Beginning a deep dive into production

Hello!

It's always my intention to share more here. This will happen! :)

I'm so happy to share that from this week for the next two months-ish I'm focusing more on production and seeing where I get to at the end of July with regards either an album or an EP or a 'new body of work' to release.

I'm very excited (exactly how you would want to feel) about this process, and it's the right time for it to happen in my life.

I can't wait to share this music with you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being along for the ride ❤️

Sending love to all my patreon family! I'm about to embark on a few months of recording! I'm excited.

I saw there were some updates in Patreon, which means you can live stream from here. This is something I've been waiting for and am really happy about! I need to research if it's something I can do (or if you need certain amount of followers etc) but if so I will be including songwriting/production/chat livestreams here which I'm so stoked about as it's my favourite way to engage with people interested in my work as an artist.

The best curtains of my life and other things

I have been gifted a macbook pro 🥲🥲🥲 I feel so lucky and so grateful. This is a 10 year upgrade on my old laptop and will make the next few months increase in productivity a lot! When something like this happens, any doubts I had of if I should continue, dissappear for a while, and I feel stronger! This also means I don't have to get in debt for a new machine yet, and I only need to save/raise £300 for the DAW (the programme to make music on) and some new leads!

The curtains are important to me as it means I could have natural light back in the room when I'm not streaming, and makes teaching feel more comfortable for myself and my future students to work in this space. Environment is really important to me and so this makes me very happy!

What else can I tell you?

I had an amazing show playing original songs on Friday at The New Women's Songbook alongside some incredible songwriters. It felt great to have a listening crowd, and I got them singing and then in another song they started voluntarily clapping along, which felt immense! It drove home to me how much I need and crave opportunities like these to play my songs and be an artist performing as opposed to the gigging musician earning a crust from playing covers. No shade to that, massive respect for this as a job. But the difference I feel is a lot. I'm hoping and praying for more opportunities like this and that my next album will be good enough to warrant festival bookings galore 😍😍😍

Today, my mood is slightly low, and I'm a bit in sensory overload. I'm about to put on some bright colours and. See how long I can stand it until I have to change into black, and then I'm going to stream some funky improv on Twitch.

Nothing but love

Hi!! Just wanted to send a little post here. My studio is coming along nicely, and we've plugged in some more things. I'm feeling really good about my songs, and I have a path in my mind now to finish the ones that need finishing! Sometimes, this task is a little daunting on your own, but I'm also practising deeply trusting in my own self.

Life feels challenging but also peaceful, and I'm grateful for that. I feel like there is a time coming where life will be much busier, but we're not there yet. Trusting in divine timing and all that life brings my way, and even what it doesn't bring my way.

I somehow feel .. not lost exactly.. but just changed and changing and it's hard to find my footing. On the other hand, I decided early on not to push outwards this year and instead to focus on being a calm and steady presence in my son's life while he enters into exam territory.

Next month starts to get busier work wise for me and I'm very grateful for that. I'm looking forward to being amongst people! I'll be sharing a full gig list in the next week with a few exciting shows in the pipeline (nothing major in that festival sense, but shows I'm proud to be a part of as an indie DIY musician).

Thanks so much to everyone here for being a part of my world and showing the support you do. It means so much!

I wrote a song again

Got super inspired this evening all of a sudden, but for very specific reasons based on what I had consumed, music, conversation, life, social media, etc wise ... and I stuck with it and fleshed it out so it is further along, and I'm so excited as always to have another song!

At the moment, it's called Medicine Man.
It was inspired by a lyric i heard 'take my final form' and it took me on quite a journey about metamorphosis etc! Been a fun evening!

Spring Cleaning in Winter

It's been a long year this month. Lol

Later on, I'm going to stream, like most days that I can! I'm so excited, though! Any time I work on my studio physically or digitally, I get so fired up. I'm so beyond wildest dreams happy with my life as a musician - it's still blowing my 80's kid mind that I'm allowed to have my own TV channel!

January has been a lot of connecting back to who I am and what I'm doing. It's been another process of letting go and making space.

