Girls Band Cry, S.1, Ep. 2 - Three Nocturnal Creatures

I was worried that I wouldn't feel as connected to this anime. I was wrong. I'm connected. Nina may have dropped out of school, but it seems she only did so to look for a better place for her mentally. I get that.

Young band kid love. It's a thing.

Our band director used to joke about how many of us would meet the love of our lives in band, and no lie, I have friends who married their band sweetheart.

I dated my band sweetheart until my junior year of college. 😅

As an adult watching that band kid love now...it's kinda gross. Ha!

There may not be a crazy amount of music topics in this episode, but it did bring up the topic that most band kids are in band for....

Last week I said Jacen wasn’t the most exciting cat. He may not be silly like a typical orange cat, so I as his human mother feel obligated to bring out the fun side in him.

This fusion was like your favorite cocktail being made the right way. Like my scotch on the rocks with just the right amount of water.

Girls Band Cry, S.1, Ep. 1 - Tokyo Heave-Ho

The animation in this anime is GORGEOUS! It's like I am watching a live action video game with that anime style of drawing that I love!

...this anime is so cute. A girl just wanting to break out on her own to find her own way and meets her favorite guitarist?

The humor is gold as well. I lost it with the resturant scene. Good stuff!

AND THE MUSIC! YES! The background music is beautiful and that credit scene. OMG!

1. Why were there so many interruptions these past 3 months?

Jacen is not horribly interesting…

I had a Boston appreciation post last week. Here’s my Jacen one…even though…he’s not super active.

When you look at him it’s like the cogs in his brain are working too well. He’s super smart. From what I understand, orange cats are supposed to be goofy.

Jacen is far from it. The most “goof” I get out of him is when he chooses to harrass Boston.

DIZZY SUNFIST - Life Is A Suspense

I hope my face on a swimmer isn't weird. I was just trying to channel the comedy of the band with their cute little spermy head pieces!

I didn't remember Dizzy Sunfist being this punky sounding. I am glad I was brought back to this group. The English lyrics were a surprise for me. The context hits hard. The costuming was great!

...but I am afraid they aren't active anymore. Please tell me they are.

BAND-MAID - alone (w/ score)

I sinned again here. I am sorry again...but it was hard to resist.

I forgot about how "alone" was the breakout song for BAND-MAID since it was their first original composition by Kanami and members.

Seeing the score, you can tell that Kanami really pulled out all the punches. Parts are stacked and fully orchestrated. Parts are more advanced here. Changes happen in the parts in comparison between the other songs and this...

Another band that I will never get new material from ever again.

This kind of thing kills me. I know that we at least have the memories and what is created now, but man...this band has a cool sound. The harmonies of the vocals and the sheer musical talent of all three memebers here shines so bright!

Sorry for no new anime today. My seasonal allergies decided to turn into a cold.

I accidentally watched this before episode 5...I was so confused but didn't show it.

I do want to say that this show is still pretty darn accurate to what band life is like. I'm loving this!

Boston “Sings”

I bought a melodica one year at TMEA because…why not? And after I started playing with it for just a little bit, I heard a small squeak in the corner.

Turns out, the sound of the melodica, harmonica, and any emergency vehical will make him do this. Before this, he had never howled before since having him.

EXTREME - Play With Me

Mozart was an amazing composer but a really funny and rude man. It was said that Mozart never really grew up and acted like a child even into his adult age.

The reason I bring this up is it seems so appropriate for EXTREME to use Mozart's "Rondo," alla Turka to introduce a song that seems like a playful song indeed. It's like it was supposed to happen this way.

Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien

I listened and reacted to the album version first and I blown away by the musicality of Joe Satriani. This is lyrical guitar playing with some shreddiness here and there. I honestly could imagine myself "surfing with the alien."

Curiosity got the best of me so I searched for a live version, and man did I get lucky! I hope you enjoy that part as well!

BAND-MAID - FREEDOM (Revisited)

Once again I step into the scores of BRAND NEW MAID and man...I forgot about the live version of FREEDOM.

It was nice hearing the studio version since I think I bypassed listening to it in general. I could hear a lot fo what is going on in the score, but the live version really gave me a look into how they added transitions for Akane to do her happy gorilla drumming. Very very cool thing to notice here!
