I enjoy focusing solely on the comic at the moment.
I'm curious to observe people's reactions to the increased drama in the story. It's a new experience for me to tackle a substantial storyline in a comic. Additionally, I've begun working on expanding the worldbuilding aspects.
Currently, I'm developing a map and providing explanations for the symbol that is hang from the tree.
I received good feedback about switching to two pages per week when I asked last week, so I will go ahead with the idea. At least for one month, since I will need to get back to doing commissions soon, or I will be in trouble financially.
So, starting this week, I will upload every Monday and Thursday, at least until the 15th of June.
Depending on how it will go, I'm hoping to maybe find a good way to continue with the two uploads per week.
I like how gay this scene is; it's incredibly adorable <3.
I'm somewhat concerned about explicitly stating what is happening in the dialogue instead of demonstrating it. The general rule is 'show, don't tell,' but I was worried it might feel too unusual otherwise. I'm not entirely sure.
I often find myself conflicted about how much information to convey through dialogue. If anybody has some tips or anything please feel free to let me know.

I gues this page also deserves a slight gore warning since Nugg getting his fur pulled out is kind of brutal, it was heartbreaking to draw at least.
But I wanted to convey the abuse he went thru and that Copper would help him even at his absolute lowest.

I normally try to avoid big chunks of text, but I didn't want to be too ambigious in this scene.
And I also wanted the symbol hanging from the tree to look like it is woven by birds. Just because I don't want things to look too man-made. So most small, crafted things are made by birds.

I didn't think I would get the background right but it really turned out nicely in the end.
It's sometimes hard for me to dial back the saturated, happy colors and convey a more somber feeling.
The next few pages will be a bit more story-heavy. I hope that's ok... I'm still kind of new to long storytelling and not just doing a short comic.

For the big background panel with the flowers I used my painting style instead of doing linework-flat colors-shadeing.
Meaning I took the sketch put some color on a layer beneath it then used adjustment layers and normal layers and painted in lighter and darker values (shadows and lights) as I saw fit and then zoomed in and painted over all the layers to make it clean. It felt really good to get back to the usual routine of drawing the comic page on the weekend. After weeks of doing it, sometimes it feels exhausting, but after the two week break and working on chapter two it felt really nice to get back to my normal schedule.
The cool thing is there won't be a break between chapter 1 and 2 now. If there will be any delays I will of course let you guys know.

Not much to say today really, well winter here is really getting cold now I'm constantly freezing, my hot water bottle has become my best friend.
This was a commission for a anonymous commissioner.
They wanted me to change the design for the public version, so I don't have sketches for this one since the sketches included the full design. I've worked with them on multiple big pieces already and they are an absolute joy I'm glad I was able to share some of it with you guys <3