In my imagination, I can see what this small studio space will flourish into over time, and I'm reeedicuuuulously hyped for it. Right now, I had to ask myself what I needed in this space without spending any money instantly, as it wasn't quite working, and audio issues were beginning to occur. Anyway, it took some hours, but we moved it around, and I actually did most of it by myself, only recruiting Dragon for the heaviest moves! I tidied my wires, made all the equipment have risers for a standing work position, and for air flow around my streaming laptop. I still have some more to do, but I feel so happy about making some decisions and moving forward! I put on some 'thinking music', and there was so much incense smoke Dragon could hardly breathe when he opened the door to come in, lol!

It's just that 4 years ago, there was no way I could've done this and remembered where to plug each wire in, etc!!

My studio is a mix of secondhand, new and borrowed, and I love in it every iteration, and grow and expand with it.

Setting up Throne has blown my love off the scale! I have felt so loved over my birthday weekend 😍 and am acknowledging it's sometimes hard for me to receive love. I'm growing more comfortable with that and asking for help and love! Not just to do with Throne, but in all my life.

Gotta keep pushing myself out of comfort zones. Also, trust in myself and my abilities, and follow enthusiasm always.

Can't sleep. So excited, listening back to a phone recording of tonight's rehearsal and feeling so happy with our sound! Everything feeling like it makes sense.

Also, my lovemy Dragon helped me fix the dress I bought to wear for this show so it fits better! It has gold pegasus on it and definitely has a sorceress vibe 😍

I can't wait to share the full recordings of these songs, which now sound more ready than I could ever have done on my own. I'm feeling so lucky to have these incredible musicians to play with!

I just wanted to share my excitement about working with such talented musicans and how I feel overall happy and excited about 2025 and even find myself looking forward to NYE because it is the brink of 2025 and I can't wait for what it will bring!

This was the exciting thing I wanted to share on stream today! I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it work with my old mac (maybe a cue for me to finally press Buy It Now on a new Mac and invest tf in myself well and truly)... I am so excited to plug this in and play! 61 keys vs the 25 midi keyboard I've been using as well as so many new samples and sounds! I'm super excited to make some music on this machine, which Jack has already made lots of beautiful compositions on, which of course makes it even more dope!!

I'll keep you posted as to whether I get it working!

Growing

I realised tonight that I'm so motivated & excited even in the face of what is happening in this industry - in this world - because I'm not actually thinking about some distant outcome... of anything about that. Just the act of doing & being. I can't thank you guys enough. You have no idea the strength and confidence in myself you give me. I am deeply grateful for you!!

I have so much more to share but I'm not sure how. I have loads of vlogs, but I just... I don't know whether to put them here or not! I tend to record them as notes for myself, just to clear my mind & to help process all the thoughts after each performance I do. It's becoming something I do regularly. But I have a feeling maybe my future self will delve back into them for something....

My late night ramblings

I really love it when someone says a word, and it doesn't mean what they think but is really close to the correct meaning or sounds like a similar word... and I also love it when actually this is the right word and I was wrong, then I get to learn a new word.
Either way, it's something that tickles me.

Tonight, someone on TV said futuristic, but I think they meant either optimistic or thinking about the future in a positive way. So is this right?! I need to go check. Either way, I love this.

I'm watching Hoarders, but it mainly stresses me out, so I'm gonna change the channel now 🤣

What a week!

This is my supper after what was the most amazing show I've had for a while. I used my looper and people danced to my songs!! It felt incredible 😲 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Here is my setup in my new studio, and soon even more equipment will be plugged in ready for recording my new album!! I am hyped. The show was a SUCCESS! It was FANTASTIC to hear/play my songs 🎵 ❤️ and be in my band again. Loved every last minute of it! My lead guitar playing was shocking, but still, better than it was!

Felt excitement last night when I read this email! Couldn't wait to share the news with you all!

First Band Practice in 3 years!!

My heart is FULL! Playing my songs with these two incredible musicians made me feel so giddy with happiness! I've written so much since the last time we had a chance to play together, and it was so much fun to share ideas on how we we can play my new songs live and get the most out of our instruments as a trio.

We have two shows coming up in July and 4 weeks to build and rehearse a set.
