Simblreen 2023 - Witching Hour Two
As the calendar flipped over from December 1999 to January 2000, cities around the world hosted large celebrations. There had been one planned in Seattle, Washington, but after a World Trade Organization conference led to protests in early December, the mayor decided that it would be best to play it safe and cancelled the event. Seattle residents had to find new ways to ring in the Millennium, and the city’s many coffee shops were a ...

Simblreen 2023 - Weekend Two
It was a challenge to come up with a set of three outfits for my modern weekend, but ultimately I went with an American Girl catalogue spread from 1997. Two of the outfits (the lawn party and culotte dresses) had similar doll-sized versions. Each comes in variations of 14 swatches from no particular palette.
The daisy hat was paired with the culotte dress in the catalogue, but will also match the other two outfits. It is a mesh edit of...

Inspired by the Dear Canada diary To Stand on My Own. You may recognize this dress and Noreen from my Full Body Leg Braces. I made some changes to it, so it's not an exact replica.

Simblreen 2023 - Weekend One
For the first weekend of the event, I wanted to make something Western that could be released in three parts. The answer was the Cooper Siblings from Doctor Quinn: Medicine Woman. Each outfit comes in a child and T-E version.
*Hours are in Pacific Daylight Time (UTC-7) and subject to change.*
At this point it looks like I will still be at my current job in late October, but I'm crossing my fingers that one of my many applications will pay off.
I'm now having to work from home on Fridays, which means that I will have uninterrupted access to my phone and no commute time. Each day of the event will run from 8am-8pm. Throughout the day there will be breaks when I turn my porchlight off, but you are wel...

With the new Base Game snack bag functionality, I knew that I wanted to update the three lunchboxes that I've made. Took longer than I expected for S4S to be updated. Samantha and 2023-09-10 04:15:53 +0000 UTC

My biggest disappointment with Horse Ranch was the CAS assets, as most of the items don't work for historical Western gameplay. This has always been one of my favorite genres and I wanted some more clothes to go along with the new rustic furniture. Lately I've been binge-watching Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman, which has given me a lot of inspiration for women's, men's, and children's clothing in the 1860s-70s. To start it off I went with a simple dress worn by the title charac...

Before the revelation of Germ Theory in the mid-1800s, it was commonly believed that diseases such as the bubonic plague were caused by foul odors in the air. People would walk around with pomander necklaces stuffed with herbs held up to their noses to try to ward off the bad vapors. Though society didn't understand the role rats played in transmitting the plague (they carried the fleas which carried the bacteria Yersinia pestis), there was some correlation made between the rodents a...

A generic lot inspired by the one room prairie schoolhouse that Kirsten Larson attended with her cousins and brothers.
No CC was used in the build so that you can insert your own favorite prairie and schoolhouse items. The only packs I used were: Get Together, Cats and Dogs, Cottage Living, and Horse Ranch.
CC I recommend:
Part of Steggy Week 2023 - Day 2 (WIPs and Updates)
I needed to update Steve and Peggy's wardrobe since I have decided to play with their household more. The finale of Endgame takes place in 1949, so I dressed them into the 1950s. Because Peggy had short hair in the 1953 interview from The Winter Soldier, I chose that for consistency. Steve’s everyday look is inspired by Endgame.
Peggy:
Inspired by the house that the Larsons purchased from the Stewarts at the end of Changes for Kirsten. Inside has three bedrooms with furniture for toddlers and infants. Outside has an outhouse, chicken coop, cow shed, horse stable, and garden plots.
*The gallery says that there is one build asset each from Dine Out and Parenthood, but I checked multiple times and couldn't find them. Don't worry if you don't have either of those packs, but you will want Cot...

Prelude to Tumblr's Steggy Week 2023. I had other projects in mind for days 2 (WIPs and updates) and 7 (free choice), so I've decided to upload this a week prior to the event.
A starter home in San Sequoia worked well as a base for Peggy's house in 1949. The exterior, dining room, parlor, kitchen and master bedroom are inspired by official reference photos. It's also designed to be a family home, with a nursery and child's bedroom.
My first step was to decorate the house as closel...

Liberty's Kids portrays the American Revolution from the Boston Tea Party of 1773 to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 following the adventures of Sarah, a Loyalist newly arrived from England, James, a newspaper apprentice supporting the Patriot cause, and Henri, a French orphan who is attracted to trouble. With its thoughtful handling of complex issues, star-studded cast of voice actors, and absolute bop of a theme song, it remains one of the few shows from my childhood that I s...

