Hello, quick message to tell you that the release has been published. I am preparing the announcements now ;-)
Z motor mounts and z leadscrew cap have not change since my last post here. However, you need to re-print the Z tops.

On the new Bear Z axis, to have a more reliable X axis ramming into Z tops I have calculated the width of the layer in contact to fit the number of perimeters. Like this I avoid having non reliable surface due to top solid infill.
The bigger surface of contact avoid any torsion of the X ends when they are ramming. It also solves the issue of the screws (used to stop the X ends) marking the plastic over time.

Finally I am ready to share the new Z axis for Bear 2.1. The re-design of the Z tops is now ready. The Z motor mount got some improvements since the last time I shared it with you.
This is only for Bear 2.1frame (same as Bear 2.0 MK3 frame) and it is not yet compatible with Bear 2.0 MK2S or MK2.5S frame. If you have a doubt about your frame you can check this page: 2019-10-23 19:14:53 +0000 UTC

Here is a view of what the new Z tops will looks like.
- Both M5 screws are now in front to allow better alignment and improve print quality (reduce warping).
- Stiffer holding of the Z smooth rod thanks to deeper hole.
- Several improvement in the geometry to improve stiffness.
- More precise surface to improve accuracy when X axis is ramming into Z tops.

Here is a view of what the new motor mount will looks like.
- Now use M3x10mm screws.
- Better holding of the Z smooth rod.
- Stiffer structure achieved by smaller center opening and proper support of the back of the stepper.
- Avoid bad alignment due to 90° plates that could be over the Z vslot.
- Easier to align with the bottom vslot. Last layer is made only with perimeters to have the smoother possible surface.
- After several tests I found tha...

Hi everyone, I have just pushed new files today for the future release alpha1. The release has not been created yet, will work on it tomorrow.

Dear Patrons,
I am working on the PSU mounts and I thought about moving the silver PSU more on the back and use an M3 t-nuts directly on the v-slot (green arrow on the picture). This would apply to silver PSU only. The PSU will move back by 5-6mm only.

This could be the future Y stepper mount. Much more stiffer and the stepper does not touch anymore the extrusion (on MK3). Doing some testing with this one right now. It will still probably need an extra support for the motor, will see what tests are going to say.
Hardware:
- 1x M5x12mm
- 1x M5x16mm
- 2x t-nuts
- 3x M3x18mm

I am working on Bear Upgrade 2.1 and it will come with a better Y axis. This picture is a Y idler tensioner.
Some features:
- 3mm of adjustments like on X.
- Use a single tensioning screw to keep the mount straight and make adjustments easy.
- The movement use a small rotation but the height of the belt vary only by 0.042mm.
- Will be compatible with E3D idlers.
- Belt path is different than on Prusa but will be the same across all bear frames.

Hi everyone, we are really close to release the new extruder, we are reviewing and adjusting some links and doc. But there is an important point I want to share before.
The new original Prusa extruder has the hotend placed higher up on the X carriage, it creates a 7mm longer Z axis. Unfortunately, th...

I recently made some investigation about the way PTFE must be cut and I am still not very happy with the answer I got, some explanation are missing to me. You can read about it in those tweets :

Here is a PTFE cutter I designed made according to Prusa drawings. The angle on the side that goes into the heatbreak is 60°. ...

I had to do something for my heated bed cables that were bending too much in my enclosure. I also switched to AWG14 which makes the original mount too small. Here is an exclusive design for you lovely exclusive patrons that has an angle of 55° and support 8mm sleeve for AWG14 wires.
