Greetings all! Continuing in the theme of creating an independent, centralized space for Innkeep news and communication, the webpage now has its own forums. ;-)
I would like to get a Patreon supporters locked forum going if I can figure that out.
Of course, Discord will continue to be (I suspect) the main area for the community, but not -everybody- uses it, and there is somethi...

My dear beloved Patreon supporters. How are you? I'm good. Actually, I'm great! Last night I went to a cinema and watched a movie. This is actually incredible for me. It had been 12 months since I last did that...
If you are up to date with the saga of the last few months you'll know I was in pretty bad shape. For the first four months of this year I had my eyes more or less entirely closed, and was so sensitive to sound that a leaf blower across the street could bring me to tears. Even...

Hi everybody,
As those of you on discord or who follow my twitter channel will already know, I've unfortunately had to take a few months off from Innkeep development while resting my eyes. I've developed some neurological issues following serious eye strain (starting with playing that darn Elden ring back in Feb). It turns out that the root cause may be past head trauma weakening one...

Hi all! Another week done. It's been pretty productive on the development front! Some more bug-fixing progress, and a lot of work on the tutorial sequence. Some cool stuff shaping up for the rest of July. ;-)

Meanwhile, I've written another article on Innkeep development on Indie DB. This one is focused on the barrel system.
Go drop by and give it a look 2022-07-08 15:45:18 +0000 UTC

Lo everybody! To help a bit with wishlist generation and general visibility I'll be writing a number of articles on IndieDB about the game.
Today's article is about the cooking system. Check it out!

As the title says, the Innkeep steam page is now live. :-)
Regardless of if you will be receiving a copy later for free as part of patreon rewards, a wishlist would help out with the steam algorithm! So please do drop by and hit that wishlist button. :-)
It's quite something getting to this milestone. Thanks so much everybody for your support!

Hi everybody. It's been a very busy month and a half of Innkeep development. There's been a serious revamp of the exterior of the inn, progress on the thievery minigame and lighting systems, work done on the food serving system, some narrative event work, more animations, and general polish, bug fixing, and more. It's full steam ahead towards a working demo. I'm also pleased to announce that Innkeep has a new trailer, where you can spot some of the progress made in the various shots.&nb...

Greetings all,
Hope you have settled in for an end of year break. Here in the southern hemisphere Christmas means broiling heat and desperately keeping our lawns alive (4 days of 40c+ coming up over Christmas break). Meanwhile, John has informed me that in lovely Russia it is about minus -15c atm. (O.o)
2021 has been a pretty big year for Innkeep! Maybe the biggest ever in terms of just how much got done. So I thought I'd take the time to give a bit of an overview, and talk ...

Happy weekend all. It's Saturday, which means its time for another quick One Minute Dev Diary. ;-) This week I'm looking at the perspective I use in the game.

Happy Saturday everybody. Hope you're getting some R&R and playing some good games. Me, I've spent the day working on a new dev diary video, the first in quite some time. I decided to try a new format, where I talk about just one feature I've been working on, and for just one minute. Easier to make, easier to watch. Current Patreon supporters are listed at the end of the video! I have used initials for last names for privacy. If you have a nickname you pr...

Intro sequence (completed)
About a month ago I was fortunately able to start getting a bit more time available to get back into development on a daily basis. Since then I was able to make a lot of progress with the introduction sequence for the demo, completing all the necessary animation and dialogue writi...

Lo all.
Work continues on the intro sequence. Really exciting that you can actually "play" Innkeep now for five minutes or so, not including menu interaction. Funny enough to say, but I think that means I'm maybe half way to being finished with the game. ;-p
Thought I might share another sound track by John. This one is a kind of end / victory track. Really good example of the MIDI folk rock style he put together for the game.
Thanks as always for the suppo...

Bit of a shorter one this week, as I've got bogged down working on the roof tiles. I've learnt a lot and made good progress, but it has been extremely time consuming!

I started out by applying the new shingle texture to the roof, and attempting to make it look decent with a bit of shadow burning and what not. I then eventually reached the realization that this texture was simply too...

Greetings all. It's been another flat out week working on Innkeep. ;-) I've made some pretty significant progress with the exterior, and also finally learnt how to use a tablet.

After finally figuring out some of the shortcuts and things you need to use a tablet, the first simple thing I tried my hand at was some basic rocks to liven up the steppe area by the road and cliff edge.

Lo all. December already! Time flies when you have your nose to the grindstone. >< As you might have seen from some twitter posts or from discord, I've been getting through some work crunch for the past couple of months, with not much to show in terms of game dev screenshots and what have you. This wrapped up a couple of weeks ago, so while recovering I've started getting back into developing innkeep. Even better, I've set aside a few weeks to focus on it full time, which I usually do a...

Hi everybody! It's time for another dev diary. We are at number 17 and going strong. ;-9
Some neat stuff to check out (although I forgot to even draw attention to the new bar sprite).
The work you can see in this video is really marking the line at which we begin to cross over into core gameloop mechanics.
Thank you all as always for your patient support. I'll be able to properly show off the results with respects to Togeirs art in the next video I think. (...

Greetings fellow ale swilling pilferers!
I thought it was about time that I shared a bit more detail on what is going on development wise, and in particular on what the future development roadmap is looking like. Apologies if my writing is a bit disjointed, as I am still recovering from what is possibly the longest cold I've ever experienced and my brain is not exactly firing on...

Hi all. Just a quick update on the current Innkeep dev status. The last month has been pretty busy for me as I painted my new house and moved all of me and my partners worldly possessions into it. I capped off the process by spilling liquid into the guts of my laptop and frying it, with the latest versions of my game and image files on the hard drive!
On the positive side, this was a good excuse to finally upgrade to a proper desktop PC, after years in the wilderness using laptops (I was...

Hi everybody. If you follow my twitter you may have noticed that development went quiet for the last two weeks. I'm just coming out of the other end of crunch time with my day job and freelance work. Expect to see things begin to pick up from today as I return to active development. Looking forward to making concrete progress over the remainder of the year.
Cheers,

Hi everybody. I announced this on my twitter feed the other day, but I'm very pleased to announce that Innkeep now has a music and FX guy. The portly master of the house is standing directly behind it, waiting to pounce. He must have been watching out of one of the grubby windows and spied you coming up the street. His face already prepared with an obsequious smile, he reaches out his chubby hands to grab at you in an apparently helpful yet decisively firm manner, pulling you inside and across the hear...