I didn't quite know what to expect when I announced the contest, as the theme was very niche. But I'm glad that there were a few people willing to put their thinking caps on and come up with creative uses for the patterns.
First place goes to cmoonsims, whose two-part entry had objects recolored in the patterns, incorpo...

Some of my Patrons asked for older and/or cultural CC, and Georgiamommypeach requested traditional Slavic clothing from before the Soviet era.
My first thought was Anetka Kaminska from the Dear America diary A Coal Miner’s Bride. When searching for the source of her cover portrait, I learned that the photo comes from Russia in 1909. Since Anetka was from Poland, she wouldn’t have worn this style...

Another item from The Medicine Cabinet. Throughout history, people have worn amulets in an effort to ward off disease. Even after Germ Theory became widespread, the appeal of these objects remained strong. In the 1920s, English folklorist Edward Lovett went around 26 districts in London, asking street vendors what they would recommend to help protect a child against bronchitis. Everywhere he went, he was offered a necklace like this and marked it on a map. The color of the necklace v...

Before arriving in Philadelphia, Addy never had the opportunity to go to school. But she took to it easily, practicing by helping Momma learn how to read in the evenings. When her class had a spelling bee, Momma made Addy a brand new suit to wear for the occasion. All her studying paid off when Miss Dunn pinned a first place medal to her jacket.

Here's the second part of my 2,000 followers gift. The Hoffman twins received 40% of votes in the poll, so since I have been wanting to update my AG sims dump for a while, I decided to go ahead and make their outfits now. They also fit with my lookbook theme for the month. Isabel and Nicki come from an interfaith household and celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah.
**Items in Bold are new**
Instead of making a lookbook for Rebecca Rubin herself, I chose one of my favorite side characters from her stories. Lillian Armstrong (née Arnovitch) comes from a family of Ukrainian immigrants. She shows Rebecca that it's possible to follow her dreams while staying true to tradition, and encourages her to stand up for what she believes in.
Lily's aspiration is World Famous Celebrity and her traits are Ambitious, Family-Oriented, and Foodie.
In case anyone was worried that I had switched entirely to the 21st century, I present one of my all-time favorite characters: Zipporah "Zippy" Feldman from the Dear America diary Dreams in the Golden Country. Her story begins as she arrives at Ellis Island following the Russian pogroms of 1903.
Zippy is twelve when her story starts but I made her a teen to have an easier time finding CC. Using the TV adaptation for inspiration. She has the Master Actress aspiration to go along...

This isn't the most extensive followers gift I've done, but I tried to make it versatile. May is the busiest time of year for me at work and I've taken on two other people's loads, so by the time I get home each day I'm exhausted.
Inspiration came from a 2000 JCPenney catalog, though I freestyled to make it easier on myself. Some swatches ...

Phineas and Ferb is my favorite animated show, so I thought it would be fun to make Isabella. As demonstrated by her last name, her family blends together Mexican and Jewish traditions. This includes celebrating both Christmas and Hanukkah and running a fusion restaurant called Nosh Olé (which I wish existed IRL).
The first three outfits are ones we see Isabella in quite often. Most of the time she is either in her purple dress or Fireside Girls uniform. Every now and...

First up in my lookbooks for Jewish American characters is someone from our May decade of the month, the 2000s. I've shared more of her story when I posted the meet outfit (linked below).
Lindsey's childhood aspiration is Creative Genius (from Growing Together) and she has the Dog Lover trait. As she grows up, I would give her the Friend of the Animals aspiration with the Creative and Good traits.
The hardest outfit to recreate ended up being the pajamas. In the book she'...

When Rebecca’s parents and grandparents immigrated to America, they couldn’t take much with them, but one of the items they made sure to bring was their samovar. They use it every Shabbos to prepare tea the Russian way. Rebecca likes to participate in Shabbos traditions by lighting candles alongside her sisters.
I am basing this off the original version sold by AG from 2009-2013. It was rebranded in 2014 as Teatime Traditions, and then in 2019 split into two parts: Sabbath Set and P...

Alice Nanea Mitchell lives in Honolulu, Hawaii where she loves to hula dance, help out at her grandparents’ food market and eat shaved ice with her best friends. When Japanese planes attack Pearl Harbor and the territory finds itself thrust into World War Two, Nanea makes it her mission to keep the Aloha Spirit alive.
