HAPPY NEW BEAR 2024 !!!
As some may know 2023 was a very special year for me and I was baffled to see people continuing to support my work. It is impressive to see that some of you are still here. Thank you for your comments, talks, ideas and great mindset. Have a wonderful and relaxing holiday.
Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone,
Prusa is actively looking for data from users with E3D Revo hotend to calibrate their thermal model. Most submissions are made with Revo Six so if you are running a beta of BearExxa V2 it could then be very valuable to add yours.
If you have a bit of time you can and report your results here:
https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues/3636
Have a great day :)...
Warmest wishes to you and your loved ones <3
Rest assured that we have no intention to make a collection of hats for the new extruder...
(hat designed by Freepik.com)
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you for your incredible support with the project. It means a lot to me and I am very grateful <3

Hello everyone, some news on BearExxa V2 :)
Custom motor
Our custom stepper has now been validated and it is time to share some details!
In order to have a repeatable manufacturing and perfectly concentric gear, we are machining the gear directly on the motor shaft (see the 2nd and 3rd pictures). This will also reduce potential 602 pattern as this is even more precise than a press fitted gear. The gear is also hardened for a very ...

I am looking for someone going to ERRF 2022 with a genuine Bear frame to show the frame and the new extruder. We will provide you the new extruder stepper and a place on the LDO booth (if needed).
If you are interested, please contact me in private here or on Twitter/Discord.
ERRF information:
Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all fine and have a great summer (or winter if you have the head down compared to my country). Here are some news on the development of the new extruder.
Custom Motor
I have finished all the testing on the custom steppers and there are some good news:
Come to the LDO booth at MRRF to see this Bear from Chad. The frame has been etched by Sacr3D Etching and it runs the beta of our new extruder with the E3D Revo Micro.
Huge thanks to Chad for offering to present his Bear and for the excellent work he did!
You can also talk to Chad on the KB3D booth, he is the second largest bearded man.
The BearExxa V2 is not running our custom motor yet and unfortunately Jason couldn't bring one to MRRF. However, the good news is that I hav...

Finally time for a new beta release :)
New Features
Hi Everyone,
I have been working on improving several things on the BearExxa V2 as well as applying several feedback (it is still time to share some in case of). One of the next feature is the support of MMU2S (or ERCF) with detection of the filament passing between the print gears. As I don't have or use MMU2S I can only do partial testing so it will be an experimental version. So far the sensing looks to work well with almost no need to adjust the chimney position.
I hope this w...

I hope you are all fine and healthy!
I am looking for feedback of the new extruder for the next release. Any type of feedback is welcome, even small details or esthetic, good or bad, everything is welcome! Also, you could share feedback even if you are not using the extruder now or even to have printed the parts.
You could write them it in the comments bellow, or send me a private message via Patreon, Twitter (@gregoiresaunier), Discord (gregsaun#0545) or why no...

It is is time for the release! Please find attached the files for BearExxa V2 beta1 release at the end of this post.
Once download you can look at bom. md to see which hardware parts you need and print_settings. md for the details on how to print the files.
Once you have printed the parts and have all the hardware in hands you can follow the quick assembly guide pictures one after the other.

I am happy to confirm that we have solved our issue and we are glad to have seen it before the launch. Some words on what happened...
As you know, we want to have a precise and reliable assembly of the extruder for everybody. To achieve this, one of the thing we do is to use well selected tolerances and shapes to self center the motor (with the 17T gear) with the bigger 50T gear. Unfortunately, it was not 100% right and one of our developer had a problem while all others testers didn't....

We have found a potential issue on the extruder, nothing that cannot be solved, and we prefer to check before sharing with you. We will not be able to share before next week unfortunately.
I have added a section regarding 602 issue in the post "BearExxa V2 - Gearing" here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/62425637 .
Do you have any questions regarding the extruder? Feel free to ask!

As promised some details on the X carriage :)
The filament sensor is now wired from the back to the front, this makes access to the back of the carriage easier and cleaner wiring. We have obviously kept the two plates to access either belts or bearings and to not have to remove all the wires when you have to remove the lower X carriage back.
The carriage is now unique between MK3S and MK2.5S. You only have to attach the cable guide on the back cor...

The BearExxa V2 is easier to assemble and operate than ever. As you can see in the first animation the motor part is very quick to remove. This is also giving access to all gears for easy cleaning and lubing. The motor and hotend assemblies are independent, you can remove the motor while keeping the hotend safe and secure. And when you remove the hotend cover, the Revo Micro will not fall down, it stays in place with our groove mount. We have also kept the
The BearExxa V2 is based on the new E3D Revo Micro with stock fan. I don't think it is interesting to list again all the advantages and features of the Revo but I hope you will see few extra through these lines.
The Revo Micro is very compact and it has allowed us to reduced the filament path drastically from 83mm on BearExxa V1 to 76.9mm on V2. It is shorter by 1.35mm than latest Prusa MK3S extruder. In case you are wondering, the Bond...

Hi all, I will share several posts in the coming days explaining features and design we have selected for our new extruder.
The new BearExxa will use a Bondtech 3:1 gear set, same one than in the BMG extruders. One of the reason behind it is because it is well known, compact, reliable, good teeth design and easy to source. Another advantage is that many already have it on their printer as they have upgraded their Prusa extruder to Bondt...

I wish you a wonderful New Year 2022 with lots of successful print, good health and lots of laugh. Thank you for your always impressive support <3
New Bear extruder is coming very soon and will support the E3D Revo Micro, 3:1 gearing, support of MMU2S, very short filament path, built for reliability, easy to maintain and all the other advantages of the E3D Revo Micro. On this picture you can see a small set of the new extruder parts made during the development.

I take the opportunity of this post to share a massive thank you to Duet for their support and excellent documentation. Also a special thank you to Florian (flobler) for all the great work on the firmware configuration, scripting and documentation.
I have updated the screen cover to make it 1.2mm closer to the extrusion, making the frame a bit shorter. Not a big step but always welcome. Some extra details have been added like ...

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all fine and healthy :)
I was waiting serious manufacturers coming with a quality and reliable control board and recently it is moving nicely from Duet side. They have announced few time ago the Duet 3 Mini 5+ which is very promising:
Hi dear supporters, I hope you are all fine and healthy.
A quick project I made that has nothing to do with Bear (except it is printed on a Bear obviously). I needed a support for my Canon flashes for some quick pack-shot I have to do, so I made one.
It is printed upside-down to have a precise hot shoe mount. I have added the 1/4-20 UNC thread to hold it on a tripod. Finally, I made the little hole to block the flash in position with the locking mechanism.
Chances are that i...
