OSW Update! (November)

Hellooo!

Hope you're all doing amazing and Santa didn't rear his head until after Halloween was finished 😆 here's what's going down in Groovestown:

Our latest OSW, WM41 has been restored! It was down for 2 weeks fighting a nasty copyright claim (Charlotte Flair's interview) which I felt was both fair use, and integral to that part of the episode. I know it's 1m out of 198 but I thought it was an important minute! To humanise Charlotte and show the depth of her sadness and getting lost, you kinda need the whole thing for the impact. I kept quiet about it's removal in hopes that you'd already seen it, and thus wouldn't notice. What's next for OSW?
We're going to do a quick round of Brucie Bonus episodes before starting a new arc. It's close enough to Xmas (Nov ep, and the Xmas show!) so we'll be starting a new arc in 2026 🙂

In Production:
We're deep into video editing the next OSW, and more axcloosiv noggerU reviews too! The next episode was chosen as a tribute to Mo: a WWF PPV review! It'll be ready late Nov. Any guesses what it is? After that, it's a WCW review I don't think you'll guess 😂

A bit behind the curtain: WM41 was the last episode of our previous 'block' of recordings, so October was starting the whole production process from scratch again. This type of bulk recordings mean a shorter time in between episodes, i.e. the Cena arc was late June, late July, early Sept, Oct; that's pretty good going! But also a negative as i'm doing one thing four times at the same time (4x recording, 4x audio editing, 4x initial video editing, 4x final video editing) i didn't realise doing final video editing 4x in a row would melt my brain so much! But I'm real proud of how they all turned out - over 10 hours of OSW combined! Releasing Over The Top before Halloween gives us a bitta leeway to record OSWs and a fresh batch of NU reviews :)

Are we doing Holiday merch?
Nobody asked that but we'll answer that - we have 2 new Cartoon Network-inspired designs! We'll also have a small batch of Xmas Geansais & OSW plushies. Just Europe/UK for now, but working on getting a USA/CA distributor. I'll make a post next week when it's all ready to go! I just wanted to give ye a head's up :)

Anywoo, back to editing! wahoo! Man the next ep is SO much fun, and about 100mins. Hornswoggled OOC to watch extra matches, and he was just as delighted as you can imagine. Can't wait for ye guys to see it. Thanks for keeping us in business brahs and bras! Ye fookin' ROCK.

Yes techically still August but here's what's coming up on OSW! Hope you're doing amaze and been enjoying all the wrestling recently. Here's what's going down in Groovestown:

Ah man like 2 hours after i posted we were going live tomorrow, we got 15 fresh copyright blocks. Do you think it was because there wasn't enough Heidenreich? I'm doing the best I can!! Ah well. I'm aiming to publish it next weekend (6-7 sept) but if it gets cleared earlier I'll post it straight away. But hey there's a way to watch it now, clicky the link above 🙂

• The Longest Yard got a copyright takedown notice from Paramount!
Hey when it rains it pours. I'd no idea they were this prickly about YouTubers, we've previously reviewed Terminator 6 (YouTube link here) and the Sonic movie (YouTube link here) and they were cleared just fine! But the good news is they've never taken a youtuber to court (the video itself has a strong case - there's retrospectives, wrestling segments and original & remake comparisons etc) so I'm pretty confident it'll be fine next week. Copyright shenanigans aside, I'm really happy with the review itself! There's still half an hour of OSW after the film ends, we kinda just went 'fuck it' and put in lots more wrestling 😂 Hey if you wanna see 1 minute from the review (YouTube link here)

• If you've seen WM21 you know what the Brucie Bonus is (please don't spoil it until WM21 is live on YT for everyone!) and the video editing is well underway. It's even bigger than WM21 and ties into that review nicely! It's coming along great. Even commissioned a new animator (Jabatoons) for some fun flourishes. If you're wondering, the third pic on the banner is Bruce Forsyth on Play Your Cards Right, he had an extra prize called a "Brucie Bonus". So it's an additional gift

OSW Update! (Mid-Aug)

Helllooooo!

Hope you're having a lovely Sunday. Just wanted to check in and let ya know what we're busy beavering away with!

🏈 Next nU film review is The Longest Yard! That's the Adam Sandler gridiron movie that features Stone Cold, Goldberg, Kevin Nash and The Great Khali!! Not to mention a ton of people you'll recognise. We had a great time constantly injecting wrestling into the vid (even contains an impromptu match review, you'll never guess which one!) and runs about 77 mins.

