Honestly, I've never been great at monthly drawing challenges. I get behind on them very quickly because of other projects. That being said though, I'm going to try and make an effort to do at least 12-15 of them. One every other day doesn't seem so bad.
I'm pretty rusty with traditional media in general. My hand is pretty shaky, so getting lines perfect is pretty tough especially for someone that hasn't done much traditional work in over 10 years. I'm going to keep trying though!

For my warmup today I decided to give one of my old drawings a little upgrade. Its hard to believe I drew that over 9 years ago now. It reminds me that my progress has been a bit slow, but its coming along. :) This was originally drawn during the time I "quit" art, though I'd doodle this kind of stuff every few months.
Maybe in a few years I'll repaint over it again and see where I'm at then!

Sorry for the delay in posting this! Apparently in my rush to get the image finished I accidentally merged my lineart layer and didn't notice until a day ago. Had to redraw out the lines for this, but thankfully it didn't take too long. Here is the mini file pack for this artwork. :)

and done! I painted this a little different than most things. I wanted to keep it sort of pastel color wise and very light, almost like paint or watercolor. I'm not sure how well I did on that front but it was a fun exercise regardless. :) I also did this completely in Photoshop over my usual Sai, so I got to play with a lot of various brushes.

So apparently I'm just not done with Ysera, and I've decided to do an actual little painting of her. Originally I had this as her dragon form, that you can kind of see in a previous sketch post.

So the past two months have been pretty busy and stressful for me, unlike last year I didn't have the option of taking back hours on my day job. Part of my Art Collector tier involved getting a choice between a small ATC mixed media painting or a 5x7 sketch commission!
I'm SUPER rusty with traditional media, considering I've mostly done digital for the past 10 years. I've been dying to get back into and boy is it hard! I'm so grateful for those in this tier because they allow me to get back into things and play around a little bit. ^^ I can't wait to do more!

I tried to keep as many layers I could this time, but as a warning, I didn't really name any of the layers so its a little chaotic! ;) I typically will merge layers as I go, so trying not to was a little tough. Hopefully though, it will let you see how some of the layers work. Just a note though, you need to open it in Photoshop, as some of the layer modes do not work in Paint Tool Sai.
