Have not been to the southwest deserts in a while...

I'll be in Las Vegas next week, but I'll just be doing some NBP and book related things during WPPI, and not going out to the deserts as is my usual while there (never mind during the time I sorta lived there for 18 months).

I don't normally do this really anywhere anymore, but figured I'd share a few raw shots from a project with Valentina just this last weekend. Pretty stoked for these editorial sets. We did 4 total sets, was a great team.

Open sun work...a fave...

I always love shooting in open sun. Mostly, it has been during swimwear shoots, or similar. Am hoping to do more open sun work in the deserts this autumn and into 2026. Here are some throwbacks with Ainsley...

"Glamour": a world I am mostly leaving behind...

Here's a set from 11 years ago, I think this was targeted to be in some international Playboy edition, but I don't know if it ever did that? I was never really into this, like, just totally clear, glamour nude style. It's not an issue of being a prude, I'm the exact opposite of that, but works like this just never spoke to me beyond "OK, that's a gorgeous woman" and I got bored of that very quickly.

No hate on anyone who shoots straight up commercial glamour, but a comment I received ...

I am so honored and excited and ready to release this to the world. I feel vulnerable and nervous, but so proud to have sent the final layouts to the printer today. Stay tuned!

This week, the final layout files go to the printers (Floricolor in Portugal) and that means –– this is happening! My first true art book, "Veladura", will have pre-sale starting very soon, friends.

"Early" experiment with wide focal lengths...

This might have been the very first time I successfully use the wide-angle lens, in terms of being satisfied with the results. It started the usual way someone might use wide angle lenses, if they never usually do: because they needed to fit the shot. But it was during this set that I started to understand what wide focal lengths can do in terms of presence and energy!

It's sort of wild to me that this is the type of workshop I used to give over a decade ago. Unfortunately, years ago I opted to stop hosting art nude and erotica workshops because I continually got too many weirdos in attendance.

2021 in Vegas...

I never really did much with this set, and it was very improvised as I was staying at some vintage mansion in Las Vegas that a buddy of mine had rented out for a bunch of projects. I was there for the weekend so I called her to come out and create.

Everything was very off the cuff that weekend, and I was leading up to WPPI, which is why I was in Vegas that year.

Actually, I'll be in Vegas again for WPPI this year – mid March.

11 years ago: erotica/glam I guess?

I wasn't always sure how to capture erotica type of work when I was a lot newer to this. Not to say that I am not master at it today, but, I think I understand it more here in 2025 and moving forward. 

To me, these shots of Nevaeh are just "decently lit shots of a erotic model" and don't really capture much beyond that. As she did a lot of "adult" magazine work, she immediately went down that direction on camera; something I repeatedly tried to coach her away from as we s...

"Veladura" update...

I'm excited today to report that a fantastic meeting was had this morning, and it looks like printing of my upcoming art book is going to be even better and more beautiful than I thought. I could almost cry!

I cannot wait to share this with everyone, and the presale should start mid February.

Experimenting before I had fear...

Some wild, shoddily done shots from 2011 (some are labeled 2012 but thats because I re-edited them in 2012 for some reason). So these were something like 13-14 years ago when I was a lot more courageous about trying experimental things in photography, whether I knew how to technically execute anything or not, I had a fearlessness about me. A shelved project...

So this was part of a series I wanted to continue producing, all for a book called "Lluvia", which eventually abandoned by 2018.

To say this project is the most exciting creative effort of my life –– would not be an overstatement.

My first art book is being released mid February! It is a mix of erotica photography, writing (prose) and graphic design. It's something I am very proud of, nervous about, and eager to finally see come to life.
