The Congress of Vienna (Part 2) (1814 to 1815)

It's the THRILLING CONCLUSION to the Congress of Vienna!

Our heroes come out of this one looking quite bad!  A lot of lying!  A lot of incompetence!
What else is new!  But somehow, miraculously, they stumble out of there avoiding another world war.

A lot of Poland-Russia stuff in this video which...as time went on...s...

Animation for the next video is chugging along!  Currently about half way done, just wrapping up the phase that I'm calling "Talkin' Week" and entering the phase that I'm calling "Flow Chartin' Week."

"Mappin' Week" is somewhere out there in my future, but I refuse to think about that because I like to live in denial.

Hope everyone's good!  Cheers!  :)

The Congress of Vienna (Part 1) (1814)

At long last!  More 19th century content!

Try not to flip your dang lids, but it's another video sans squares.  We got paintings, we got portraits, we got people's faces, it's a whole new visual world baby.

I was torn for a long time about doing a Part 1 and a Part 2, but once I realized that *both pa...

The animation for the next video is more than half way done.  The end is in sight!

I tried to find a non-spoiler preview image for a little hint on the next video's topic, but it turns out *everything* is a spoiler, so here we go!  Talkin' 'bout elections, talkin' 'bout politics, talkin' 'bout Whig Oligarchies.

My guess is that I'm probably like 7-10 work days away from this video being done.  Since the holidays are coming up I'll be cautious and say it'll pr...

Peace...? (1814)

In the summer of 2020, I began the "readin bout boats" phase of my life.  This is the first video to bear fruit from all that reading.  As predicted, boats are mentioned literally zero times.

Last year I started INHALING books about the 19th century British Navy, and over time this slowly expanded into books about the political history of the 19th centu...

I HOPE YOU LIKE MAPS.

Another installment in the continuing series: "Mediocre Roman Leaders Who Are Incredibly Lucky To be Surrounded By Other Mediocre Leaders."

This video features me taking Antony's political situation quite seriously, and coming out the other side shockingly sympathetic to his point of view.  Except in one case, where he 100% ...

Sextus Pompeius and the Sicilian War (42 to 36 B.C.E.)

It's a Christmas Miracle!

Boats, Pirates, Famine, Incompetence, Being Bad At Things, Bravely Running Away.

This video follows Octavian, and clearly it covers *a lot* of ground.  When I began the research process, I thought that I would be able to cover Antony & Cleopatra as well, which in retrospect seems like madness. &n...

Salut!

Currently down in the trenches animating the next video, which clocks in at a *ludicrous* 38 minutes.

By my calculations I'm about 30% of the way through the animation.  That's always a deceptive number though, since the first half always takes a lot longer than the second half.  I always joke that the actual work of animating a video is like... 51% the first minute, 49% everything else.  You can tell that that's something I actually say because...

The Battle of Philippi (42 B.C.E.)

It's here!  Much anticipated, the story of the largest battle in Roman history [PROBABLY].

I also took this opportunity to just straight up *TRICK* people into learning about this weird little incident with Hortensia which has always captured my imagination.

Enjoy!

I'm not even *REMOTELY* near the end of animating, but this is a little look at what I was working on today.

I censored something that would give away the literal name of the video, but... it probably doesn't take a genius to figure it out...

(No ETA yet, I'm still very early in the animation process!)

The Bronze Age Collapse (approximately 1200 B.C.E.)

PUBLIC RELEASE OF DA VID.

Weirdly, for the first time ever, the outro song I normally used got Content ID'd, incorrectly identified as an Indian pop song.  I immediately filed a dispute, we're on week 2 of that, that's ongoing, whatever, I figured I'd replace the song and put out the video anyways.

I didn't notice until I was putting together the description that the new song I settled on was called "Deluge," from an album called "Sea Change."  Seems like the Cont...

The Bronze Age Collapse (approximately 1200 B.C.E.)

So!

It's come to my attention that the unlisted YouTube video that I posted below has been getting shared around pretty aggressively and openly on some social networking sites.  YouTube analytics ***sees everything,*** and so I've been vaguely aware for a while that sometimes the videos get shared with small groups of non-Patreon people.  I've just kinda ignored that up until now, but this time I'm se...

I tried to find a really good image that wouldn't give anything away, but then I failed, so now you get this one instead!

The next video features... *AN* Empire.  And cities.  And something called an Ugarit.  Very strange.