🤼 We're also deep into editing WWE WrestleMania 21, it's coming out really well. Plenty of tentpole segments I can't wait for you to see. There's so much to talk about, and so many big matches on the card (Rey/Eddie, Taker/Orton, HBK/Angle, main events with Cena & Batista), current edit is about 2½ hours! It's an absolute monster I'm editing in 3 parts so my computer doesn't explode.

Rumble: Restored 2x "cunts"; for Basham pouring the champagne into JBL's eyes, and Hardcore Holly taking liberties with Daniel Puder

No Way Out:
- No B&W footage
- added 3 mins of restored footage: Joy, Luther Reigns, and PPV ending (1h10, 1h22, 1h51)
- also restored 1x "cunt" during the aftermath! (Me telling V1 "you're such a cunt!")

No Way Out's file is ~5.3GB. I think that's a wee bit much for a 2-hour episode, but I experimented with a lower target bitrate (3400kbps, 4000kbps) and I think it's noticeably compressed. This file is 5700kbps and looks real nice 🙂

Anywoo hope ya enjoy and see ya this weekend for Princess Mononoke! It's a smidge under an hour and includes me marking out over the Zelda inspirations

OSW Update! (late June)

Hope you're all doing amaze and not getting too burnt with the sunshine! Here's what's going down in GroovesTown 🌞



OSW Royal Rumble 2005: Finally WWE released their grasp on the Royal Rumble episode so it went live! WWE really didn't want to clear it, must be all that Heidenreich footage 😂 I must give it at least 10 days lead time in the future. The main reason to have things release here first is that it triggers YouTube's deeper copyright scanning. And it also gives ya a nice early edition, so win-win!

Next OSW is No Way Out 2005! Video editing is underway and it's coming along great. It's a bollix-heavy episode which was so much fun to record. I was able to sneak in a Top 10 list during the show; Top 10 Kayfabe in Wrestling (as in, things that only make sense in the wrestling world; like wrestlers can only ascend ladders slowly!) Can you think of any others?

No Way Out also features the original original Tribal Chief ☝️



Next nU film review: I'll reveal that when I'm closer to completion! Pardon me. But it's a genre we've never covered before, so myself and v1 are both out of our comfort zone. It was cool exploring that world! More on it next update 🙂 If you're wondering, OOC only does episodes because he has limited free time, so any time he is free, we record a mainline OSW :) so these film reviews are more to say thanks to you for keeping us afloat, and to tide ya over between big releases.

Welcome to the new OSW arc!!

Helloooooo and welcome everyone, familiar friends and new! Hope you enjoyed our brand-spanking newest episode, we’re ecstatic to be breaking pretty untouched ground with OSW in 2005. Crazy, eh? 

As we revealed in our new arc TRAILER we're doing a 3-Part "First Time Is Now" arc!
• Royal Rumble 2005 (watch here!)
• No Way Out 2005
• WrestleMania 2005

As you can see, it’s a much shorter arc than the last, akin to the David Arquette Trilogy! We're commemorating Cena’s final run and hopefully tie it up before he loses the belt 😂 The arc was pitched by our editor Nies earlier this year and we loved it. There were a ton of incredible ideas for arcs when I posted on YouTube if u wanna read! We got material another decade! Couple of Qs that I’ve seen:

Q: Will you do any brucie bonus vids?
A: Maybe! If there’s an excellent idea you guys pitch, I’d be open to it. These are the core shows we want to cover. Gimme your suggestions below?

Q: Does this mean no TV reviews?
A: Yes, we won’t formally do any Raw or SD reviews, but we’ll incorporate them into the main video instead (eg Batista’s thumbs 👍👎 in the No Way Out episode)

Q: Are we doing a Golden Noggers afterwards?
A: No, since it’s so short we’ll do another arc first, and then do a GNs about both!

Q: Is there much Heidenreich in this arc?
A: Not enough.

OOC's Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Deep Dive!

We've done something we've never done before, do a follow-up vid on a videogame! V1 & OOC's favourite game (Elden Ring) got a gigantic DLC, and what better time to deep-dive it than on the eve of the next Elden Ring game, NightReign. It's a 84-minute trek through Shadow of the Erdtree!

