Emily had thought the man like all the others, a greedy asshole who only cared about himself. They were a dime a dozen, popping up like worms after a rainstorm.
The General had given each asshole the smackdown they deserved. He was a fair leader, something she couldn’t say for many of her past commanders. Unlike her comrades, she didn’t view him like a messiah—he had flaws like all men. And yet his strength was his innate ability to get his men to believe in him. In this fucked up...

There was an immediate reaction. Behind General Hawthorne, the soldiers staggered. Beads of stress sweat trailed down their foreheads, their faces red, mouths in grimaces. Hawthorne clutched his desk with a white knuckled hand, that blank expression wiped clean and replaced with shock. He scanned Logan with what had to be [Identify] before his mouth slackened.
One of the soldiers shouted, a frantic cry for attention, but when a man with a buzzcut burst through the door,...

Idiot's Paradox - Book Two
Author's note: Apologies for the chapter delay. I was quite sick this weekend and updating last night proved impossible.
As for this chapter, one of my favorite scenes in the Man of Steel movie is when the army is interrogating Superman at the base. He’s sitting down, his hands in cuffs. He stands up and breaks the cuffs, like, you’re trying to threaten me? Yeah, you might want to rethink that.
They came to a tire-skiddin...

Logan felt his nerves surge as the group approached. Many times, he’d gotten his hopes up that he would be dealing with sane people, only to be shot in the foot again and again. At first, Damsel’s group had appeared well organized. A group that protected its citizens.
Look how that ended up.
By now, Logan had learned that he couldn’t trust his first impressions.
For all of that, he couldn’t deny feeling hope. Low leveled soldiers led the group in front of him. Organi...

Author's Note: I’ve been working my way through book one and making edits in preparation for getting it ready for publication. And hah! I forgot that Logan nabbed nonaonalic juice from the Silverdagger Clan and had it in his spatial storage. Obviously, that’s super important. LOL.
He had four lodestones left, that meant four destinations. Although [Threshold Shift] let him travel anywhere he could envision, there were limited areas he could fix...

Author’s note: I realized that it didn’t make a lot of sense for Logan to leave Jack’s cabin without crafting a lodestone there first. I’ll be revising that chapter slightly. Not writing a new scene… only mentioning that Logan crafted a lodestone there and that he asked Lara to spread the word about his quest to the others before he leaves for Australia.
Logan’s excitement originated from one place.
Two weeks ago, the System had invaded and transf...

Logan had used the soldiers’ lifeforce to build his carbon sucking tree. There had been no other alternative, since although Logan could use Karma to power [Life Fabricator], he could only do that if he had a base to work with. A seed or a plant. This time, he’d envisioned a seed out of nothing, powering it with the only thing around—the soldiers. At the time, he’d noticed that something felt off, but the urgency of growing the tree so he could succeed at the Build an...

Charlie looked down at his bucket of green beans that had cost him 20,000 KarmaCoin, and then at the 50 individual green bean pods that had cost 2,000 each, his mouth puckered in distain, his eyes furrowed and his face flushed red with anger.
“Happy now?” he spat. Then muttering, “I hate green beans.”
You and me both, asswipe.
Behind him, the other three soldiers stared at their buckets of green beans with queasiness and glazed eyes. They’d yet to recover ...

Author’s note: Hah! So things happened in Canada this weekend that made it a little difficult to get into Logan’s head. Hence the slight delay. Hopefully I didn’t make him too excessively angry.
One minor revision note: I’ve made an adjustment to chapter 46. When people examine Logan’s system market, it now shows:
[Lodestone Access Point: Idiot’s Market]
Logan felt his lip curl with disdain as the bullets hurtled towa...

Charlie twisted in Logan’s grip, kicking his feet. “Well, what are you waiting for! Attack him!”
Logan growled and dug his talons into Charlie’s shoulder, slicing deep. Instead of gripping him by the back of his shirt, he gripped him like a stuck pig.
“I’m not sure that’s a fight we’re going to win!” said Nettle.
“Listen to your friend,” said Logan to the other soldiers.
“What happened to Damsel?” asked another, his hand trembling...

Author's note: This one ended up an actual double chapter at over 4K words, so I'm breaking it up into two. I might end up posting two chapters to RR too -- I haven't decided yet.
Interesting story! I'd written half of this chapter, and then I needed to go on a long drive for work, so I tried dictating the rest in the car. Let me tell you... never again. Although I wrote a lot, the editing was a nightmare... weirdly placed words, sent...

Mia had a metal telekinesis skill so it shouldn’t surprise Logan that she’d managed to master it to the point where she could fly. But it wasn’t true flying—not the flying he could do once he put on his other Pink Sock. Logan could counter her skill and put it on, but it was soaked in Matt’s sweat (ugh), ...

