
Throwing open the tent flap, Brodir was met with the image of his son, Jorgun, beaten and broken.
An elderly woman wearing trinkets of animal remains held his hand, whispering incoherent words as if communicating with spirits.
Brodir patiently waited for her to finish, and when she did...

We were guided into an encampment which featured a gathering of hide and cloth tents. Most of the bloodhorn were corralled into a sturdy cage made from fallen trees and logs. I rested within the center of the panicked Bloodhorn who let out aggressive cries, breathing wildly as fear and panic took hold.
‘Could you all be quiet for a while?’ I wanted to ask.
My intent earned me a few moments of silence and they turned to stare at me, instantly making me ...

I had time to breathe.
The phantom heart was slowly forming within me, its empty yet ever-present weight could be felt in my chest. It wasn’t there physically, but as it took shape, it felt like it was manifesting in a corporeal form. Paired with the faint feeling of the miasmic essence resting in blood stream, my body felt strange.
It seemed as if the process of the heart's formation would take a few days, so I began to wonder about what to do next.

There were two lookouts posted at the front entrance of the factory. Their presence served as a big deterrent to any curious individuals and if someone stronger were to appear, they at least could delay the intruders and warn anyone inside.

“Oh, sorry,” Sunny muttered, becoming aware of her adoptive mother's presence.

“Aren’t you exhausted?” She replied with her own question. “Hell, if you aren’t hungry after that you aren’t human.”

Alexandra stood near a middle-aged man who chipperly perused a bookshelf.
“So, my son is an employee of yours? I mean, Casper’s always been a bright one, he just forgets that sometimes. You know, after his mother passed, he became– a little anti-social. I still remember finding tiny bones stashed around the house. Ah, people used to tell me he’d become some sort of killer and that just riled me up. As a parent, how can you sit by and accept that? Within a few days, I had spent at least ten hours following the flow of air. Meanwhile, the structure of this world became more apparent. During the day, most predators were asleep, no doubt saving their energy for their nightly hunts. I found it strange seeing that there was an obvious balance. It was rare to see those large wolves roaming outside of their den. I saw a bear the size of an ambulance before, however, it paid no mind and instead stripped a bush of its fruit.
‘I wo...

I began consuming unthinkable amounts of vegetation as I pushed deeper into the wilderness. The discovery of new species left me speechless, not that I could actually speak. Large birds sporting a bright plumage as colorful as the rainbow itself. Boars the size of small cars and hares the size of toddlers. There were even ants that were 30cm long, which was plain frightening.
Fortunately, they seemed to be docile, picking at fruits and fungi rather than chasing living creat...