NEXT WEEKEND: Our follow up to Elden Ring with Shadow of the Erdtree! Holy crap you guys loved our Elden Ring Deep Dive (over 316k views!) and with Elden Ring NightReign dropping at the end of the month, it's a great time to get everyone up to speed. It's about 90 mins long; very different than the base game review - it takes my favourite bit of that video (us razzing each other watching us fight bosses) and turns it into the main event: OOC's NG+7 Boss Showcase! Which is what it sounds like; it's OOC's 8th playthrough where he fights the bosses (which is about half an hour long). It's literally the most OOC's ever taken the lead in an OSW review :D
If you have any suggestions on things you want added to the video (as in, something i can put in myself, the podcast has already been recorded) pls lemme know and i'll try make it happen!

We're getting the video pieces for our first pass of the episode together! We'll be editing and dropping the trailer when the episode is ready for NoggerU. (As always, it drops here first as we sort out the copyright, which usually takes 1-2 weeks). The ep should drop here in the first half of June - i'll update when we're closer to launch. It's going great btw it's whopper, over 2 hours and dude -- i'm so happy with it! It's really fresh and i think you'll love it.

🎂 OSW is 14 today!!

Today's OSW's birthday!!
We've been bringin' the bollix since May 5, 2011. Thanks for being with us brahbrahs 💚

On this day (May 5) in 2011, we released our very first episode, WrestleMania 1. The show was made out of spite! The Attitude Era was getting all the love, and I wanted people to know just how awesome the coke & steroids era of WWF was too :D

It came about as my bro bought me a rake of Silvervision DVDs for Christmas (someone was selling like, 30 of them!) and I thought it'd be cool to make use of 'em. I was a big fan of Review-a-Wai (now POSTwrestling) and wanted an Irish version of it, with Simpsons and Partridge and Blackadder quotes lol.

I remember we'd cancelled our podcast recording session TWICE already (it was meant to be a 4-man pod; but someone dropped out last minute both times) and third time V1 couldn't make it, but we pushed on ahead, or else I think we would've cancelled the whole thing. I'm glad we forged ahead and I hope you did too!

Our original goal was to get to SummerSlam '92 - that being the peak and the first major show this side of the pond. I had to stop episodes for about 4 months between Mania 6 and SummerSlam 1990 for exams, but took the time to improve the production. I had no idea what I was doing, having no training tech-wise. Which is why early eps sound ropey - they're done with a rock band mic held up by a tea-towel in a popcorn tub!

It was also around circa Mania VII that I knew I wanted to continue, and we've been going ever since! When OSW was impinging on my work and home life, a fan we met at WWE event in Dublin suggested we open a patreon. I was hesitant but thought, if I can show my family it brings in something, anything, that there is some merit in it. So i set the goal for $400. We blew past it in minutes! I was more relieved than anything, I thought I killed OSW!

But thankfully it grew so it could employ myself and v1, and a host of freelance editors, animators and musicians too! Thanks to NoggerU we can keep going and bring what's in my leaking spongebag of a brain to life, lol.

Anyway i'll stop blathering, know I appreciate you and let's ride until the wheels fall off! Here's to the next 14 years! 🙂🍻

I know ye lads might want soft copies of the eps in case you're without internet or just to have/hoard 😃

These are technically superior as episodes are slow encoded with higher quality audio than what YouTube compress. Later episodes have some stuff uncensored from YouTube (mostly us saying 'cunt' and some shots of bloody faces)

I would recommend creating a free mega account and installing it's app to get better speeds/bandwidth. If you're having probs with it pls lemme know, as well as if u notice a video missing I can upload that 🙂

OSW update! (April 2025)

Heya lads!
Just to update ya, editing is coming along great, and i'll be finished this week!




It's a massive episode, over 2h20! There's a big-ass section on the scandalous Russo shoot and the whole kerfuffle, as we examine what each of the major players claimed happen.



WCW 2000: Even though it's been a decade since the Arquette Arc, it doesn't feel that long ago for me! Is just one Russo-rific PPV enough to drive V1 insane? You'll have to find out!



As always, the early version will be posted here as soon as it's ready, and then when it's cleared copyright it'll be going live on YouTube, which is usually 1-2 weeks later.

Wrestling Bios is also covering Bash at the Beach later this month, so between us it's gonna be a big blow out!

I realise there's something huge on this weekend (Easter Sunday obviously) but hey, wanted to let ya know where we are! Thank you for your support and allowing our madcap show to continue.

Hobbit 3 storyboards!

Thought it'd be cool to share what the Gervais animation looked like from draft to final 🙂 I work with the very talented Donald Kirby, whose fingerprints are all over the show; from Spider-Bret to the creation of AEW (Revolution) to The Last of Us 2 Ghost Ship, to this!
