Update 7/9/23

Hello, Patrons!

We've got a bunch of content this week!

1. The attached video.

This is a real-time swim-through of our test level (not the gameplay map). Keep in mind the level is very barebones in order to reduce unnecessary GPU strain while working on things like the movement system and gameplay logic, meaning no fish or fancy particle effects, etc. I have a system for adding splashes for the entry/exit wh...

A note from our audio designer!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share some exciting news about my involvement in the development of Siren. My name is Evan Brozovich, and I have a deep passion for sound design and audio manipulation. From a young age, I've been captivated by the power of sound and have been experimenting with various techniques to create unique sonic experiences. While I don't have prior experience with Unreal Engine, I've had the opportunity to work with audi...

Hi, everyone!

Here's a link to an anonymous survey, which will help us get a clearer picture of who we're building this game for. Would greatly appreciate if you could take a few minutes to fill it out!

Update 06/25/23

Hello, everyone!

David here. After my crazy past two weeks, things are settling down and I'm getting back into the flow. It's hard to describe how excited I am to start putting full-time work into Siren! I wasn't able to spend too much time in the game engine this week (see previous post for reasons), but some work did get done. Here are a few bullet paragraphs about where we're at:

Worked on more movement logic and and cleaned up part of the character graph (pi...

Chaos reigns!

Hi, everyone! Sorry for the lack of meaningful update this week. Last week and this week combined is pure chaos on my end. The good news is that I'm making the transition to working on Siren full-time, but this means cleaning up a LOT of loose ends with prior contracts and work commitments. Additionally, this happens to be the week that the flooring in the house is being replaced, which basically means moving out and moving b...

The Road to Kickstarter

[Attached image is from the entrance to an area tentatively called The Coral Towerlands]

Hello, Patrons!

Today we’ll be laying out a summer roadmap which is intended to bring us to a point where we can produce a trailer featuring far more gameplay than the announcement trailer. At this point, I’d guess that nearly every supporter is enthusiastic about mermaids in general, and was drawn to the idea simply based on the concept and visuals alone. In order to kickstart, we’ll ...

Lore and Legend

Hello, Patrons!

In today’s post we’ll be going into more detail about the game’s setting and lore. A lot of this information has been taken directly from our concept/design documents, but for those worried about spoilers, it has been edited to remove significant plot points and some important named characters. This is information that will be freely discussed in future press releases and trailers.

Dev Update 05/28/23

Hello, Patrons! Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s been going on this week:

  • Worked on more of the core gameplay systems, and started getting some trident/spear animations to work with our Mer model (video attached)

  • Our composer, Evan Koessler, is continuing to work on some amazing themes for the game’s main menu screen. The “theme suite” will set the musical vibe for many of the different zones and layers we’ll be swimming through as we exp...

Devlog #1 - Dark Synth Depths

Hello, Patrons!

This is David, the creative director of SIREN and founder of Loreseeker Games. First of all I’d like to hugely thank those of you here for being our very first supporters. Yes, we got a nice and flashy trailer, and while it turned out quite close to my final artistic vision for the game, we are still truly in the early stages of development. I really can’t over-e...