Just a note that I’ve revised chapter 59, A Little Bit of Rebellion, up to chapter 63, Damsel.
The storyline is the same, but Mia acts less suspicious. Also, Logan suspects that she has a stealth class two times, but Mia uses her mind skills to manipulate him into forgetting. There’s no reason to re-read the chapters, since everything else happened the same, but I think Logan comes across better in this updated version!
Thank you for the feedback on those chapters!

As Ernie stared at Logan’s disappearing back and watched [Threshold Shift] take him away, he could admit to a strange emotion. Logan was his bonded human; someone who had turned from a squishy human weakling to a power that rivaled all. Ernie was proud of him and wanted him to succeed. And yet, yet…
Why did Logan get to have all the fun? Why did he get to build an empire when Ernie was stuck here being… being… dare he say it?

Author's note: Apologies for the delay! I had a weird week. :-(
Back in the Tactician Trial, he’d used his spatial storage collar to tunnel his way down the cliff and into the base of the gorge. He’d had to create a tunnel on both sides of the canyon, which meant a heck of a lot of dirt.
Logan had no illusions that burying Mia under a mountain of dirt would kill her, but one thing was for sure, it would make him feel a heck of a lot better. It would also have th...

A pit opened inside of Logan’s stomach, his heart racing, his mouth dry. No wonder he’d thought he’d forgotten something. Mia had been fucking with his mind all along, supressing his natural suspicion that something about her had been FUBAR. Not only that, but her jewelry had managed to hide her hidden name, a feat he hadn’t thought possible.

Mia’s shapely bare legs looked like something out of a runway. Her hips swayed as she walked, her arms swinging by her sides. She’d pulled her blonde hair into a tight ponytail, and it looked soft to the touch. Stray bits of hair outlined her graceful, elegant neck, her skin clear of sweat, no freckles to be found. Gorgeous. Wafting from her was the faint scent of lavender, drowning out the smell of burnt plastic around them.
Logan didn’t know why he’d ever thought she ...

Logan did a quick inventory of his spatial storage contents and then took a deep breath. Was he really going to stand in front of this thing, this blob the size of a house, and let it swallow him? You betcha, motherfucker.
Besides, he had something else up his sleeve.
Bombs.
Back in the tactician trial, Asthea had planted bombs inside of the rock monster’s chest, letting them run into t...

Logan had only a second to blink in realization before he dragged Voss away from the blob. Dragged him so forcibly that he left the meat tenderizer inside of the fleshy red ooze. Voss’ hand and arm left the blob with a slick, squishy plop.

Plastic crunched underneath their feet, the street littered with empty cartons, flimsy plastic bags, and bottles. That sharp, noxious reek of burning plastic was back, as if someone had dumped a container inside of a microwave and turned it on until it charred.

Author's note: I hope everyone had a nice holiday! And a nice Christmas if you celebrated it. I took a short break but the schedule should go back to normal now.
Getting side-tracked in a fighting party wasn’t ideal, but the way Logan figured it, if he took charge of the group and pushed everyone to move their asses, giving everyone only enough time to participate in the fight so they’d obtain XP, he could get this done in less than an hour. That would still give him twenty...

Logan’s appearance didn’t make the soldiers react. And Logan realized why a second later. Behind him, more people were converging on the road and heading towards the barrier. From seniors to people with young children, they had worn out faces, as if they’d aged a decade in the last week.

To burn a plant was the easy part. The hard part was ensuring that he kept the fire under control. Although smog suffused the area, the heat hadn’t let up. It was that dry, desert heat that withered plants and turned green grass into yellow weeds. In fact, for the plant to be as green and lush as it was, it must be evidence that something hinky was at work.
In a normal world, without water, the plant wouldn’t survive. That was one thing in Logan’s favor. The plant was...

Using [Life Fabricator] to reverse a zombie infection was a huge task. Until now, on organic beings, Logan had used brute force tactics. From the bark ants to the tree vine at Hope’s End. Hell, even the mutated tree that he’d grown out of Thorin’s chest. He’d managed to age someone in Pied’s Kingdom, but he hadn’t been concerned with safety; he’d been experimenting. Whether the man had lived or died would have suited his purposes either way...

Logan blinked at Matt. For a second, he didn’t understand what he’d said.
Then he breathed.

Ever since he’d arrived at the cabin, his emotions had been fluctuating wildly from hope to trepidation. Logan knew Matt would do anything he could to stall and save his own skin, but this was a bit much, even for a stupid, young kid with sociopathic tendencies.
So.
